“Eli is excellent! Very dependable, he spent lots of snuggly time to make my anxious dog trust him. And he kept my plants alive during a drought. I will rebook with Eli when needed next!”

“Kristen is wonderful! Our cat, Oriole, immediately took to her, which is no surprise because she has such a warm, friendly personality. Thank you, Kristen, for your amazing pet care!”

About: I’ve been pet sitting for over 5 years and absolutely love getting to know your pets and you! I’ve cared for dogs, birds, rabbits and cats of all ages from energetic puppies to senior pets needing a little extra patience and care. I’m experienced with feeding schedules, administering oral medications, and supporting pets with anxiety or special routines. I always take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and loved. I treat every pet like my own and keep communication open with regular updates and photos so you always know how they’re doing. My goal is for you to feel at ease and your pet to feel happy and at home. I currently am in graduate school at Duke, so my schedule is flexible! That means I have plenty of time each day to play, walk, and care for your pets. I’m available for boarding on both weekdays and weekends, and I make sure every pet gets lots of attention and care throughout the day. I live on 13 acres of beautiful land with backyard access to trails, which gives plenty of space for walks and outdoor playtime. While the area isn’t fenced, I always keep pets safe and supervised during any time outside. I don’t currently have any pets of my own, so your furry friends will have my full attention and plenty of company while they’re here. I also know many pets feel more comfortable staying in their own familiar environment, so I’m always happy to care for them in your home. I primarily offer in-home sitting and make sure to maintain your pet’s normal routine so they feel secure, relaxed, and loved while you’re away.
About: Since I was younger I have been house sitting for families. I am very passionate about pets, and would love to be able to help you out! I have a full time work schedule but have very random weekdays off. I can be your girl for those random drop ins when you’re not able to get home! I currently live with my cat Nelly and family dog, Roo. My dog is getting much older so him and I like to go on shorter walks these days.

“Cameron took wonderful care of our cats while we were away. He was kind, gentle, and incredibly thoughtful with them. He spent quality time playing with them and kept us updated every day with photos and videos, which gave us so much peace of mind. Our cats are naturally shy, but Cameron was patient and let them warm up at their own pace, it was amazing to see that they had opened up to him within just two days. Beyond being fantastic with pets, Cameron is also a genuinely pleasant person to talk to. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would happily book him again!”

“Brooke is fabulous! She takes such great care of our cats when we travel. She is extremely communicative, thorough, and clearly loves animals. I am very grateful to have found her on Rover and highly recommend!”

“Brian was fantastic! He took excellent care of our fur babies and treated them like his own. His communication was great during all visits and provided excellent updates with pictures.”

“Ashley was absolutely amazing. She was able to get all the cats to play with her, even the shy one. She sent photos of them on every visit and spent some real quality time with them as well. We felt completely at ease having her come to our house every day. We knew the cats and home were very well looked after. Ashley was very easy to communicate with and is very sweet. We really enjoyed working with her and will ask again in the future. Thank you, from the Bricenos (And Cleo, Leo & Kevin!)”

“Sarah was a great sitter for our two cats, fish and gecko! Our meet and greet was a pleasure, she was always prompt with messages and very understanding & adaptable about our cat’s grumpy demeanor. I would definitely book with her again!”

About: Hi! My legal name is Diana, but I prefer to go by Joey. I grew up with pets of all kinds, and have been pet-sitting for over ten years. I began in my neighborhood when I was in middle school, and over the years, I became well-acquainted with my neighbors and their pets. Several continue to hire me to this day. I have experience with dogs, cats, and many exotic species. I'm particularly fond of reptiles and have a leopard gecko. I am patient and calm, so elderly and shy animals tend to do well with me. Respecting an animal's boundaries (while ensuring they are properly taken care of) is very important to me. Most recently, I worked with Pet Butler and received over twenty 5-star reviews while employed by them. I do freelance work from home and make my own schedule, so I can accommodate my clients easily. When house-sitting, I spend the majority of my time in the client's home, prioritizing that pet's schedule while doing other drop-in visits during the day if possible. I offer drop-in visits and house-sitting at my client's home. I am very detail-oriented and read instructions before each job, regularly referencing them while getting to know the routine. Safety is very important to me, so for any pet visit, there are some basic protocols I follow. I do not use retractable leashes and keep a spare in my car in case a client does not have a standard leash.

About: I’ve taken care of my sister’s dogs in the past and have been around animals my whole life. I absolutely love to be around animals I always find peace when I’m around them and I’m wanting more experience with animals. I’ve always been an animal person and would love to experience more. I spend lots of time outdoors and love to go on walks. I’m currently enrolled at cape fear community college for veterinary technology my class is at 8-10:45. I work a part-time job as a hostess other than that my schedule is wide open I currently don’t have any pets of my own but when I did I took very good care of them, grooming them and making sure they had the essentials
“Alexandra provided care in our home for two dogs over multiple days. She followed all of our instructions and showed up on time to all the assigned visits. Based on the photos she provided of each visit, the dogs were comfortable with her and even ate regularly, which they sometimes do not when we are away. We would hire Alexandra again without hesitation.”

“Caitlin was so attentive and caring with our home and pets. She definitely loved them as her own and gave us wonderful updates and took the time they needed. We will be reaching back out to her in the future. It’s difficult to find someone you can trust and she is very kind as well as trusting. Thank you again so much again”

About: I work from home, which gives me plenty of time to hang out with your fur baby. I can do obedience training if requested, and all the treats I have are homemade with good ingredients and love:) I have a golden retriever myself. I take her out for potty at 6 in the morning, followed by food time and a longer walk around the neighborhood. While I work at home, I take my dog out to play every 1-2 hours. Five in the afternoon is our dog’s second meal. Then depending on the weather, I take my dog out for a long walk in the evening. I treat my clients’ pets as mine! I never leave pets unsupervised in the back yard, and since I work from home, I always keep an eye on the dog during the day. Treats are homemade with good ingredients and love, but make sure you let me know any allergies your fur babies have.
“Jade followed my every direction! I was grateful for Jade kindness. My pups got into a big bag of cake mix and it was everywhere. She cleaned it up and put the bag on the counter.”

“A quick visit ahead of our trip. It went smoothly. Meredith sent a check-in message and photo, and they watched some Bob Ross together. Wallaby seemed comfortable with her. It was a good visit to reestablish their familiarity with each other before our trip.”

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
