“Angela was amazing and came up clutch for us. It was a 1 day notice as our sitter fell through, and she was at my house meeting us and the doggos in a few hours. She took pics of the dogs and kept us updated. She'll be the only one I could tact in the future.”

“I can't say enough good things about Alexis! She stayed with our three dogs for two nights, and she was absolutely fantastic. She was incredibly attentive, especially with their medication needs, and she really understood our shepherd and pitbull, who are usually a bit uneasy with new people. We came home to happy, calm pups, and we are definitely planning to rebook with her in the future. She also kept us updated on how everyone was doing and provided pictures. Highly recommend her!!!!”

“Jada has stayed at our house several times and always goes above and beyond. She is very communicative, always on time, ensures the pups are well loved (and gives them lots of treats), and always leave our house clean. We highly recommend Jada.”

“Wonderful experience for both our pups and us! Thalia was super responsive, cheery, and the pups really responded well to her even while we were away. Would happily have her house/pet sit for us again.”

“Kelsie was an amazing dog sitter! I got her recommendation from my neighbor, and I can see why. She took great care of my fur babies and gave me frequent updates and pictures, which made me feel at ease. I could enjoy my time knowing they were in good hands. My husband was also impressed with how easily the pups adapted to her. I highly recommend Kelsie to anyone in need of a trustworthy and caring pet sitter. Thank you, Kelsie! Until next time ☺️”

“Isabella did an amazing job with Murphy and Lady! Lady is extremely skiddish and Murphy is a typical herding dog with a herding dog temperament. She made them feel very comfortable while we were gone and my husband and I were reassured the dogs were in good hands as we were out of town. She was very thorough, kept us updated consistently, and was very patient. Also great at reading our dogs' body language! Highly recommend her to care for your dogs, we will definitely hire her again!”

“Good service: Good communication and promptness, excellent rates, and my dog seemed pleased. I’ll definitely use Soraya again if needed in that area (probably in 2 months from now).”
“This was the first time I used a dog/house sitter so I was a bit nervous about the whole thing. But Emoni was great! My pup liked her right away and I was totally comfortable leaving her my house key. She was super communicative and helpful during her stay, even when my dog decided to push down her gate. 🤦🏼♀️😂 I will definitely be a repeat client!”

“We had a great experience with AnnaMaria, she was very responsive, kind, and punctual. She kept us updated the whole time, provided great care to our animals and the house was just as we left it. We will absolutely book with AnnaMaria again. Thank you for taking great care of our boys!”

“John is fantastic! My staffy is very particular with people but he liked John instantly. John Is very patient, very nice, and treats my dog extremely well. You can tell John absolutely loves animals, and I trust him with my pride and joy. I highly recommend John. He is a great guy!”

“We were away for 10 days and left our two dogs, Baxter and Cash, in McKaylee's care. She did an absolutely fantastic job! From the detailed daily updates and photos to the way she kept them happy and on their normal routine, we felt completely at ease the whole time. Baxter can be a bit picky with his food and Cash gets anxious with new people, but McKaylee handled both of them perfectly—they were relaxed, well-exercised, and clearly loved the attention. Our house was spotless when we got back, and the boys were thrilled to see us but also sad to say goodbye to their new favorite sitter. If you're looking for someone reliable, caring, and truly great with pets, McKaylee is the one. We'll definitely be booking her again! Thank you so much! 😊”

“Jasmine was an excellent communicator and gave me plenty of updates regarding my pups. She was very responsive and willing to accommodate the needs of my dogs. I totally recommend her and will absolutely use her again in the future.”

About: I have been an ongoing volunteer at the Animal Defense League of San Antonio since I was about 9 y/o, taking the dogs on walks and socializing the cats and kittens. I have thorough knowledge and experience with raising and fostering kittens, as well as dogs just under 1y/o. I've owned and fostered cats and dogs at varying life stages, throughout my entire life as well. Along with having shadowed a few dog trainers, I am knowledgeable and confident in my ability to care for our sweet, little, fur-babies. Currently, I am in-between jobs, so I as long as I have about a day's heads-up, I'm usually free pretty much any day to care for you furry friend. I perfer to start my work day around afternoon to late afternoon, though morning time isn't a deal-breaker. After meeting and getting acquainted with your fur-baby, I'd appreciate it if, after being told everything you want me to be aware of your pet, you were to also write down detailed notes about your pet's daily routine; feeding times, what food/treats they are and aren't allowed to comsue, common behaviors, what they're allowed and aren't allowed to do around the house, any necessary medications (if any), etc.
“Ashley took great care of our two dogs in our home for 5 days. She communicated well and even came early when I realized I made a mistake on the start time!! We will be having her come stay again on all of our upcoming trips!”

About: I've grown up around dogs and currently have three of my own, so caring for them has been part of my daily life for years. I've also dog sat for family and friends, handling feeding, walks, playtime, and making sure pets feel comfortable while their owners are away. I understand that every dog has a different personality and routine, and I always prioritize their safety, happiness, and well-being. I'll treat your pet with the same care and attention I give my own, and I'll keep you updated with photos and messages during every visit. I'm currently a university student with a flexible schedule, which allows me to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. I do my best to accommodate each pet's routine, whether that means morning walks, afternoon visits, or evening check-ins. I'm happy to communicate with owners to find a schedule that works best for both them and their pets. Your pet's safety and comfort are my top priorities. I carefully follow all feeding, walking, and medication instructions provided by owners and make sure pets stay on their normal routine. I'll always keep doors, gates, and leashes secure, provide plenty of attention and exercise, and send regular photo and text updates so you know your pet is happy and well cared for while you're away.
“Laura was an excellent communicator and seemed to really care about our pets. We appreciate the photos and the well-being of our house upon our return. Pets seem happy and so are we. Thank you!”

“Olivia was so amazing! Seniors last minute to help me out with my dogs. She asked for a meet and greet first which was lovely. She took her time to get to know my dogs and spend good quality time with them; they really enjoyed their time with her!”

About: I’ve taken care of my family yorkies from when they used puppy pads to now training them on how to use the doggie door. I truly miss coming home to endless snuggles and love because let’s be honest I do not get that after my organic chemistry class. I would love the opportunity to help bring some love to your furbabies because sometimes people get busy and animals do not deserve a lack of attention. Not only would I love to help you out, but I see this as your animals helping ME out as I miss my own furballs so much. I can help walk (gets me exercise), feed (gives me dopamine), and even clean lice if ever needed (ask me how I know). I have the gift of only having to be student right now, so any time I can dedicate to your animals is time that I’m also dedicating to my mental health in all honesty haha. Currently my only responsibility is school, which is an extremely privileged thing to say. Summer break is coming up and all I have are summer classes on certain days which I’m happy to work around. Any other time is time I can dedicate to your animals. Respect and trust is the most important service I intend to provide to any client. Your animals are a part of your family just as they are a part of my own family. And the crazy thing is — is that they don’t have a voice (even though I wish they did, seriously who wouldn’t want to talk to animals?!) I intend to be their voice. I will respect any guideline you have if it means keeping your trust and your furbabies trust. With walking, I will go whatever distance they feel comfortable going. With feeding, I will follow whatever guide you have for me. With sitting, I will truly do my job and leave the rest up to any plan you have for me. Communication is also an important factor. I’ve worked in healthcare and plan on working in healthcare in the future, so I understand the necessity of communicating provider to client. I’m here 24/7 because what else do I have to do besides study🙈
About: I have several years of pet sitting experience and over six years of working as a vet tech. I have experience with all animals - large, small, and exotic. I have dog training skills and will keep up your routines with your pets while I care for them. I pet sit part time and will always make sure to care for your pet in the way they deserve. Your fur baby is my number one priority while I care for them. I do drop in visits and walks at your home, where your pet is at ease. I am capable of handling both big and small dogs on walks, as I have one of each. I will always make sure your pet is supervised and getting 100% of my attention during my entire time with them. I never leave a pet alone with anything they could get into and will make sure they are in a safe environment when I leave.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Schertz
Nancy was so great in looking after our fur babies! She had great communication, sent regular updates, and the house was left in perfect condition. Even our timid cat brought Nancy her favorite toy to play fetch. Would absolutely recommend Nancy for pet/house care!

Taylor is incredible. We had HVAC issues while she was house sitting, and she was SO gracious and communicative. She even made sure to rearrange her plans to make sure our HVAC repair tech could check on things. Also, we get so many updates and pictures. As someone who is also a pet sitter and has been on Rover as both a sitter and pet parent since 2016, I can confidently say that Taylor is among the best.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Schertz walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Schertz maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Schertz choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Schertz. On Rover:
- 87% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
