“Jess has been our dog/house sitter since last year, and we are so happy to have found her. She is fantastic. This last trip we thought she might not be available, but she adjusted her schedule and made it work, which we truly appreciated. The photos and videos she sends show just how much she loves our baby. She always leaves our home spotless, and we feel so grateful to have such a kind and reliable sitter. 12 out of 10, would absolutely recommend.”
“I HIGHLY recommend working with Lux (Emily B.). We needed a last minute cat sitter to come do a house stay. We were hesitant about leaving because our elderly cat had recently gotten injured, but Lux kept a careful eye on them the whole time and sent regular updates and sweet photos. They are kind, communicative, responsible, and genuinely love animals. They even stayed a bit longer than required to make sure our cat had company till we got home. So thoughtful, we will definitely be working with them again!”
“Andreina & Mercedes were absolutely great and provided 5 star service. Great communication with detailed updates and pictures throughout the stay. Would definitely recommend and book again. Thank you so much!”

“Mia did such an amazing job with Milo and Theo. She was prompt with responding to my messages and communicating if she was running late. My Theo got an upset tummy and she was proactive to communicate with me and give him some medicine I had in the house. I came back and my home was how I left it any boys were happy to see me. I would definitely book with her again.”

About: Hi! I’m Nicole. 👋 I’m an experienced pet caregiver and former Assistant Manager at a busy doggy daycare, where I worked with dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities every day. That experience taught me how to confidently care for energetic puppies, senior dogs, and pets that need a little extra patience. I’m also a proud cat mom to two rescue cats, so I love caring for both dogs and cats. 🐶🐱 As a freelancer, I have a flexible schedule and can give your pet the time, attention, and love they deserve. I’ll also keep you updated with plenty of photos and regular check-ins, so you’ll always know how your pet is doing while you’re away. My goal is to make both you and your pet feel comfortable, cared for, and completely at ease. I currently work as a freelancer, which means my schedule is very flexible and easy to adjust around pet care. Whether it’s morning walks, afternoon playtime, or evening check-ins, I can usually adapt to what your pet needs. I love being able to give them consistent attention without rushing — they truly get my time and care. 💛 At home, I focus on creating a calm and loving space where my pets feel safe and understood. I pay close attention to their body language, routines, and little habits because every animal has their own way of communicating.

About: I've had dogs in my life since I was 5 years old, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. Beyond my own dogs, I've also taken care of dogs belonging to friends, family, and my roommate — walking them often and playing with them regularly. I love spoiling dogs with attention and affection, and I make sure they feel safe, loved, and well exercised I work a full-time job during the day, which is why I'm available weekday evenings starting at 6:00 PM. The good news is that my weekends are completely free, so I'm available all day Saturday and Sunday to take care of your pets! During drop-in visits and walks, I follow the dog's usual routine to keep them comfortable — making sure they have food and water, giving them attention and playtime, and adjusting the walk to their energy level and pace. I treat every dog with the same love and care I'd give my own, always keeping their safety and happiness as my priority.

About: I've always loved dogs and understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your pet. As a dog owner myself, I care for my Schnauzer, Benji, every day and know that every dog has their own personality and needs. I provide plenty of attention, playtime, walks, and affection while following each owner's routine as closely as possible. I believe in keeping pet parents updated with photos and messages so they know their furry family member is safe, happy, and well cared for. My goal is to make every dog feel comfortable, loved, and treated like part of my own family I work full-time, but I carefully schedule my bookings to ensure every pet receives the time, attention, and care they deserve. During visits, I focus on walks, playtime, feeding, potty breaks, and plenty of affection. I keep pet parents updated with photos and messages so they can feel confident their furry family member is happy and well cared for. I strive to be reliable, flexible, and responsive when arranging care. Your pet's safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn each dog's routine, personality, and any special instructions before every visit. I carefully monitor pets during walks and playtime, keep fresh water available, and make sure they are always secure. I respect every owner's preferences and will provide regular updates with photos and messages throughout the stay or visit. My goal is to create a calm, safe, and loving environment where your pet feels comfortable and cared for.
About: Hi, My name is Michael M. I just moved backed home to Miami. Since my first memories we have always owned dogs. My mom had a habit of picking up stray dogs. Her heart always broke when she saw a furry defenseless dog begging for food or needing shelter. My mom's big heart exposed me to many types of dogs all different sizes and temperament. I have been dog sitting for a while now and it's one of my favorite things to do. I am a realtor and I am able to work from home during the day while clients are working and when I am away it's for only a few hours at a time. I have a fenced yard. Like I said my dog loves social interaction with other friendly doggies and would love to find friends he could play with. I am a real estate agent with my office at home. I will be able to watch over them while they play.
About: I can try and train puppies since I trained my dog since I had her. My dog is also bilingual which I can also teach your own dog. I am always making sure my dog is well fed, played enough outside, and has my company through the day. There are other dogs in my building and all are registered as ES dogs that are well-trained and friendly as well. My apartment is right next to a bay with a lot of grass and a field to play. Your dog will never be bored. I let my dog loose of a leash but if your dog has a leash, i can certainly keep it on for both so they do not feel left out.
“I would highly recommend Jane! My two dogs were very happy when I got home, so it’s clear that she took great care of them and they had a great time with her. She took them on lots of walks, spent time outside with them and sent a lot of pictures which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was traveling for work for a few days. Can’t wait to book with Jane again.”

“Jackie is such a pleasant person and an excellent care taker for our Megan and Saber and our home. We are blessed to have her in our lives. We cannot wait to have her back! Highly recommended.”

“Connie did an amazing job looking after our dog and our home while we were away! Our dog, Layla, is a bit older and has her own little quirks, so we are always a little anxious leaving her. However, Connie was so patient and gentle that she got Layla to warm up to her in no time. Connie maintained fantastic communication throughout the entire stay, sending lots of updates and sweet photos that completely put our minds at ease. On top of the incredible pet care, she took wonderful care of our house as well. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Connie to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and caring pet sitter.”

“David was a very accommodating sitter, and I felt comfortable knowing Boo and Roosevelt were in his care. He was flexible when we were delayed in getting back home, which was so sweet of him and his mother.”

Miles did a great job checking in on my big girl, she’s 90 lbs of energy and immediately did well with his calm demeanor. I’d recommend if you’d want someone reliable, thoughtful, & responsible. Checked in with me daily and sent photos of her to update, will likely hire again for future check ins. 🙏🏽💯

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Brownsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Brownsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Brownsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Brownsville. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
