“Leah was the BEST Rover I have had. She spent time with Shelby, not just coming in for a 5 minute walk, but actual time with her. I will contact her whenever I need someone for Shelby again.”

“As an anxious senior dog mom I could not have asked for a better dog/ house sitter while we were out of the country!! Sent me so many updates & pictures every day and stayed on top of all the niche things our trio of pups require. She even noticed a poisonous snake (tbh idk if i would’ve seen it) in our yard and took the proper precautions with the dogs without hearing back from me yet! I was so nervous to leave our gremlins for so long and about the time difference incase anything came up, but my mind was at ease the whole time and that says a lot (:”

“Laurie did great with our three dogs. She also cleaned our house after a very rainy week while we were gone. I would recommend her to others for both house and pet sitting.”

“Meg is wonderful. We absolutely love her. We have a dog that requires two shots a day (insulin) and we never worry. We recommend her, but don't want anyone taking her from us!”

“Sonia was so kind to take a last minute booking for a family emergency. She came for a meet and greet and asked great questions to make sure she was prepared. She was communicative and sent pictures throughout the stay, and followed through the schedule we had discussed. She definitely seems like a dog whisperer, when she came to bring the key back, my dog stood at the door watching her! I would absolutely welcome her back to house/dog sit.”

About: I have been taking care of dogs since I was little, as I have never lived without them. I love all animals and always treat them as my own. I love being outside and going on walks and would love to have a dog to take with me on some adventures as I explore San Antonio. I’m very punctual and good about remembering feeding times or understanding what the dogs needs are. I have owned big and small dogs and love them all so much. I have raised puppies but also cared for my blind and deaf dog during his last few years of life so I am experienced in all stages. I do not have a job at the moment because I just moved here so I would have plenty of time! I miss being around my dogs and am hoping to be able to interact with yours! I live in an apartment on the third floor so I don’t have a yard right outside, but my complex offers a beautiful dog park. There is also a dog washing station if I need to clean them up. There are plenty of walking trails close by that I can take them on and plenty of grass areas.
“Damien did an amazing job at caring for my dogs. They warmed up to him very quickly loved being around him. He was also very respectful of the house and very clean. I will be booking him again. I highly recommend Damien to anyone needing a good sitter.”

“Second time Lindsay has watched our 2 kittens and dog. She does an excellent job communicating and making sure everyone is well cared for and loved while we’re away!”

“This is our second booking with Rachel, and she is the best! Our three kiddos are always so well take care of when she's here. If you're looking for a great, trustworthy dog sitter, we can't recommend Rachel enough! Thank you Rachel!!”

“Sophia is a great sitter she took great care of dogs and cat. She was very professional and provided us the peace of mind we needed for our vacation. I would highly recommend and will use her again myself again for any future travel plans. Thank you Sophia”

“Abigail was a wonderful house/dog sitter for our family. She handled our grumpy, older border collie and our playful, energetic lab very well. She was very attentive to their feeding schedule and we really felt at ease with her staying at our house and taking care of our animals (even the tortoise)! She provided updates daily and was very professional during the initial meet and greet. We will definitely be using her services again.”

“Juliana took great care of our dogs while we were away on vacation! It was our first time booking through Rover and we felt at ease from day 1. She was attentive and kept us updated with pictures which made us comfortable. We hope to use her again in the future.”

“Ashley was amazing, took great care of our dogs and our house. We appreciated her last minute availability over the holiday weekend and responding so quickly, she even offered a meet and greet prior to booking. Ashley sent daily pictures of our dogs and a little update each day which we greatly appreciated.”

“Will was very attentive to Penny. Checked in on her, fed her at same time everyday and stayed overnight with her. When I came back on Sunday, she was very content, and not stressed at all. I will use Will again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Leon Valley
Where do I start with how great she is! Meg came over for a meet and greet to ensure Nala, my cat, got to meet her ahead of time. I was honestly shocked because my skittish girl who typically doesn’t approach strangers went right up to her with no hesitation. Meg took detailed notes and even asked about household things she could do while I was gone (e.g., asking what days the garbage man came, etc.). Most importantly, my cat has a heart condition and takes three medications. I’m always worried when I leave since she’s not the easiest cat to get meds in. But not for Meg, she said she had no issues getting Nala to take her medications. I’m so thankful for Meg and can’t say enough great things about her. Nala clearly trusted her and so do I!

Eva was very attentive to our instructions and in caring for our furbaby. She left the house clean and tidy. She sent plenty of pictures and asked for clarifications when needed. So happy we found Eva because we came home to such a happy pup. Definitely will be using her to dog sit as long as we can!

Alyssa was amazing! We went on a 10 day vacation, and she took such great care of our 14 year old dog. She communicated consistently, sent updates and pictures of our pup, and gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. I highly recommend her and would definitely trust her to watch our dog again!

Wow, what a gift Sonia is. From the start, communication was excellent, and it was clear that my dog was in caring and capable hands. We received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave me peace of mind while we I was away. It was also very special that she appreciated and noticed the same little things about my dog that I do, a sign that she was being present and loving towards my little one. So happy to have found her. Thank you Sonia!!
Faith has watched Terre several times now and has always been wonderful! She’s reliable, communicative, and takes great care of him. I always feel comfortable leaving Terre with her because I know he’s in good hands. She’s been a huge help, and I would definitely book with her again. Highly recommend!

Dorothy was absolutely amazing with both of our boys! We had a meet and greet before she house sat for us and the boys instantly loved her. While we were away, she followed all of our rules, especially with giving Odie his daily medication twice a day. She sent us constant pictures of the boys while we were away, and there was never a moment where she was not playing with them and keeping them entertained. Dorothy was an amazing sitter, and we will be more than happy to have her watch over our boys again. Thank you Dorothy!!

This is the second time we had Samantha watch our pups for us while we were out of town and quite honestly the only person we will use if we go away. I get anxiety leaving my little pups and knowing they are with her I stress far less. I am so appreciative of her and how she loves and cares for my pups!

We enjoyed the services provided by Riley. She attended to the needs of our pets, provided pictures and updates on how they were responding to her and the care she was providing. My wife and I recommend Riley for overnight stays with your pets. She is competent and her communications give you peace of mind while being away on travel.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Leon Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Leon Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Leon Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
