“Sandy is terrific! My dog Mika took to her right away at their Meet & Greet and was happy to see her when she arrived to walk and feed her a couple of days later. She communicates promptly which I really appreciate. I'll definitely be hiring Sandy again.”

“Crystal was absolutely amazing!!!! She was attentive to detail, reliable, kind & professional! She truly went above and beyond! Plus her photos and updates were top tier! Lol I would highly recommend her for your pet sitting/dog walking needs!”

“I highly recommend Rebecca! Everything went very smoothly and she made my family’s time away stress free. She took care of my two dogs and it was clear they were in good hands! She sent several pictures with her updates which was awesome!”

“Leaving Gamma and Delta for a long period of time was incredibly stressful for us, but Melanie completely exceeded our expectations! She came in twice a day for food, to spend quality time with them and sent a lot of daily photos. I was able to enjoy my entire trip with zero worries since we had a pretty good communication with her. Gamma and Delta had a blast, non stop cuddles and a lot of love, also a lot of games and treats, they will miss her! Melanie also helped us with some medication and did an amazing job taking care of our dogs, she left the house spotless, we highly recommend her and will definitely ask for her help in all our future trips!”

About: I have had lots of different types of animal experiences since I was a child including always having a cat in the household and volunteering with animal shelters. My specialty is cats but I have a few years experience with sitting and walking dogs as well. I am always up for a new challenge and am very capable and adaptable. I have worked in many animal shelters, as well as managed a cat shelter, so I am very comfortable approaching all animals. I have a very flexible schedule because I run my own cat oriented business and make my own hours. My whole life is animals, so I love to fit them into my life as much as possible. I currently only offer services in my clients’ homes, and to ensure that their pets are always safe and secure, I am very on top of communication and checking in with my pet parents. I like to review all instructions together to make sure I don’t have any questions and know exactly what contacts are (vet, ER, friends) for emergencies. I always respect other people’s space and will leave things exactly as I left them, if not better. Letting someone into your home to take care of your fur family requires a lot of trust and I feel honored when someone allows me that privilege.
“Carly is a very professional and caring person. Her love for animals and the care she gives them really shows. The attention she has given Daisy and the updates she gives me daily shows how committed she is to giving the best service possible. I would recommend her to anyone if they need a hard working professional to look after their animal companion.”

About: I have 6 years of dog sitting experience with over 10 different families and have cared for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages. I’ve watched puppies as young as 4 months old as well as senior dogs who require extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable administering medications, following specific care routines, and handling high-energy or larger breeds. I truly enjoy spending time with animals and always make sure pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away. I also have two dogs of my own at home, so caring for animals has always been part of my daily life. Starting July 1, I’ll be working a hybrid research assistant position at Yale. I’ll typically be in the office on Mondays and working from home the rest of the week, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of time to care for pets throughout the day. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, house sitting, and overnight care, including weekends. I always make sure pets receive lots of attention, exercise, and companionship while their owners are away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine are always my top priorities. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and energy levels, from playful puppies to senior dogs who may need extra care and patience. About: I rescued my own dog from a shelter, and she required a lot of special training and patience. I worked with her on socialization, leash walking, and reducing pulling and barking around other dogs, and I have successfully helped her improve in all of these areas. Since she was a puppy when I adopted her, I also have experience with the patience, consistency, and care that younger dogs require. In addition, I care for a senior dog, so I am experienced in recognizing when a dog has reached their physical limit during walks and understanding how to adjust care based on their needs. Having experience with both younger and older dogs, as well as both large and small breeds, has taught me how to handle dogs of different sizes, temperaments, and training levels with confidence and care. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Hamden
Tatyana did a great job with the drop-in visits for our Golden while we were away for an overnight! She followed all our instructions and was always very responsive. We had a delivery of perishable food while we were away and she even volunteered to put the food in the fridge for us! I felt very comfortable leaving Koda’s care in her hands and wouldn’t hesitate to use her again.

Melanie was wonderful with our cat! Our cat automatically went right up to her, which is always a great sign. She followed all of our instructions carefully, was very accommodating, and communicated well throughout the process. Her rates were also very reasonable, and she was kind, reliable, and easy to work with. We felt comfortable knowing our cat was in good hands and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy pet sitter!

Carly is wonderful! She took great care of Frankie and Pearl and was patient with them as they got acclimated to her. We had never used Rover before and she made the process seamless and answered all of our questions. Not only is she kind, but she’s extremely detail oriented and loving. We will definitely be booking her again and would recommend her to anyone who needs their animals taken care of. Thank you, Carly!!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
