“Our flight was canceled so our cats needed extended care. Sophia was more than accommodating and agreed to stay with them until we got home. I cannot express my gratitude enough and the weight of not having to worry about my babies due to this unforeseen circumstance lifted. Sophia was reliable on providing frequent updates so it made me feel that are babies were safe and well taken cared of.”

“Attentive, trustworthy miracle-worker! I needed a sitter last minute and Kelsey responded right away. She brings her dog with her and was very upfront about that. She was also very thoughtful about ensuring the dogs met in a way that was the least stressful for them (and me!). She arrived early to spend time with Merlin and chat with me, which was much appreciated. I felt completely comfortable with her taking care of Merlin and being in my home. She was very kind and clearly very attentive to Merlin, even playing bird songs to relax and distract him. He has separation anxiety and normally howls, barks, and paces when I leave. He had no trouble with Kelsey though and seemed very relaxed when I got home. It was amazing! I would absolutely recommend her.”

About: I have owned and taken care of dogs and cats my entire life. Any of my friends can tell you how much I love dogs, and how excited I am to see all of them around Miami! I am highly qualified to take care of senior pets or puppies/kittens and have done so before. I have experience with large/small animals, and rescue or purebred. I am capable of walking/exercising, brushing, feeding, playing, and fully taking care of your pets! I treat each pet like my own and strive for genuine, loving care of them! I am available all day on Saturdays and Sundays, and weekday mornings/nights. I'm a graduate student, so my only time conflict is classes around midday. I also work part-time as a barista on Monday mornings. I am extremely attentive and patient with pets. I've raised three dogs at home in Georgia, and have experience potty training in both houses and apartments. I also have experience with dogs with heart disease, anxiety, and asthma. I have identified when dogs are choking and have food poisoning, and provided the necessary care.
“Jess has been our dog/house sitter since last year, and we are so happy to have found her. She is fantastic. This last trip we thought she might not be available, but she adjusted her schedule and made it work, which we truly appreciated. The photos and videos she sends show just how much she loves our baby. She always leaves our home spotless, and we feel so grateful to have such a kind and reliable sitter. 12 out of 10, would absolutely recommend.”
“Connie was amazing! She was able to sit on relatively short notice, clear communication, adapted to my cats’ typical schedules, and took great care of them and my apartment for the 2 weeks while I was gone. Will definitely book again!”

About: I've always loved dogs and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. About: Hi, I’m Cynthia, a Master’s student originally from the Midwest. I spent two months pet sitting in the D.C. area in May 2023 and that was the start of an incredible journey. Since then I have cared for everything from cats to dogs to birds. I’ve even once cared for a colleague’s hedgehog! In March, I settled in Miami while I pursue my degree because I love the weather here. Anywho, I’d love to spend some time taking care of your furry friends. I’m open to short or long term sits or walks! I currently work from home part-time and am a very part-time student. I have plenty of time to care for your furry family members while you are away. I do not care for pets in my home at this time. It is more convenient for me to sit at the owner's place of residence.
“Michael took great care of my dog Mochi and my house. He's friendly and very easy to talk with about dog things and beyond. He graciously accepted my last minute request to house sit, and followed my detailed instructions for Mochi's routine. I'll definitely ask him to house sit for Mochi again.”

About: Cuidar mascotas es el mejor trabajo del mundo!! I have been pet sitting for 15 plus years. I have always had a dog and cat of my own since I was a child. I can’t imagine life without them. I enjoy taking care of my friends, family and client’s pets even more since I moved to the USA and miss my own pets so much. I am available for taking your pet for walks, bath and brushing, assuring hygiene of the pet and environment, have fun playing, feeding them even if special attention is needed (like hand feeding) 😊 it has happened! I can adapt and implement their routines as needed. I have a part time job currently, looking forward into making pet sitting my full time job, because honestly...doesn't feel like a job to me... so if you have to travel or simply don't wanna let your baby alone COUNT ON ME!! It will be my pleasure... reach at any time I HAVE no pets living with me at this time. Taking care of yours so they don’t feel lonely makes my day. Since little girl I would rescue dogs in my native country. To me they are the expression of unconditional love
About: Cared for dogs of different sizes, ages, and temperaments. Managed feeding, walking, playtime, and basic grooming. Provided companionship and ensured pets felt safe while owners were away. Comfortable following specific instructions (medications, routines, crate training, etc.) Prioritize safety, cleanliness, and lots of love and attention. I am currently a stay at home mom so we spend lots of time outside! We are always going on walks as we live in a beautiful community with lots of paths and grass for playing. We have an apartment so space is limited here but we can go to the dog park, park, on walks, etc. They can roam freely throughout the house if house / potty trained.
“Heather was amazing with Nova! We needed someone to watch her while we were away for a day trip, and Heather stayed at our home from the morning through the afternoon. She kept us updated throughout the day with plenty of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind. Heather also brought her dog Juco who Nova had met during the meet and greet. Nova had an absolute blast having a friend to play with all day! It was clear that Heather truly cared about making sure Nova was happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I highly recommend Heather (and Juco!) and will definitely be booking with her again in the future. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Nova! 🐾💕”

“Andrea makes my cat so happy. She is very thoughtful and considerate in her care. And spends good, quality time with her. My cat especially enjoys the playtime and cuddles! She also introduced my kitty to cat TV which she loves! :)”

About: I have been caring for animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up around pets since I was five years old which has given me a lifetime of hands-on experience with animals of all ages sizes and personalities. Caring for pets isn’t just something I do - I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I take the time to get to know each pet’s routine , personality and needs to ensure they are comfortable and cared for while you’re away. Whether it’s going for walks, sticking to feeding plans, or just simply spending quality time with them. I want every pet to have a positive stress-free experience. I work full time 4 days out of the week. I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. I also wake up very early at 6 am and I always have a lot of time after i finish work at 6 to make sure any booked pets are well taken care of. With animals, it is all about body language. I would make sure they approach me and get to know me first before I reach out and make contact myself. Only after then I can tell if the pet is skid-dish and needs some time and encouragement or if they trust easy I would make sure to acknowledge that and show the love back. Going from there I would be able to handle them like they were my own and make sure they are well taken care of. These animals are souls that cannot express themselves with words and I make sure I can hear them and have them trust me.

“Stephanie did a great job taking care of our two cats. One of our cats has asthma and she administered his inhaler twice a day. She was also very communicative and detail-oriented and sent great pictures of the cats. We could tell they were happy to have her taking care of them while we were gone. We would happily use her again as a petsitter. We highly recommend her.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fisher Island
Jess stayed with my 14 year old husky while I went out of town. I was so relieved to have found someone so great, kind and patient with my senior pup. She made sure to give her med every night, took her time taking her out for short walks 4-5 times a day, was super conscious of the heat and hand fed her. She left my place exactly as she found it. Couldn’t be happier with Jess’s time at my place.

Still only fabulous things to say about Troy! Our rescue boy, an 80 lb American bulldog mix gets a bit sad and anxious when we leave, but we feel completely comfortable knowing Troy is with him! And I’m pretty sure they’ve become great buddies. When Troy showed up only a month later after his first house sitting, Cashie was super excited to see him and brought him a toy :) Highly recommend! Thank you Troy!!

Yana came to dog sit our very anxious cavapoo, Bubbles! She went above and beyond making sure he felt safe, comfortable, and loved. She was excellent following our detailed instructions and communicating with us about how he was doing. Would absolutely book Yana again in a heartbeat. Can’t recommend her enough!
Overall, we had a positive experience with Sofia and Archie and Miles appeared to be well cared for while we were away. Everything seemed to go smoothly and we returned home to two happy dogs. My only suggestion would be more frequent communication and photos during the stay. As a pet parent, it's always reassuring to receive regular updates and see how the dogs are doing while you're away. Regardless, we appreciated the care provided and would definitely book again in the future.
Anna is one of a kind! Anna dog sat for my dog Chewy and stayed at my place for almost a full month. She is super attentive, reliable, communicative, and clean! I have a super anxious dog who is on medication, and Anna was always giving me updates and giving my dog Chewy extra care and love; even buying her a dog toy! Couldn’t recommend Anna enough! 🤩🤩

Monique spent a night house sitting our 13 year old cockapoo who does not like to be alone. Monique was a great communicator, reliable and Callie seemed to really enjoy her company. She left the house in great shape and Callie was calm and happy. Would definitely ask Monique to dog sit again!

Natalia is a compassionate and attentive dog sitter who provided exceptional care for my 2-year-old Alaskan Klee Kai. My pup has separation anxiety which means it's hard to leave her at home alone. Natalia's warm and gentle nature put her at ease right away. I first booked a drop-in visit a few days prior to meet and greet before the longer stay. Natalia's thoughtful questions and attention to preparation details gave me confidence in her ability to provide top-notch care. From the moment we met I knew this is the sweetest person on earth. She's so caring and her engaging energy drew my pup right to her to feel safe and friends. During her 6+ hour stay the evening of my events, Natalia kept us updated with sweet photos and messages, and even took pup on a fun-filled walk and patiently extended her play sessions. It's clear Natalia is a true animal lover with a kind heart. I felt like I was leaving my fur-daughter with a friend, not a stranger. Highly recommend Natalia!

when it comes to Lulu's care, and Lauren exceeded every single one of them. She cared for my senior dog Lulu, who has significant needs due to advanced arthritis, and Lauren handled everything with such grace, patience, and attentiveness. She was incredibly gentle with Lulu, taking every precaution to keep her comfortable, and it was clear she truly understood and cared about Lulu's unique challenges. Lauren was also a joy to communicate with — responsive, responsible, and reassuring throughout. If you have a dog with special needs, look no further. Lauren is a gem, and Lulu and I are so grateful to have found her. Five stars, without hesitation!

Carolane was amazing!! She was prompt with all responses and helped keep me updated with my babies while I was gone. She was great with my older dog Bella and my kitten Rae who recently had surgery so that was a huge relief for me as having multiple animals can be tough! We will be looking forward to our next booking with Carolane again :)

Olga was absolutely amazing with Mia and Milos! She is incredibly thoughtful and caring, she fed them on time, took them out regularly, and kept me updated with every little detail. I loved all the photos she sent throughout their stay, which made me feel so comfortable and at ease. My dogs were truly happy with her. I would definitely have her watch them again. Highly recommend!

Ilgas was amazing. She was prompt and on time. I was the one running a little late and she was very flexible and understanding. She took great care of my pet and left my place exactly as she found it. I am really happy with the service and would definitely book with her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Fisher Island on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 3,928 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fisher Island. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fisher Island walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fisher Island maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fisher Island choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fisher Island. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
