Calm Care for Your Senior Dog

The Perfect Quiet Getaway for Your Senior Dog Hello! We are Nissa and Brian, a dog-loving couple offering a peaceful retreat exclusively for older, larger dogs. We know that senior dogs need a different kind of care—less chaos, more naps, and a safe, predictable environment to simply relax. Our home is a calm, quiet sanctuary. With no young kids running around the house, your dog will enjoy a genuinely low-stress environment where they can snooze undisturbed. We take exactly one dog at a time, guaranteeing your pet receives our undivided attention and a personalized, quiet stay. We have a secure, fully fenced-in backyard. It’s perfect for gentle, off-leash sniffing and leisurely sunny naps in the grass without the overwhelming energy of dog parks or busy streets. We have hands-on experience providing attentive, reliable care for dogs. We are entirely comfortable managing the unique pacing, comfort needs, and gentle handling that senior dogs require. To maintain our tranquil environment, we exclusively welcome: Senior Dogs: Ages 10 and up. Medium to Giant Breeds: We love the big dogs! Solo Guests: Only one pet per stay for maximum peace and quiet. If you have a gentle giant who just wants a soft spot to land and a quiet yard to explore, we would love to meet them!

We were nervous about leaving our Schnauzer, Levi, for the first time, but Brian was very easy going, and put my mind at ease! Levi had a wonderful time, and Brian sent me several photos showing how much fun he was having while we were gone. He loved playing with their two dogs and seemed so happy and excited when we picked him up. They have a very cozy, dog friendly house, and a great yard. I'll definitely be calling Brian the next time we need a dogsitter, so glad we decided to try out dog vacay instead of a kennel!

Schedule

Pet care seamlessly integrates into our everyday lives, as we are both home throughout the day most of the week. Brian works from home and Nissa is home full-time, meaning your dog will rarely be left alone and will have constant, quiet companionship. Our weekends are similarly low-key and predictable. On Saturday mornings, Nissa heads to the farm for horse riding lessons while Brian heads out for a weekend trail run for a few hours. During this brief window, your dog will have a safe, quiet, and comfortable space to nap before we return for a relaxing afternoon together.

Safety, trust & environment

Providing a safe, low-stress environment is our absolute top priority. We purposefully host only one dog at a time to ensure your senior pet receives our undivided attention without the unpredictable energy or stress of multiple dogs in the house. Our home is a calm sanctuary specifically tailored for medium to giant older dogs to relax in peace. We have a fully fenced-in backyard that is secure and perfect for gentle, supervised outdoor time. We always monitor outdoor breaks and ensure the indoor temperature and noise levels remain perfectly comfortable for a snoozing senior.

A typical day

A typical day in our home is wonderfully slow-paced and completely catered to a senior dog's individual needs. Mornings start with a gentle stroll around our fully fenced-in backyard to stretch their legs, do some sniffing, and get some fresh air. Throughout the workday, your gentle giant can snooze right next to my desk or find a comfortable sunbeam on the floor. Afternoons include more leisurely backyard sessions, plenty of affectionate pets, and uninterrupted nap times. We focus entirely on low-impact engagement, ensuring they remain happy and comfortable without ever being overworked. We are both very active individuals and will be more than happy to facilitate any additional exercise.

Because we specialize in caring for senior dogs, we want to know all the details about your pet's current health, mobility, and daily routines. Please let us know if they require any specific medications, have dietary restrictions, or need physical accommodations, such as a ramp or help getting up from a resting position. We also appreciate knowing about any quirks or triggers—whether they are sensitive to certain noises, have vision or hearing impairments, or simply have a favorite type of orthopedic bed they prefer for their afternoon naps.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
