“Dear Mizz Caroline L., I want to thank you for your 1st time visit and routine with my pet. He truly seemed to gravitate to you and your skillful pet talents. I will call on you if needed and especially with the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays approaching.”
About: I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I’m very intuitive with animals—I quickly pick up on their needs, moods, and personalities. I’ve cared for both playful puppies and sweet seniors, always adapting to their pace and comfort. I also bring calm energy, lots of love, and a silly sense of humor that pets seem to love! It fits perfectly into my schedule on a daily basis. It can be a great side job for me that I will highly enjoy, since I love interacting with animals. I play with them. I feed them well. Also, I take them to the park to play and remain active as well as interact with them.
About: I’ve loved animals my whole life, and for the past 4 years I’ve been caring for dogs through walking, drop-ins, and house sitting. I’ve looked after dogs at every stage of life, from energetic puppies who need patience, structure, and plenty of play, to senior dogs who do best with a gentle pace, extra comfort, and close attention to their needs. I adapt my care to each dog’s age, energy level, and personality. That might mean a long, active walk for one dog and a slow stroll plus some cuddle time for another. Spending time with animals is genuinely fun for me, and I want every dog I care for to feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. You can count on me to follow your routines and keep you updated on how your pup is doing Working from home gives me a flexible schedule that makes pet care a natural part of my day. Pets staying with me get my company throughout the day, with regular breaks for walks, potty trips, meals, and playtime built around my work. A typical day starts with a morning walk at the park next to my house, followed by breakfast and some downtime while I work nearby. Midday brings another walk or play session. Evenings are for one more good outing, dinner, and relaxing together. I’m happy to adjust this to match your pet’s usual routine, energy level, and needs. Since I’m home most of the time, I can easily fit in dog walks and drop-in visits for clients, and I always plan my week so that every pet in my care gets the time and attention they deserve. Because I work from home, pets staying with me are never left alone for long stretches. They get company, attention, and regular potty breaks throughout the day. My home is calm and pet-friendly, and I make sure it’s safe and secure before every stay. I have a friendly cat who is used to living with both dogs and cats, so most pets settle in easily. If your pet needs their own space, or if they’re still getting comfortable, I can keep them separated so everyone stays relaxed and stress-free. There’s a huge dog-friendly park right next to my house, which makes it easy to fit plenty of walks, exercise, and outdoor play into each day. When I’m caring for pets in your home, I’ll follow your routines closely, keep your home secure, and send updates so you always know how your pet is doing.

“Raquel is a perfect dog sitter! She is professional in her communication and took loving care of our bulldog. Love that she sent photos and videos during her lunch visits while I was out of town. I feel grateful and relieved to have found her and now feel like travel is possible again. Thank you Raquel!”
“Reeva was absolutely fantastic! She took care of my two cats for two weeks, and during that time, she provided lots of updates and pictures. My kitties were well taken care of when I returned and were happy and healthy, as she administered medication for my one cat during her visits. I feel so comfortable having Reeva come take care of my kitties on my next vacation!”

About: I speak both English and Spanish! I’m originally from Patagonia, where stray dogs are a common sight. I adopted two dogs of my own and learned how to understand their needs, build trust, and train them with patience and positive reinforcement. I believe every dog deserves to feel safe, loved, and happy. Whether it’s boarding, house sitting, walks, or drop-in visits, I’ll treat your furry friend with the same love, care, and attention I gave my own! 🐶❤️ I’m currently available, so I have a flexible schedule and can easily manage my time around pet care. I’m also a photographer, which means I can work around different schedules—and yes, I’m a pet photographer too! 😉 I have a fenced backyard with a small tree where pets can enjoy some outdoor time safely. I also have a pet net on my door, so they can go inside or outside comfortably while staying safe. I don't use to listen music. I prefer to read or work on my computer so they won't suffer loud noises. I also have a car in case a pickup or drop-off is needed. I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for in my home or my client’s home.
About: I have been caring for animals for as long as I can remember. Growing up around pets since I was five years old which has given me a lifetime of hands-on experience with animals of all ages sizes and personalities. Caring for pets isn’t just something I do - I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. I take the time to get to know each pet’s routine , personality and needs to ensure they are comfortable and cared for while you’re away. Whether it’s going for walks, sticking to feeding plans, or just simply spending quality time with them. I want every pet to have a positive stress-free experience. I work full time 4 days out of the week. I have Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. I also wake up very early at 6 am and I always have a lot of time after i finish work at 6 to make sure any booked pets are well taken care of. With animals, it is all about body language. I would make sure they approach me and get to know me first before I reach out and make contact myself. Only after then I can tell if the pet is skid-dish and needs some time and encouragement or if they trust easy I would make sure to acknowledge that and show the love back. Going from there I would be able to handle them like they were my own and make sure they are well taken care of. These animals are souls that cannot express themselves with words and I make sure I can hear them and have them trust me.
About: I treat every pet like my own, providing loving, attentive, and reliable care. I prioritize safety, communication, and making every pet feel happy and comfortable. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to easily incorporate pet care into my daily routine. I love spending time with animals and enjoy making time for walks, playtime, and giving pets the attention and care they deserve. Your pet’s safety, happiness, and comfort are my top priorities! I treat every animal as if they were my own, ensuring they feel loved, safe, and cared for. I always follow owners’ instructions carefully, maintain a clean and comfortable environment, and provide regular updates for peace of mind.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Fisher Island
Cara did a great job with my cat, Elton. He has some specific diet and health needs. She was super patient and helpful. He’s also very shy and she was sensitive to that as well. I also appreciate her communication with me along the way. I recommend Cara and will book her again in the future!

Alan was an amazing help for me while away on a week trip. He checked on my two cats, doing small tasks for their care and interacting with them to assure their human needs. He made my time away worry free. I am very grateful for that. Will happily use his help in the future again.

Eva was amazing with my 2 cats! She very quickly got to know them and put them at ease, shared lots of updates, was very good with communication, and followed the care instructions perfectly. (One of our cats takes meds daily) The most seamless experience on Rover we've had so far!

We recently started using Mary for dog sitting, and it’s been an excellent experience from the start. She is incredibly reliable, communicative, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. Our dog warmed up to her right away, which gave us a lot of peace of mind. Our dog usually doesn’t warm up to people when she first meets them. It’s not easy to find someone you fully trust with your pet, but Mary has exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable and caring dog sitter.

At 2am I downloaded Rover after realizing I never checked my cats automated feeder before I left town. I requested Fabiana for her to check on my cat that morning and she accepted my request by 7am on Xmas Eve. She was super polite and professional. I would use her again.

Lee was the most competent dog care professional we've ever worked with! He was a great communicator. He arrived on time. He made full use of his scheduled time to take care of our fur babies. We have a difficult trauma pup and Lee was expert and patient at handling his needs. We're looking forward to rebooking with Lee in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
