“Lorenzo did a wonderful job taking care of my dog, Lacey! He came over for a few hours, took her on a nice walk, played with her, and made sure she was comfortable and happy the entire time. It was clear that Lacey felt at ease with him, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. I’d absolutely recommend Lorenzo to anyone looking for a responsible and caring dog sitter!”

About: I am a just starting at Pace Law and missing my animals deeply. I have made a summer job the past few years dog sitting. I have a wide variety of experience, from caring for three 60lbs+ lap dogs for a week to three cats I would barely see. I love every animal like it is my own (smothered in love) and I make sure to take lots of pictures (I can’t help it!). I am starting my law school journey and I am looking to schedule in some animal time. I am completely free after 4 most days for walks or dinner time and have open weekends. I have lots of experience with animals of many different needs and can easily adapt to instruction. I will be sure to love your baby and provide care above and beyond.

About: Hello there, fellow pet lover. I have over 5 years of experience taking care of dogs and cats from different sizes and breeds. I have watched and love many from multiple newborn puppies to older dogs. I am willing to do last minute walks or visit for your for legged friend. (And obviously play with them and feeding too!). I am more than welcome to feed them too and give them love. I am willing to do multiple check ins though the day. I cant not stay all day, because i have my own 4 legged fluff monster at home, he is a 2 year old German Shepard. Patience and trust is the key to taking care of our best friends the best way possible.

About: I've had dogs for my whole life, and have been called upon to take care of my friends dogs when needed. I am also great to play catch with, so I'll be ready to toss a ball. I am a student, so I have more time in the afternoon than morning, but my schedule is fixed. I am also free early in the mornings, and can do overnights if needed. I think that I work towards keeping the dogs exercised and stimulated, but also being able to draw boundaries. I will fully respect any house rules with the dogs, and will cater towards whatever the owner needs.

About: Hi! I’m Kelly, a lifelong animal lover, professional treat-giver, and former dog mom to my sweet girl, Princess, for 13.5 amazing years. From daily walks to medication routines, I’ve handled it all with love and care. Whether your fur baby needs a snuggle buddy, a midday walk, or someone to keep an eye on them while you’re away, I’ve got you covered! I live in a pet-friendly community with plenty of green space and have my own vehicle, so I’m reliable and flexible when it comes to pick-ups, drop-offs, or emergency needs. I know how important it is to find someone you can truly trust with your pet, and I treat every animal like my own. Let’s connect! I’d love to meet your pup and become their new favorite human! Pet care fits into my routine pretty seamlessly. Honestly, hanging out with animals is one of the best parts of my week! I have a flexible schedule, my own car, and I live in a pet-friendly community with lots of green space, so walks and visits are easy to work into my day. Whether it’s a quick drop-in, a walk around the block, or a weekend stay, I make the time because I truly love being around animals. After 13.5 years with my own dog, it just feels natural to keep giving that kind of love and care to other pets. I live in a pet-friendly community with lots of green space, so walks and visits are easy to work into my day. I'm also more than happy to pet sit in your own home if that's what you prefer.

About: Since I was three, I've always had a dog in my life. Whilst caring for my own pets over the years, I've become the go-to dog sitter for friends and family. They'd rely on me to spend time, walk/let out, and feed their pets. Eventually, I was able to branch out and build a clientele over the past three years. I have experience with senior care as well, where I'd have to administer medication and clean up after them, should they have incontinence issues. Before I got into overnight dog sitting, I was a volunteer at Paws Crossed Animal Rescue in 2017-18 and an intern in 2018. My responsibilities included walking, playing, and spending time with dogs of all different backgrounds. At the moment, I do not work full-time, so I'm essentially available for house sitting/overnight care on weekdays. My weekend schedule can be flexible. I will not be available for boarding. In regard to caring for pets in a client's home, I will follow their instructions and adhere to their usual routine when looking after and tending to their pet(s).

About: My name is Robert and I absolutely love dogs in every way. I have had dogs my whole life and know how to care for different breeds with wide variety of behaviors and needs. Dogs are just as much family as anyone else and deserve to be treated that way. I’m based in beautiful Hartsdale, NY, just steps away from a large park that’s perfect for walks and playtime. I have a fully fenced-in yard, providing a safe and fun space for dogs to roam freely and get plenty of fresh air. I also partner with two other experienced Rover sitters, which means your pet will always have round-the-clock care and attention — 24/7! Pet care fits easily into my daily routine — I have open availability throughout the week, so I’m always ready to provide walks, playtime, feedings, and overnight care as needed.. I live in a house with a nice big fenced in backyard and I also have a very large dog kennel that can be used if needed. Plenty of room to run around.

About: I've been surrounded by animals my entire life and have experience caring for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and horses. Through my involvement in 4-H, where I served as president of my club, I developed strong animal care skills, leadership experience, and a deep appreciation for responsible pet ownership. Growing up, I regularly helped care for family pets and spent time dog walking for neighbors. During high school and college, I provided drop-in visits for pets, helping with feeding, walks, playtime, and companionship. I'm currently a proud dog mom to my hound mix, Choco, which keeps me active and helps me stay in tune with dogs' individual needs and personalities. I understand that every pet is different, and I take the time to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. What sets me apart is my lifelong experience with a variety of animals, my reliability, and my genuine love for pets. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply a calm and reassuring presence, I'll provide attentive care and treat them like part of my own family. Beginning this fall, I'll be a law student, but my schedule still allows me to provide reliable pet care throughout the week. I have excellent availability on weekends and am generally available in the late afternoons and evenings on weekdays. I also expect to have availability for early morning visits before class and occasional drop-in visits between classes, depending on my daily schedule. Because my class schedule varies, I'm happy to communicate and work with pet parents to find times that fit their needs. Whether your pet needs a walk, a drop-in visit, feeding, playtime, or companionship, I'll do my best to provide flexible, dependable care. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe and comfortable in their environment. As the owner of an anxious dog, Choco, I know that every pet has different needs and that changes in routine can sometimes be stressful. I take the time to learn each pet's personality, preferences, and routines so I can provide care that helps them feel secure and at ease. When caring for pets in a client's home, I strive to maintain their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special instructions. I pay close attention to safety by ensuring doors, gates, and leashes are secure and by keeping a watchful eye on pets during walks and outdoor time. My goal is to create a calm, positive experience for every pet by being patient, attentive, and respectful of their boundaries. Whether a pet is energetic and social or shy and anxious, I'll provide compassionate care and treat them as if they were my own.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - East Irvington

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
