About: Going on vacation, need a getaway, or just take a break? Trustworthy and reliable house and pet sitter can help. Need a companion to supervise your kids, pets, and elderly family? Caring for your loved ones at home, while they do their normal routine and activities, to be cozy and comfortable. I love being around people, kids, and pets doing activities, conversing, or just quietly keeping them company, if preferred. My experience includes property management, substituting in public schools, volunteer at animal shelters and rescues, helped with community cats, and also watch my own critters along with friends and family. I do have a part-time property management career during the day but can schedule you early mornings and late afternoon evenings, as well as weekends, and holidays. Visits and tasks are personalized with your instructions, to meet your needs. Let me know if I can assist you with anything and get some spare time on your hands to do more!
“Danielle was responsive, took time to meet my dog before the booking, and communicated well throughout the process. She took good care of dog and was even flexible with my return. Highly recommended!”

“Laurie did great with our three dogs. She also cleaned our house after a very rainy week while we were gone. I would recommend her to others for both house and pet sitting.”

About: Dogpark local from the downtown area. I have a dog, Barbie, and my two cats, Kori and Envy. I’m active, positive, professional, and gentle. I feed both my cats and dog in the morning and afternoon. I take Barbie out every morning and afternoon, sometimes at night around the park. All of my animals are very playful. I am a Dogpark local, who takes care of many of my friends pets and homes. This includes taking them to the Dog Park, walking, and sitting for them.
About: Growing up I have taken care of animals all my life. I absolutely love animals and will give them all so much love and care I am available Monday and Tuesdays anytime throughout those days. I am able to come in early. I am able to stay late at night. I walk and play with my dog, she is a little corgi mix. I also have four cats who just love to eat and sleep all day. I make sure to clean out their litter boxes, feed them twice a day, and give them all lots of play time!
“Jayden did a great job housesitting my dog! She followed all my instructions and was very responsive. She made sure to send me lots of great pictures and updates. I felt very comfortable knowing my dog was in good hands.”

“Ashley was fantastic! Her background as a former vet tech really shows—she’s incredibly knowledgeable about puppies and made us feel completely at ease. We also reached out last minute, and she was so accommodating and flexible with our schedule. We’re really grateful for her help and would definitely book with her again!”
About: as a former dog and cat owner ive had the pleasure of taking care of fur babies for many many years. although im not able to have a pet of my own due to where i live, my 9-5 provides me a lot of flexibility for night and weekend opportunities. ive also house- and dog-sitted many times for family and friends. I have also owned and often house sit elderly and disabled pets. I work full time from 8 am to 5 pm from Monday thru Friday, so I have most of my evenings free as well as weekends. i always try to make pets as comfortable as possible and play around with them as much as I can. when i lived in a home that allowed pets, i made it a point to play with them everyday and pay attention to their needs in case they need to change their diet or seem sick/ out of the ordinary

About: I love animals, have two kitties of my own, and grew up with dogs, rabbits, and birds. I’m a full time college student able to care for your pets when you’re away. I understand the importance of having someone reliable and trustworthy to care for your pets as much as you do. Rest assured that your furry friend is safe, comfortable, and happily awaiting your return :) I am a full time student so I have plenty of time to dedicate to your pet's needs. I am only unavailable from 4-6 and some weekends. I ensure a clean environment keeping anything harmful away from your fur babies. Double checking that cleaning supplies/other harmful substances are stored away and out of reach.
“Leandra was fantastic! Her communication was excellent and I felt very secure with her watching my dog. She went above and beyond and will definitely book again when I'm out of town.”
“This is my second time using Sara to house-sit my two bengals. She is very consistent with updates and sends lots of pictures and videos. When I came home today, my cats were not interested in me, lol, but that’s a good thing they seemed happy and tired from a fun sleepover with Sara. I plan on using her for all future bookings.”

“Great service and excellent communication. My pets were very well taken care of and they even managed to make friends with my antisocial cat. They sent tons of pictures throughout the visit and stayed in constant communication. Would definitely book with them again.”

“Wonderful experience for both our pups and us! Thalia was super responsive, cheery, and the pups really responded well to her even while we were away. Would happily have her house/pet sit for us again.”

About: I've spent several years caring for both dogs and cats through pet ownership and pet sitting, and I truly love getting to know each animal's unique personality. I've owned dogs of all sizes—from a corgi to a Saint Bernard—so I'm comfortable with pets of all breeds, sizes, and energy levels. I have an extensive history of pet sitting for a variety of clients while in high school and in college, and for the past several months, I've also been pet sitting for physicians in the San Antonio Medical Center, and I've really enjoyed helping give them peace of mind while they're away! I'm happy to help with just about any pet-sitting need, whether that's drop-in visits, daycare, overnight stays, or house sitting. I'm also open to caring for all kinds of animals, not just dogs and cats! My goal is always to make sure your pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you're away, and to keep you updated so you know they're in good hands. I can't wait to meet you and your pets and give them the same love and attention I'd give my own! I am currently a medical student, but have a pretty light course load this semester! I am typically in class some days of the week from 8am-12pm but am pretty available otherwise! I have no problem stopping by before and after my classes if needed on the days that I am in class (typically 3/7 days of the week). I am very flexible with whatever the rules/ preferences for each pet may be within their house! I understand that each family has different routines with their pets and have no problem doing my best to accommodate them! I also prefer to keep in frequent contact with the owners I have sat for in the past with texts and photos to send updates!
“We cannot thank Mel enough for dog sitting. It is truly amazing to have someone you can fully trust with your fluffy babies when you are away home. They not only give our dogs the best care, but they are flexible with any last minute changes including extending dog sitting. They send us many pictures and videos of them everyday, and keep us updated on everything. We are so lucky and blessed to have found the best dog sitters that we can trust our lives with and will be always going back to them.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Alamo Heights
Ericka was absolutely amazing with our two dogs! She gave regular updates and photos while house sitting for us. She was so helpful and even stayed an extra night when our flights got canceled. She went above and beyond, and we couldn’t recommend her more!

We booked Parker to watch our 2 dogs for 5 days in our home. One of our dogs is very shy and timid but Parker was able to get her to trust her on the first day. She has a big heart for animals and the care she provided was very evident. We did have an issue on the last day with us getting back home at a certain time but Parker was quick to respond and resolve the issue in a timely manner.

Nichole was excellent! She took great care of Terre, kept me updated, sent photos, and made sure he was happy and comfortable. Unfortunately, my A/C stopped working during the booking and maintenance had to come in and out several times, but she was incredibly understanding and patient through the whole situation. She truly went above and beyond, and I came home to a very happy dog. I would definitely book with her again!

Kayla once again did a great job taking care of my two dogs, one of whom is a challenging, picky eater and also needs special care due to a spinal problem. She texted and sent pics and updates several times a day. I felt very comfortable leaving my babies in her care.

Grey was an absolute delight! He consistently went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of our fur babies. He diligently took care of them, kept us informed and updated daily, and showed great consideration for our home. We would be thrilled if Grey could watch the fur babies again!

We were nervous for someone we didn’t know to pet and housesit. Steven did two visits with us and our pets to make sure we all felt comfortable. Upon returning home from vacation, our pets were happy to see us but they didn’t seem overly excited or stressed. This was a good sign that our pets were relaxed with Steven while we were away. We will be asking Steven to sit for us again in the future. Very happy with his care of our pets and home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alamo Heights walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alamo Heights maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alamo Heights choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
