“Wendy was a great pet sitter! She was professional, communicative, took good pics and updates for each drop in, and I would definitely rebook again in the future. I could enjoy my trip knowing my kitties were in such good hands!”

“This is the first time we’ve really had someone outside the family watching our dogs. Lauren was great from day 1c super responsive, exceptional professionalism and reliability. Our dogs love her. Highly recommend Lauren. She’s someone you can trust.”

“Rebecca was awesome! She sent photos and a little update at each visit as well as made sure our auto kitty litter box and cat feeder were working properly! She was very friendly and professional and we will definitely be repeat customers!”

“Chanel was very sweet and responsive. Always making sure to send updates on how my kitty was doing and kindly helped water my garden plants too. Highly recommend for your pet sitting needs.”

About: I have owned pets for more than 15+ years. My current fur baby’s name is Suki, a medium short hair cat. She is two years old! I’m currently working at two part-time jobs. My free time is mostly in the mornings (unless noted on my calendar), so it’s best to give me a heads up a few days before you need care. Available ALL weekend (unless noted on my calendar). I will attend to animals needs to the best of my ability whether it’s going for a walk, checking if they need food/water and play time!
“My first Drop-in visit with Eva went great! She was perfectly punctual and gave me good info on what happened during the visit. She even spent some time helping train my puppy!”

About: My parents would go out of town quite often for several days each time, and whenever they did, they would have me stay over at their house to take care of their two chihuahuas, Belle and Lilly, who were twelve and thirteen at the time. Belle had frequent seizures followed by difficulty breathing and incontinence and Lilly had an autoimmune disease. I had to give both of them several different kinds of medications and also provide basic care like filling their food and water bowls, giving them treats, letting them in the backyard and taking them for a walk. They would get sad and not eat as much with my parents being gone, so I would make sure to stay over there and keep them company for long stretches of the day. I help my dad walk his chihuahua, Lucy, at least once a week and I help trim her fingernails, as well as give her baths before drying her off. I also help to change the cat litter box since it is heavy. Sometimes we bring Desi the cat with us on the walk in a pet stroller. I care for pets in any manner that the client would like me to care for them in their home. That includes staying with them for long stretches, letting them out, throwing a ball around the yard, taking them on walks, etc.
About: I've grown up with animals ever since I was a kid, they have always held a special place in my heart. From 3 week old puppies to senior dogs, I know how to care for all. Life happens. Whether it is work or personal, it's important to take time away from home, but now all you need to worry about is finding a trusty and reliable person to take care of your fur babies. And that's where I come in! You can count on me to provide the best care for your little creatures. Your animal is my first priority under my care. Of course I'll do all the basics in terms of feeding them, taking them out for walks, and playing with them. As a pet owner myself of a chocolate Pitty-Lab and a cat, I know what it is like to miss your baby while away. I will always provide you with good communication, updates, pictures and just overall relief knowing that your pet is safe and in good hands. I've pet sitted for family and friends for several years, and I love that I am the first one they call when they need someone to watch over their little companions. I work remotely from home for the most part (with some occasional hybrid work). Because of my schedule, I am very flexible. Watching a pet won't be any issue for me as long as I am not expected to be somewhere. I love staying active so going out for walks and being outside is very important in my everyday life. I own two pets myself, so I have relevant experience taking care of dogs and cats on a day to day basis. I understand how important it is to make time out of my day to play with them and care for them. After all, we are these animal's whole universe so they deserve all the time we can give them! I like to let out any dog I watch pretty regularly, especially if they are younger or older I know how important it is to avoid accidents in the house. Your home will look the exact same it did, meaning you don't have to worry about coming home to a mess after being away. I have also watched cats in the past too. I understand how each cat has their own unique personality and based on that I always respect their boundaries and needs. As a cat owner myself, I know how important it is to keep them mentally stimulated while also giving them the space they may need. I also live in a home with an expansive backyard. I have a chocolate pit-Lab mix who is 1 years old and is very friendly and playful with other animals. I have a cat who is very friendly and good with dogs. Communicate with me the best way to care for your animal and I will certainly follow!
About: I have years of experience taking care of my own puppies and family fur babies as well. I’m very attentive and understand how important it is for a pup to also have time to walk/run/play they deserve fun time. I am currently working part time growing my business and also love animals, I have availability Tuesday-Friday to bond and spend time walking your fur babies. I am always aware of pets and attentive when they need extra love or when they need medication or simply go out, I make sure pets are always safe and have fresh water and food. I like to cuddle and have play time when needed with pets.
“Hanna was a great sitter for our two cats. She was extremely responsive, a great communicator, and clearly an animal lover. She even stopped by before we left to meet the cats and familiarize herself with all their needs. I will absolutely reach out to Hanna again for pet care and would recommend her to anyone looking for a great pet sitter!”

“Very attentive and great at what she does. Ellen is truly passionate about taking care of animals and even came a half hour early to check on our doggo! Very sweet and amazing gal and would recommend to anyone needing care.”

“Thank you for taking care of the kitties! You were here on time every time. You put noticeable effort into making friends with my shy cat. Everything was appreciated!”

“Noel was absolutely amazing, she helped me so much with the extra requests I had and stayed till it was all done, very receptive and kind and I’d totally recommend booking with her!”

“Julianne’s been reliable, responsive and an absolute joy. Bowie heard the front door unlock the other day (an entrance we don’t use often) and stopped what he was doing to wait eagerly at the door. Quickly we realized he had started associating the door lock sound with Julianne’s arrival, and it made me so happy that seeing her is something he looks forward to.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Eastlake
Audra-Claire sent lots of great photos and updates during her visits with our cats! She was thorough in getting to know their needs and very consistent and reliable. She went above and beyond during her time caring for our cats to make sure they were well taken care of.

Paulina was amazing! I was out of the country and my husband did not want to have to come home every day to let the pups out. She took so many pics so I could see my fur babies while I was out of town. Super attentive to them and also gave updates on the kitties who usually hide from strangers. Really appreciate her flexibility and communication throughout the week.

I cannot say enough good things about Elisha. She was attentive, communicative, went far above and beyond to make my elderly kitty comfortable. I felt so reassured every step of the way that our pet and home were in incredible hands. If you have a pet that needs a little extra TLC and someone who really cares, look no further. I’d recommend Elisha a thousand times over.

Lauren did wonderful with our pup! He was very nervous about being left alone and her approach to him was very kind and caring. Not only did she make our pup feel comfortable and safe but she also made us feel at ease about leaving him. She truly went above and beyond and we will rebook with her again!

Lisa was a “dream come true” for us. We met with her before our trip & could see how mature, responsible, dedicated, caring & fun she is as a person. Add the fact that she is the definition of “cat whisperer” to her sterling qualities! We were going to be gone for 12 days. We asked her to keep our plants alive by watering them & she did that, too! They are thriving. Most reliable & endearing were the many updates & photos we received of our two boys receiving her loving touch. In summary, if you want a trip away where you can be assured of excellent care of your pets & home & feel totally confident in the caliber of your pet sitter, go with Lisa! Many thanks to her & Rover for a smooth & professional relationship.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
