“Lateria was awesome with Penny. She was very attentive with Penny's needs and asked questions to confirm that she was meeting my needs for Penny. I will definitely use her again in the future and would recommend her to other Rover users.”

“Brittany has always been reliable as a drop in Sitter for our two very active dogs. She give some water is great with cleaning them off if it’s wet outside and ensures that they get to stretch their legs and play in our fenced in backyard. I would recommend Brittany.”

“McGhee did a fabulous job with our cat Griffin. She provided great updates and sent photos. I felt safe with her in our home while we were away. We will definitely be using her again!”
About: I’ve had dogs growing up all my life , and have my own dog currently ! I watch all of my friend’s dogs as my dog loves company, and I work from home most of the time . I am attentive and loving as I believe it takes a village to support animals ! I work mostly from home , with having to leave occasionally to go out into the field . My dogs needs are prioritized and when home she is let out to play or be outside every hour or more . I have a fenced in yard and one fur baby to keep your dog company! Xena is very friendly and loves to play, while also respecting boundaries of the dogs she is with .
“We have used Aubrey and Brandon several times when we have gone on trips and they have taken wonderful care of our pets, been respectful of our home and responsive when we had questions or requests to see images of certain pets we missed! One time over the holiday the power went out and they were willing to stay extra time until it seemed the power came on if needed, and as they are nearby were able to leave and come check on the pets as the day went on — they were able to use common sense in an unexpected situation. Our shy cats aren’t scared of them and they know how to win over both cats and dogs. 5 stars plus and overall amazing experience !!”
“Kim is very friendly, courteous and polite. My dogs immediately took a liking to Kim and showed her how comfortable they were with her while holding them in her arms. As soon as my dogs were placed on Kim's lap, they stopped barking (usually a constant barkers) and became calm. Kim's secure, loving affection she conveys has a valuable impact to my dogs' temperaments.”

“Kelly was able to accommodate us last minute for a drop in visit for our pup. She was prompt and followed our instructions for our senior boy. We would highly recommend!”

“Maisie absolutely loves Raquel, and she was able to come last minute with no issues! She goes above and beyond when hanging out with my dog, and I know Maisie is in good hands when Raquel is there!”

About: I have always been surrounded by dog, whether it was my own or taking care of others. I believe that dogs deserve as much love as they give us. I am a homebody, but that means that I'll be more available to hang out with your dog for walks or trips to the park. I live in a townhouse apartment, which means that I have experience with walking dogs around non-fenced areas. This also means I will be observant if you do have a fenced area.

I work full time currently, but I have a flexible schedule and work fully remote from my home office. I can be very flexible and attentive to your dog’s needs during the day and evenings! I'm currently working a part-time job which lets me keep my schedule open and flexible. I'm available mornings and evenings most week days and weekends. About: I have been caring for a variety of pets for as long as I can remember. Growing up, we always had at least three to four animals in our home, and I’ve had the opportunity to care for many different species, breeds, sizes, and personalities. I currently have two cats of my own, and they are truly my pride and joy. I have also spent the past few years volunteering at an animal shelter in Cincinnati, where I gained experience working with dogs of all backgrounds, personalities, and behavior styles, as well as assisting in the medical clinic. This experience has helped me better understand animal behavior, patience, and the importance of providing compassionate care for every pet’s individual needs. I love getting to know each animal’s personality and will take the time to learn their routines, preferences, and boundaries. Whether your pet enjoys walks, playtime, cuddles, enrichment, or simply having a calm and caring presence nearby, I’m happy to provide care in the way that makes them happiest while giving you peace of mind that they are in great hands. I currently work in a research role that gives me the flexibility to come and go as needed, allowing me to provide reliable and attentive care throughout the day. I’m able to accommodate different routines and schedules to make sure your pet gets the attention, exercise, and companionship they need. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors — running, biking, hiking, and going on walks — and would love to have your pet(s) join me for some adventures if that’s something they enjoy! At the same time, I’m just as happy spending a quiet afternoon on the couch with pets who prefer a slower pace. Whether your pet is active and loves exploring or is happiest relaxing at home, I’m happy to meet them where they are and provide care that fits their personality and routine. I have a fenced-in backyard available for quick potty breaks and a safe outdoor space when pets are staying with me. I also live close to walking trails and dog parks, giving dogs the opportunity for walks, enrichment, and exercise if that fits their routine and comfort level. I have two cats of my own who are an important part of my family. They have spent a lot of time around dogs through visits to my parents’ home, as well as when I have brought dogs home for day trips and foster stays from my time volunteering at the animal shelter. I understand that every pet has different comfort levels, so I always prioritize slow introductions, supervision, and making sure all animals feel safe and comfortable. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I treat your space with the same respect I would want for my own. I am neat, tidy, and attentive, and I will leave your home exactly as I found it while making sure your pet receives the care, attention, and routine they are used to.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gorman
Hope took wonderful care of my bunnies during her drop-in visits, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. She made sure they were fed daily, gave them lots of love and attention, kept their litter box clean, and sent photos along with timely updates so I always knew how they were doing. This was my first time using Rover to book someone to help care for my pets while I was away, and Hope made the entire process feel easy and reassuring. Her communication was excellent, and it was clear she was very kind and gentle with my fur babies. I would absolutely book with her again and 1000% recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
