“Melissa was outstanding. She took amazing care of my two dogs and cat. Very attentive and welcoming to the pets. My stubborn boy warmed up to her so quick and made our trip more relaxing knowing they were in amazing hands!”

“Eva was an amazing help! My pups (one of whom is very anxious) absolutely loved her and were very comfortable. I’m pretty sure one of the cats adopted her. Eva did a great job managing everyone’s shenanigans while we were away. My daughter loved the pictures and knowing her pups were safe and happy while we were gone.”

“This was my first time ever having someone outside of family watch my dogs. I asked a few people if they were okay with meeting me prior to me booking. A few didn’t want to. Ms: Dora met with me twice. Once to see if it’s a good fit and the second just to go over other details. Both times all the dogs were excited and comfortable around her. She took the best care of them and i love the updates we got. She even sent my active duty son a few videos of his baby we have. I am so truly grateful for this! If anyone is considering booking I honestly say I will be rebooking with Ms, Dora! Thank you so much for the love and care of my fur babies and for caring for my home as if it was your own! I can’t express how grateful we are for your love to Rocky’s Kora and Layla.”

“Georgia was fantastic! She was available on short notice and took amazing care of our dog, Milo. Our dog is an anxious rescue, but she is a dog whisperer and immediately put our boy at ease and he was even wanting to sleep with her night one and showing his belly which he doesn’t do unless he’s 100% comfortable. I apologized for running low on his supplies and for him being a little stinky since his bath was delayed and she didn’t even hesitate to offer to go grab what he needed and even offered to bathe him. On top of taking great care of him, she took care of us anxious dog parents and communicated every step of the way and gave lots of updates and pictures. I couldn’t recommend her enough. Will definitely be using her in the future.”

“Isabel was absolutely incredible. She stayed overnight at our home and took amazing care of our dogs, cat, and even our bunny. Her communication was outstanding — frequent updates, photos, and quick responses that made us feel completely at ease. We came home to happy pets and a spotless house. Truly one of the best sitters we’ve ever had.”

“Rachel was amazing with my little ones. Rachel stepped right in loving on my toy poodle and American shorthair cat. She cared for them as if they were her own. This was evident in the frequent updates with pictures. I highly recommend Rachel to care for your pets and home.”

“Damien did an amazing job at caring for my dogs. They warmed up to him very quickly loved being around him. He was also very respectful of the house and very clean. I will be booking him again. I highly recommend Damien to anyone needing a good sitter.”

“Lindsey was amazing! They took excellent care of my dog, kept me updated with pictures, and made sure my pup was happy and comfortable. I felt completely at ease knowing my dog was in such great hands. Highly recommend!”

“We have had multiple sitters and Reily is truly the best. She is professional, thoughtful, communicates, and is respectful of our space and home. She will be our go-to from now on!”

“Christian did an excellent job with my fur babies! All 4 of them! Dogs were happy when I got home, not stressed. House was well kept, dishwasher started, looked like it did when I left! I was very pleased and would certainly recommend him and will definitely use him to house and dog sit Again!”

“Aaliyah is a new house/pet sitter for us and recently “sat” for us for a weekend away. She was great! She was very attentive to our two dogs and did everything we asked (and more). I will definitely be using Aaliyah again. She has proven to be responsible and trustworthy.”
“We had an absolute wonderful time will chole. We had her for a couple of over night days. She play and walked our dog and took the time to truly care for our picky cats. We could not have asked for a better person to take care of our animals. She was completely through and would give us lovely pictures and updates on our babies. She was even able to snuggle or very skiddish kitty and that never happens. If you are looking for a pet sitter and are anxious about it look no further Chole is the best!”

“Laurie did great with our three dogs. She also cleaned our house after a very rainy week while we were gone. I would recommend her to others for both house and pet sitting.”

““I can’t recommend Elizabeth enough! It was my first time using in-home dog sitting, and I was quite anxious about being away from my dog, Lulu. Elizabeth, took such wonderful care of her I could tell Lulu was loved all weekend. When I returned, Elizabeth was sitting on the couch with Lulu, and it brought tears to my eyes. She truly went above and beyond. Thank you, Elizabeth!””

“Rylee was great! She sent pictures, communicated well and took good care of my house! Jeanne had more walks than I generally do !I will definitely engage her again!”

“Gabriella was an amazing pet sitter! She sent tons of photos and kept us updated while we were away!! Thank you so much and I hope you will be able to watch our fur baby again soon!”
“Ella did a great job with our animals on a short notice booking. She was very helpful and communicative while we were away. Our dogs were very happy and well taken care of during our time away.”

About: I have over 10 years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, and temperaments. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I follow all care instructions closely and maintain a calm, clean, and secure environment. With my veterinary experience, I’m trained to recognize signs of stress or illness and respond appropriately. I’m comfortable administering medications, caring for senior pets, and adjusting care routines to meet each pet’s individual needs. I always provide updates so owners feel confident and at ease.
“Leah is an absolute gem! From start to finish, her communication was top-notch—we felt completely at ease the entire time we were away in Puerto Rico. We didn’t worry for a second, knowing our dogs were in such loving and capable hands. Whiskey and Rye adore her (which says everything), and to top it all off, we came home to a house that was somehow cleaner than we left it! Leah went above and beyond in every way, and we’ll 100% be booking her again. Highly, highly recommend!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Helotes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Helotes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Helotes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Helotes. On Rover:
- 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
