About: The Perfect Quiet Getaway for Your Senior Dog Hello! We are Nissa and Brian, a dog-loving couple offering a peaceful retreat exclusively for older, larger dogs. We know that senior dogs need a different kind of care—less chaos, more naps, and a safe, predictable environment to simply relax. Our home is a calm, quiet sanctuary. With no young kids running around the house, your dog will enjoy a genuinely low-stress environment where they can snooze undisturbed. We take exactly one dog at a time, guaranteeing your pet receives our undivided attention and a personalized, quiet stay. We have a secure, fully fenced-in backyard. It’s perfect for gentle, off-leash sniffing and leisurely sunny naps in the grass without the overwhelming energy of dog parks or busy streets. We have hands-on experience providing attentive, reliable care for dogs. We are entirely comfortable managing the unique pacing, comfort needs, and gentle handling that senior dogs require. To maintain our tranquil environment, we exclusively welcome: Senior Dogs: Ages 10 and up. Medium to Giant Breeds: We love the big dogs! Solo Guests: Only one pet per stay for maximum peace and quiet. If you have a gentle giant who just wants a soft spot to land and a quiet yard to explore, we would love to meet them! Pet care seamlessly integrates into our everyday lives, as we are both home throughout the day most of the week. Brian works from home and Nissa is home full-time, meaning your dog will rarely be left alone and will have constant, quiet companionship. Our weekends are similarly low-key and predictable. On Saturday mornings, Nissa heads to the farm for horse riding lessons while Brian heads out for a weekend trail run for a few hours. During this brief window, your dog will have a safe, quiet, and comfortable space to nap before we return for a relaxing afternoon together. Providing a safe, low-stress environment is our absolute top priority. We purposefully host only one dog at a time to ensure your senior pet receives our undivided attention without the unpredictable energy or stress of multiple dogs in the house. Our home is a calm sanctuary specifically tailored for medium to giant older dogs to relax in peace. We have a fully fenced-in backyard that is secure and perfect for gentle, supervised outdoor time. We always monitor outdoor breaks and ensure the indoor temperature and noise levels remain perfectly comfortable for a snoozing senior.
“This was my first time using Rover and I could not be happier! Dawn and her husband were wonderful sitters. My dog, Jax, was obviously comfortable within minutes of walking in the house. Through out his stay Dawn would send pictures so I could see for myself how ‘chilled’ Jax was. I highly recommend Dawn and would definitely leave Jax in her care again.”
“Lacey was an amazing dog sitter! This was our first time leaving our 1year old lab and she handled him with such grace. We received so many updates and videos throughout the weekend. She took such great care of him - he came home as though nothing had changed. Dune was also such a wonderful pup companion. I would rebook again and again!”

“Clark had so much fun staying with Andrew and his family! They have a big fenced in backyard and I got plenty of pictures of Clark playing :) definitely would book again!”

“Lisa and Richard took great care of Roscoe and were easy to deal with. Roscoe enjoyed his stay, got in a lot of playtime, and was well taken care of. Thank you fir being great hosts for Roscoe.”

About: I've been around dogs my entire life — in 28 years, there have only been 7 days I've lived without one! I grew up in a home with five dogs, including four Bernese Mountain Dogs and a Sheltie. My family also responsibly bred Berners and Shelties, and I grew up around training, proper care, and learning to understand each dog's individual personality. Today, my own dog is still a huge part of my life. I also prepare homemade food for my dog and have learned a lot through that experience about paying attention to ingredients, sensitivities, age, energy levels, and individual needs. If your dog has a unique routine, dietary preferences, or special considerations, I'm happy to listen and follow the routine you've established for them. I'm comfortable with dogs of different ages, personalities, routines, and needs, and I believe patience and consistency go a long way. Most importantly, I know how hard it can be to leave your dog with someone else. I treat every dog like they're part of the family — with plenty of attention, patience, playtime, and care while you're away. 🐾 Pets are already a big part of my everyday life. I have always had dogs and currently have three cats of my own, so feeding, walks, playtime, cleaning, and keeping up with their routines are naturally part of my day. I’m also intentional about making time for the pets I care for. I’d rather give a pet my full attention than simply “check a box” and leave. I’m happy to work around their normal routine and give them the consistency they’re used to while their family is away. 🐾 I start by learning your pet’s normal routine — feeding times, walks, medications, favorite activities, boundaries, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable. Then I stick to those instructions as closely as possible. I believe good pet care is about paying attention to the little things. I watch for changes in appetite, energy, behavior, bathroom habits, or anything else that seems unusual, and I’ll communicate with you if I notice something worth knowing about. Most importantly, I want your pet to feel safe and comfortable, not like their routine has suddenly been turned upside down. Whether they want a long walk and lots of playtime or prefer to curl up somewhere quiet, I’ll meet them where they are. 🐶🐱
“Kristi took amazing care of Apollo, and I truly couldn’t have asked for anyone better! She kept me updated throughout the day, which gave me so much peace of mind. I also love that she only cares for small dogs—it made me feel even more comfortable knowing Apollo was in a safe environment with pups his size. Apollo isn’t crate-trained, and Kristi was incredibly understanding about that. She let him hang out with her all day instead of crating him, which meant so much to me. It’s clear she genuinely cares about the dogs she watches and treats them like family. I will definitely be booking with Kristi again for daycare. Apollo had a wonderful time playing with the other fur babies, and I know he’ll be excited to go back. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, trustworthy, and attentive sitter!”

“Our dog loved her stay with Zach. He was very professional and flexible with our unique drop off/pick up needs. Would recommend him to anyone looking for a dog sitter.”

“Julia and Colin were great! They communicated well and even met Toast before boarding! We received a lot of pictures where our dog was smiling and having a good time with them. We will definitely book again!”

“Did a great job watching over our dog and they really go out of their way to understand your pet and what type of care your pet needs. Would definitely leave my dog with them again!”

“Andrew and Taylor were amazing with Ella! They gave us thorough updates, asked great questions, and gave Ella lots of love! We felt confident and at ease knowing Ella was in great hands. We would definitely re-book again!”

“Sonja took great care of my baby. She sent photos and messages to let me know how he was doing. Her communication was excellent and she was very easy to work with.”

“Tracy is great! Good communication and pics throughout the stay. Juniper seemed to enjoy his time with his new dog friends. Super convenient, reasonable price and easy to book. I appreciate having my dog as a part of a family vs. a pet daycare or corporate pet boarding. My dog appreciates the kind of attention that he gets with Tracy. Definitely recommend!”

“Linda was amazing! She was able to accommodate my dog very last minute, which I truly appreciated. She was very kind and made sure my dog was comfortable and well cared for throughout her stay. She took her on multiple walks each day and kept me updated, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. This was my first time leaving my dog with someone I didn’t know, and Linda made the experience so much easier than I expected. I could tell that she genuinely cared about making sure my dog was happy and comfortable. I’m very grateful for the care she provided and would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for someone dependable and caring to watch their dog!”

“We were originally filled with anxiety for the need to find a new sitter. We have two dogs, one is old and frail. Wendy was fantastic, put our minds at ease, even as the anxiety creeped back up now and then. She was patient and gentle with our old man and tolerated our other Velcro poodle, as she likes to be underfoot all the time. Communication was great and timely, the home warm and welcoming, the yard inviting for our little pooches. I highly recommend her!”

“Took super great care of Sadie! Great communication and appreciated Shannon’s flexibility to our pickup time. We scheduled a specific time based on when return flight was supposed to arrive. Shannon gave us peace of mind that if s/thing went awry with return flight, we could let her know and push pickup time out. Meet & greet was greatly appreciated!”

“I absolutely love Courtney! She was so attentive to my dog and provided me daily updates. I knew my dog would be in good hands after the first time meeting her. I will definitely have Courtney watch her again.”

“Gabriel treated our dog like his own. He took him out for many walks per day and my dog loved playing with his cute little one! He was super communicative and sent us updates every day. We won't hesitate to book with Gabriel again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Cudahy
We've used Katrina for a day sit, but just had our first overnight. We received updates and photos and the reassurance we needed our girl was doing well and feeling comfortable. With a big trip coming up, we are very relieved to have found such a great fit for us. Highly recommend!

Joe and Ramiro took amazing care of our German Shepherd and Husky for a couple of days. They kept us updated with pictures and how they were doing throughout their stay. When we picked them up, they were calm and happy. I would definitely book them again and recommend them to others.

Mary’s care is 11/10. She cared for our Berry as if she were her own. From our meet and greet to the day we dropped our puppy off, we had no doubt that she was going to be spoiled during her time with Mary. Berry got to go on so many adventures with Mary and she was so thoughtful to send us photos of every moment. We will be booking with Mary in the future!

Erin was AMAZING! She and her pups hosted us for a meet and greet a few days before the 3-night stay and she really put my (and CC’s) minds at ease about having CC stay with a new person. Erin sent so many wonderful photos, videos, updates over the stay. She basically gave CC a vacation that I know she’s looking forward to already for the next one. Will definitely be booking with Erin again.

So kind and accommodating. It was great that she had a dog as it helped mine feel at ease. Sara asked for a meet & greet to make sure we were on the same page. Thank you for taking him to the dog park, his favorite place to be. Will definitely ask to rebook with her if needed on my next visit. Thank you Sara!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in WI ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
