“Laura was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. This way my first time using rover and I was skeptical considering these are people you don’t know and I would be letting them in my home. Laura was amazing. My dog loved her. Everything was left as was when we returned. She communicated very well and pleasant. Sent us plenty of photos and effectively communicated. We will be using her and her only in the future. Great job Laura! And thank you again! We can’t thank you enough!!!!”

About: I’ve been taking care of dogs and cats for over six years now. I enjoy what I do. I am a writer but I take time away to spend with animals and nature as much as possible. I love meeting new animals and learning all of their quirks and personalities. I take good pictures for the owners and to document my time with them. I enjoy doing this! Unfortunately my schedule is my own though so I go week to week and don’t typically take on M-F clients every week clients. I work remote with a flexible schedule and I have a lot of free time during the day to do drop in visits and walks. I do not have boarding in my home available at this time. I will adhere to any needs your pet has in your home and ensure they are not stuck in a crate all day.

About: Hi! My name is Emily. I am 18 years old and a huge animal lover! Growing up in a busy household with four siblings, I’m very used to a high-energy environment and know exactly how to stay calm and organized when looking after pets. I love pet sitting because it’s a great way to give dogs and cats the individual attention they need while giving owners peace of mind. Some of my favorite things to do are coaching softball and going to church, so I’m naturally active and love being outdoors for dog walks—but I’m just as happy staying inside to keep a cat company. I currently work part-time, which allows me to easily fit pet care into my weekly routine. I am happy to help with feedings, exercise, litter boxes, and of course, plenty of belly rubs or chin scratches. I’d love to help look after your furry family members! I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule that allows me to prioritize your pets' needs. I am very organized with my weekly planning, so I can easily coordinate feedings, walks, and playtime around my softball coaching and other commitments. I’m happy to work with you to create a consistent routine that ensures your pet feels loved and well-attended while you are away. While I don't have a fenced yard, I am very diligent about keeping dogs securely leashed during all of our outdoor potty breaks and walks. I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of supervised exercise and playtime while staying safe and comfortable in my care.

“Ziair did a fantastic job of checking in on our Bernese Mountain Dog. She was friendly, kept us informed of all the information we needed to know and made us feel good that our dog was well monitored and taken care of while we were away!”

About: Hi I'm Brittany! I love taking care of pets. I have had my own pets, house sat other pets, and even fostered for a local rescue! I grew up with dogs, but I have watched both cats and dogs before. I have experience with small and large breed dogs: Havanese, Pomeranian, Golden Retriever, Pit Bull, Great Dane, and more. I would love to help you take care of your pets through boarding, pet sitting, drop-in visits, and walks! I am excited to meet and take care your fur babies. If your pet has any special care needs let me know. Please contact me to set up any services, meeting you and your pets, or if you have any questions. I work full time during the week. I am usually home on my available weekends. I live with other adults that are more than willing to take your pets for a potty break! I care for pets on a case by case basis according to the owner's care instructions. Pets are always leashed outside and crated as needed based on individual needs.
“Nathaly is caring and dependable. My pets look forward to their time with her playing and being snuggled. I have an elderly dog who requires medication and a special diet and Nathaly carries her down the steps and makes sure her needs are met. She is a loving person and flexible with my crazy schedule and long shifts. 💕”

“Elizabeth was amazing to work with. Incredibly professional, friendly and responsive. I felt so safe leaving her with my cat Shredder, especially given her background in pet care and veterinary medicine. Thank you so much for your grace and understanding during the past 2 weeks, it truly meant a lot to me. 100% would recommend to anyone in the area seeking pet care.”

“Rob has been consistent, communicative and fantastic with our pup, Poe. We have enjoyed working with him and look forward to more visits. We are also planning to utilize him for boarding during an upcoming beach trip.”

“This is the second time we have booked with Jun and we will continue to book with him for as long as he is pet sitting. Our shy, people-adverse kitty warmed up to him immediately and he treats her like she is his own pet. We can’t recommend Jun enough!!”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats, my whole life. I love all kinds of animals and treat them all like they’re my own. Your pet will be loved just like mine. I work very early in the morning at Costco so I will have plenty of time to take care and love your pets while you’re away. I have a very nice fenced in yard lots of room to run. I have a female lab named Harper, who would love a friend to play with while you’re away.
About: I’ve taken care of many pets from family to friends from a young age. My family and friends have trusted me with the care of their very well loved furry ones for years but I think the one who enjoys it most is myself! I’m currently in school so I’m available to care for your pets around my school schedule which typically ends ip being after 3 with unlimited availability on my breaks! I live in a very pet friendly community with very walkable routes. I also love walking myself so getting my steps in with an adorable fur baby is my dream!
About: I’m someone who truly loves animals and takes responsibility seriously. I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I’ll always do my best to earn that trust. I grew up with a total of five dogs and developed a strong understanding of dogs behavior from an early age. I also completed a two-week training course with my childhood German Shepherd, which helped strengthen both my skills and our bond. I continue to regularly care for my sister’s dog and have built lasting, trusting connections with the many dogs in my life. In my adult years, I’ve become an avid cat lover as well. I’ve cared for several outdoor cats, providing consistent feeding, shelter, and coordinating vet care when needed. Most importantly, I rescued my current cat from the outdoors, and he now lives with me indoors, happy, healthy, and thriving. I would care for every cat in the world if I could! I work from home on my own time so I can come by mostly whenever works for your pets, with flexibility to meet your pet’s needs! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always follow their established routines to help pets feel comfortable and secure. For dog walks, I provide safe, attentive walks tailored to each dog’s energy level, age, and needs. I make sure dogs get plenty of exercise, bathroom breaks, and positive interaction. During in-home visits, I can handle feeding, fresh water, litter box or yard clean-up, medication administration if needed, and lots of affection and play. I keep a close eye on behavior and well-being and provide updates and photos so owners feel confident their pets are in good hands.
“This was our first time having someone come to our home to check on our dog. He is 15 years old and we can’t board him anymore. I was very nervous but Sarah made it such a pleasant experience for us and our dog. She gave great information on how and what he was doing. She also took pictures during each visit which really kept us at ease. She took him for walks and applied frequent “spa” treatments with his favorite itchy skin ointment. I’m relieved to know that if we need to go away again, our dog and home will be in good hands! Thank you so very much Sarah!!”

“First time using Rover and was so lucky to find Kali! She is a very sweet cat lover who took wonderful care of my 2 cats, our fish and numerous plants for a long vacation. Excellent communication and we received many updates with photos.”

If more stars were an option, she’d absolutely receive them. Paige was wonderful, punctual and charismatic. She made the time to do a meet and greet to gain the trust of myself and the pets. The photos on each drop in visit were absolutely unexpected. She goes above and beyond! Looking forward to my next trip so that my pets can experience 5 star boarding from the comfort of our home.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Essex with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.
