“Michelle was absolutely amazing. I have four dogs who require a lot of attention—three American Bullies and one 17-year-old Staffy who needs around-the-clock care—so leaving them with someone new was a big deal for me. From the start, Michelle had excellent communication, kept me updated regularly, and made me feel completely at ease during her first time dog sitting for us. Because of her, I was able to focus on where I was instead of worrying about my pups back home. I would absolutely trust her with them again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone dependable, caring, and attentive.”

“Rylee exceeded all expectations, and we are lucky to have found her. She is communicative, engaging, responsible, and most importantly, caring. She sat our furry family and home for nearly two weeks, regularly sending updates and photos while we were out of the country. We highly recommend her for anyone seeking a sitter for pet and/or home. She will be our choice for the next time we need a pet sitter.”

“Reily watched my two kitties for the weekend and did an amazing job! She followed all instructions, sent lots of updates and pictures, kept my home extremely clean. Will be using her again 😊🐈”

“Leah is the first person to watch our pets (out of many) with whom I felt completely comfortable and didn’t worry about my pets constantly. She was communicative and made it clear that she takes care of our pets like she would her own!”

“She went above and beyond. Was great at communicating and sent lots of pictures for peace of mind. You can tell she truly loves animals!!! We will be using her again”

“Isabel was the best watching our pups! She was very communicative and loved in our babies while we were away. It was our first time using someone we didn’t know and the dogs loved her. She handled all instructions to a T and we came back to happy pups 😊”

About: I have volunteered with both dogs and cats of all kinds (big and small) and have pets of my own: a Lab mix, a Shih Tzu, and a rescued cat. Having cared for and had animals most of my life, understand how stressful it can be to leave your pets in someone else’s care. I make it a priority to provide peace of mind through plenty of photos, frequent updates, quick communication, and carefully following your preferred care instructions and routines. Whether your pet loves to play, prefers a slower pace, or just wants extra cuddles and attention, I’m happy to meet them where they are. Your pets will be treated like family, and I’ll give them the same patience, love, and care that I give my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member with someone else, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure both you and your pet have a great experience I have a very flexible schedule that allows me to give your pet the time, attention, exercise, and companionship they deserve. I’m available most weekdays and weekends and will do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs. We will start with a meet & greet so I can get to know you and your pets and vice versa :) I always follow your care instructions and tailor my care to their individual needs. My goal is to help your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved and keeping you updated with photos and messages throughout their time with me :) peace of mind for you is my number one goal!

“Second time Lindsay has watched our 2 kittens and dog. She does an excellent job communicating and making sure everyone is well cared for and loved while we’re away!”

“Ella did a great job with our animals on a short notice booking. She was very helpful and communicative while we were away. Our dogs were very happy and well taken care of during our time away.”

“I have never had such an amazing sitter. This was the best experience ever. I am truly appreciative of everything you’ve done, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will 100% be booking you again! 💛”

About: I have been told that I have a way with animals , especially dogs in terms of gaining their trust. I have raised a number a dogs over 2 decades living on the family ranch. The latest dog I picked out for the family was very shy and scared. But I bonded with him quickly and gained his trust. FYI, I understand that this a job that I must prioritize customer service, and the health and well-being of their pets. I am well aware the duties of house sitting would include washing toys and dishes, mopping if needed, making sure the pets get plenty of play time, walks in parks, cleaning up waste, and giving meds if needed. Also, I’ll bring my own air mattress if you wish me to spend the night house sitting your pet. I am working on getting another part-time job to make ends meet, but I can provide a flexible schedule to ensure your pets gets the best service when I am needed for help I am unable to provide service to have your pet stay at my place. My backyard is too small for starters. And most importantly, the walls and fence are not built properly meaning you dog might be at risk of digging out.
“Jean-Paul did an excellent job again with our two English Bulldogs. They really love when he stays with them and they can be picky about humans! He communicated with us very well throughout the week and sent lots of pictures, which was great.”

“Eva was an amazing help! My pups (one of whom is very anxious) absolutely loved her and were very comfortable. I’m pretty sure one of the cats adopted her. Eva did a great job managing everyone’s shenanigans while we were away. My daughter loved the pictures and knowing her pups were safe and happy while we were gone.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Helotes
We had such a wonderful experience with Soleil! She stayed overnight with our two dogs while we were out of town, and we couldn’t have asked for a better sitter. She was incredibly communicative throughout the entire stay and sent us lots of pictures and updates, which made it so easy to relax and enjoy our trip knowing the girls were happy and well cared for. Soleil was responsible, attentive, and clearly made our dogs feel comfortable in their own home. We came home to two happy pups and everything exactly as we left it. Most importantly, we felt like we could completely trust her with both our dogs and our home. We would absolutely recommend Soleil and will definitely be using her again. Farrah and Margie already have their sitter! 🐾❤️

Reily is simply amazing! The love and care she showed our pups was like they were her own. Not is she amazing with Aspen and Sterling, but she took amazing care of our home. We came home and it looked like we never had left. Our home was spotless! To top it off there were fresh baked cookies that were still warm when we got home. We will never book anyone else!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Helotes walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Helotes maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Helotes choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
