Home Away From Home Pet Care

Our Why? We have Huskies, and while still offering our service to other breeds, we highlight that it takes a fellow Husky owner to understand what a Husky needs. Despite their mischievous shenanigans, Houdini escape attempts, endless fur-sheddings, high-pitched vocalizations, bubbly, energized personalities, and hyperactive frolicking, we adore huskies. We understand finding experienced, dependable, loving, and trustworthy caregivers for your Husky isn't easy. That's why we are here to help. We currently have two friendly young huskies (one male and one female- fixed and crate-trained). We also have experience with English bulldogs, Sharpeis, Chow-Chows, Labs, Doodles, and Boxers. We only offer care for dogs based upon the comfortability of the match to our pet-care style and demeanor. We love our pets as we will love yours. We are focused on weekends, holidays, and summer care. We are open to possible weekday arrangements if your dog is crate-trained. Before booking us, a drop-by visit is required to test the compatibility of all humans and dogs. A few things: Special note-while we have never owned a French bulldog, we are particularly interested in learning to care for this breed. Your pet must be spayed or nurtured to receive boarding in our home. Also, we are sorry but we cannot offer care for full or mixed Pit Bull breeds.

Darrin was great taking care of my two boys at my home for a weekend trip I had planned. He provided frequent updates and pictures and was even able to accommodate beyond the originally scheduled trip if needed due to weather travel disruptions. 10/10 would recommend and would happily use him again if ever needed! Thanks again from me and the boys!

Schedule

How does pet care fit into your daily and weekly lives? Our pets receive two meals a day, comprising dry food and water. Our pets are crate-trained and remain crated when owners are away. Most of the time, there is an adult in the house. Our dogs can access a large fenced backyard with green grass and trees. Our dogs walk with owners through nearby Branch Brooke Park and visit the dog park almost daily. Our dogs are crated during adult meal times and sleep in the main bedroom on the floor, side couch, or end of bed at night.

Safety, trust & environment

We maintain a clean home and provide puppy pads during inclement weather to avoid mud and chaos. Pets have access to some rooms, but not all rooms in the house. Toys and treats are provided regularly. Linens on beds where animals may sleep are washed and switched out regularly. Our gate is blocked off on both sides because huskies are known for escaping. Our pets have ID collars and ID dog tags and wear GPS trackers during the day. Our dogs are up-to-date on immunizations and have been spayed/neutered. We don't hit our dogs with our hands or objects but use basic word commands. Training dogs is always a work in progress. They are both loved for their uniqueness. We only plan to care for pets in our home. We have a large and welcoming home.

Pets

A typical day

The pets in our home are important to our family. They hang out with us. Play with us. Go for walks with us. Cuddle next to us. Go to the dog park with us. We are a regular family with a relaxing home filled with love and tolerance. We are both educators, and our youngest daughter lives with us, age 19, who helps to love and care for her pets.

We can help your dog find its greatest happiness in our home if we know what it is accustomed to, such as eating, sleeping, playing, etc. Please prepare a small instruction manual for your dog and bring it with you. Don't forget to inform us about special treats, allergies, or anything we may need to protect your dog from…or anything we may need to do to rest assured that our family will be safe. We will need to have proof of updated immunizations. Your dog must come with a collar and ID tag, which they will wear during their stay at our home. Please pack their food and treats so that they will feel secure and can maintain their healthy diet. Critical health concerns need to be reported so that we can provide the best support possible.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
