“Thanh was great! We were so relieved to have her come last minute to let our pups out when our neighbor had a family emergency and wasn't able to drop in. She was on time, shared lots of photos, and I appreciated the detailed descriptions of how her drop ins went. We will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future for help with the pups!”

“Soraya has been such a blessing! My work schedule is such that it changes last minute & she is so willing & able to be flexible & understanding. Benji just loves her & I know cause he's slow to come greet most people but always excited to see her! A month or 2 after she started watching him he was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He's undergoing chemo & Soraya has been wonderful helping to get his meds & make sure he feels loved when I can't be here!!! 1000 thumbs up!!!!”

“James was the perfect choice for my fur baby. I had never left Maxwell alone, or without family. James stayed in contact with me, sent lots of pictures to make me feel better. Seeing how my buddy was being loved on, taken on walks, eating well, reassured me that he was comfortable and allowed me to enjoy a weekend away. I will absolutely, 100% ask James to watch Maxwell again, I would highly suggest you do too!!”

“Dominique has been absolutely wonderful with our two dogs, Axle and Rex! She has watched them for several trips now, and we always feel completely comfortable leaving them in her care. She is super communicative, loving, and attentive, and we especially love getting all the check-in pictures and updates while we’re away. It’s so reassuring to see our pups happy and well cared for! We’re so grateful to have found someone we trust and would absolutely recommend Dominique to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter. ❤️”

“Esteban and Alana did a great job with our dog! Great communication along with lots of pictures that kept us at ease while we were away on a trip! Would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable sitter!”

“Kendyll did drop-ins for my dog over the weekend. She took my dog on walks, fed her, played with her, and was very sweet to her while I was gone. She was communicative, respectful of the house, and left everything as I had left it.”

“Gisselle is always accommodating and pays close attention to detail. She remembered how to care for our cats without any issues. Will continue to book with her as long as she’s available”

About: I have taken care of dogs & cats since I was 10! I’ve always been the friendly go to neighbor for daily, weekly, and monthly pet care. I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 geckos of my own and dream of nothing more than to share my love and affection with as many animals as possible. I have worked previously with animal shelters, small rescue groups, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and animal daycare facilities. I love animals of all shapes and sizes and am great at understanding animals boundaries and needs. I also have years of experience with medicating and cleaning up after animals. Every booking includes photo and text updates because I know I would want to make sure my babies are in the best care possible. It brings me joy to take dogs on long walks where they can sniff their environment and get some enrichment so when they get home they can sleep and wait for their parent(s) to come home. I also have experience with dogs who are high energy who are ready to go go go! I work full time Monday-Friday where I am able to bring my dogs with me to work ♥️ They typically spends the weekends with their grandparents so I would love to spend some time loving and taking care of other babies in need of some love and attention. Feel free to message me if you’re interested in booking Monday-Friday after 5pm as I may be able to make an exception. I am very aware of my surroundings both inside and outside as to make sure your home and babies are safe and well taken care of. I tend to clean up any pet related messes I find as dogs and cats often times make messes with their toys, food, and water. My goal is to always leave your pets and home happier & cleaner than when I arrived.

About: I’m a dog mom myself and have been taking care of dogs (and occasionally cats) since I was a kid. I’ll treat your fur babies like they’re my own! I currently work part time and mostly from home, so I’ll have plenty of spare time to take care of your pets. My schedule is flexible, varies week to week, and is something I have control over to change as needed. I’m available for walks, drop in visits, or pet sitting in your home. I’m reliable and a dog mom myself, so I’ll treat your babies just like they’re my own.
“Gladys is 5 Stars! Always spends the full time with Sunny and Zach, sends terrific pictures and gives us such comfort with her care and observations on each visit. Thank you Gladys! We have already booked her next visits-”

About: I’ve always been the kind of person who learns the dog’s name before the human’s. 🐾 Whether your dog is a professional couch potato, a fetch fanatic, a certified Velcro dog, or thinks every walk is the greatest adventure of their life, I love figuring out what makes them happiest. I also have extensive hands on experience with Believe in Dog Training in Houston Heights, where I’ve learned a lot about dog behavior, communication, and training. I’ve personally taken two of my own dogs through training with them, so I understand how important consistency, positive reinforcement, boundaries, and keeping up with the commands and routines your dog already knows can be. I’m comfortable with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I’m happy to follow your normal walking routine, feeding schedule, commands, house rules, and all those little quirks that make your dog your dog. I don’t want your pet to simply be checked off a to do list while you’re gone. They’ll get genuine attention, playtime, walks, love, and cuddles if that’s their thing. And yes, you can absolutely expect photo updates including the unnecessarily cute ones. 🐶❤️ My schedule is flexible, which means I have plenty of time to make your pets a priority! 🐾 I’m available throughout the week for walks, drop ins, playtime, and plenty of attention. I’m happy to work around your pet’s normal routine because we all know they’re the ones actually running the schedule. Whether it’s morning zoomies, an afternoon walk, or dinner served precisely when demanded, I’m there! Your pet’s safety comes first fun is a very close second! 🐾 I follow your instructions, routines, house rules, and training cues closely because consistency matters. I’m careful with doors, gates, leashes, and surroundings, and I’ll never introduce your pet to another animal or take them somewhere new without your permission. I also know every pet has their quirks. Whether I need to give them space, burn off some serious zoomies, throw the ball approximately 900 times, or provide mandatory couch cuddles, I’ll adapt to what makes your pet feel safe and happy. You can expect plenty of updates and pictures along the way because wondering what your pet is doing while you’re gone is half the struggle! ❤️
“Kourtney was great with my dogs and always kept me informed with plenty of pictures. My dogs loved playing with her and she really took the time to keep them active and entertained during her 30 minute visits. I already have our next visits scheduled.”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my dedication to personalized care. I do not have experience in training but I am willing to learn. Ensuring they develop good habits early on. Your pet's comfort and well-being are my top priorities! My work schedule involves overnight shifts, but I am available to provide pet-sitting services during the daytime hours as well as ensuring care at night. In order to care for a pet in another person’s home I take certain steps to ensure the pet is well taken care of. 1. Understand the pet's feeding, exercise, and bathroom routines. 2. Ensure their health and safety by knowing medication needs and emergency contacts. 3. Provide comfort with familiar items and maintain their usual routine. 4. Communicate regularly with the pet owner for updates and any questions.
About: I have been around dogs my whole life. I’ve experienced the puppy stage as well as the elderly stage. I understand that dogs are more than pets, their part of the family. When caring for your dog I promise your dog will be safe while having fun. I currently work part-time. I do have a flexible schedule. I am available everyday in the mornings and afternoons. I am available all day Friday and Saturday. I understand how important your dogs safety and well being is. When watching your dog, their safety is my number one priority. I had to go out of town for a some time and requested Megan services for my boy Jax. I can say without a doubt that I am very happy with the way she handle things, from the meet and greet to the final drop in visit. She was respectful of my home and provided an update for each visit. She was always on time, for the time we agreed on and that consistency speaker of her character. Thank you Megan for making Jax feel loved while I was away. 💯 recommend.

I had a really great experience with Gabriel. Communication was excellent and he kept me updated from start to finish of his visit with photos and let me know how Oliver was doing. I especially appreciated his honesty. He didn't just tell me the good things-he also let me know when mischief was occurring or when Oliver was having a "challenging" moment. As the owner of a young puppy I know what he is capable of. ;o) Gabriel is reliable and trustworthy young man and I will book with him again. ( I already have )

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
