“This is the second time our dog Charlie has stayed with Tynesha and her family. They take great care of him, give him lots of love, share photos throughout the time we are away. In addition to walks, there is a nice big fenced back yard where he can run. If you have to be away, you really could not ask for more.”

“Jestine was a life safer for accepting my last minute booking! She provided me with updates and pictures throughout the days my dog was there, which gave me a sense of relief since this was my first time leaving my dog with someone who is not family. She also gave me a coupon to try out The Farmers Dog, which I will be using. Jestine was super nice and easy to communicate with. I definitely will be using her services again for the future!”

“Amanda and her family took excellent care of my dog, Coco, while we were gone on a cruise. She did her best to update us on how Coco is doing with the wifi connection issue on the cruise. We’re nervous about long-time boarding as Coco developed separation anxiety after the boarding experience with another sitter. Coco came back happy and not overly attached to us which tells us she had a good time while we’re gone. I appreciate Amanda and her family for the great care and I will definitely work with Amanda again.”

“Django loves being cared for by Tracy and Steve. He is excited and happy when we arrive and he doesn’t look back, letting me know he feels safe and secure, which is really important for a sensitive young dog with a rough rescue in his past. While I hate being away from him, I am confident he is receiving excellent care and enjoying his canine companions, the pictures they send show him having a blast! Highly recommended for both day care and boarding!”

“Jamin did an amazing job watching my 10 year old pitbull for 2 weeks, he was very flexible with me on drop off and pick up times, kept me updated, and went out of his way to care for my dog, book him with confidence, your pup will thank you. 10 stars !!!”

“Here's a shorter version: --- I recently booked Angela for two nights, and I'm thrilled with the care my dog received. Angela provided regular updates with photos and videos, ensuring my peace of mind. My shy dog quickly warmed up to them, and all his dietary and exercise needs were perfectly met. I came home to a happy pup and a tidy house. Highly recommend Angela for reliable and loving pet care.”

“Teresa was absolutely wonderful, we are so grateful that we found her! We actually found her very last minute and she was wonderful, kind, super accommodating, and so wonderful to our dog! Her correspondence was great and we knew our dog was in the best care the whole time we were away! Highly recommend her, she is lovely!”

“Jaina was very responsive when we had a last minute booking for our dog. He was well taken care of and we got daily updates about how he was doing. Brewster is excited to visit again soon!”

“Our dog Luna was very lucky to have stayed with Enrique! We felt confident in Luna’s stay as Enrique provided regular updates with photos which reaffirmed Luna was in good hands. She seemed so happy and relaxed. Very grateful for the quality care.”

“Hsin Yun & Phi were fantastic! They were super responsive and let me check out their place beforehand, which really put my mind at ease. Throughout the trip, they kept sending me updates and photos of my dog, which I really appreciated. When my flight got cancelled because of the government shutdown, they were incredibly flexible and understanding about keeping my dog longer. Honestly, their willingness to help during such a chaotic situation meant so much to me. My dog was clearly happy and well taken care of. Would definitely book with them again!”

“Veronica was fantastic! As an outdoor cat, finding someone who could care for Juno, with safety as the first priority, but also allow her to retain her sense of freedom and independence was always going to be a tough ask. We found that with Veronica - would highly recommend! Very kind, sent us lots of photos and even got Juno some special treats and toys.”

“Shaun and his family were an amazing host! He took very good care of our dog, taking her on daily walks, playing with her and sending frequent updates and pictures. We highly recommend Shaun and will look for him in the future.”

About: I am an animal-loving, high school science teacher, located in Harrison, NJ (previously in Secaucus, Jersey City and Union City). I welcomed my own puppy home in May 2021 and have plenty of experience taking care of my sisters’ three dogs. I live in a spacious townhouse at a pet-friendly complex that has its own dog park. I’m very good with strict schedules & routines and love taking pictures & videos of my furry friends, so their humans won’t have to worry! I am at work from 7:30am to 4pm every Monday to Friday. I can do check-ins outside of these times. I can board and do doggy daycare only on weekends (starting Friday evening) and my days off, as I do not feel comfortable leaving any animal alone while I’m at work. I am a school teacher, so during the summer, I’ll be home for a majority of the day throughout the week! If I have to leave a pet alone, I will use a pet gate, playpen, or crate as needed so no pet gets into any dangerous situation. For check-ins, I will keep your space as clean as possible, so your pet doesn’t get in any icky situations! I will respect your home and always communicate what I’m doing.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - East Orange
Maisha, is the best. We left our pup with her during our wedding and she made sure that our pup was fed and constantly sent update updates to let us know that our pup was okay. Maisha, was very communicative and responsive from the beginning and maintained communication throughout the whole process. We were a little nervous as this was our first experience using Rover however, we will definitely continue to use it in the future and book again with Maisha. Dont be hesitant, shes the best!!

She was very communicative, sent daily pictures and videos, and kept me updated the entire time, which gave me such peace of mind during my vacation. My cat looked like he was having the best time of his 9 lives with her and came home happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for. I will absolutely book with her again in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, caring, and attentive with their pets. Thank you so much, Nima! A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
