“As newcomers to the area, we were nervous about leaving our dogs with someone we didn’t know. Ashley put our minds at ease by sending regular updates and photos so we knew they were in great hands. When a few severe thunderstorms stressed one of our dogs, she reached out right away, asked all the right questions about how we normally would handle it and made sure our pup was as comfortable as possible. We appreciated her thoughtful communication and care she gave our dogs!”

“My husband and I felt very comfortable with Madison and so did our 3 dogs. Madison is very sweet and has a good connection with animals. We will definitely use her again.”

“Jill did a great job with our little princesses as they can be a little “needy”. She arrived when she said she would and provided the ideal level of communication with pictures during her stay. Even left the house cleaner than when she arrived.”
“Isabella did a great job taking care of my two dogs and my home while we were on vacation for a week. My dogs were happy when we got home. Isabella made sure the house looked great too! I would recommend her without hesitation!”

“Jayla did an absolutely amazing job. my fussy frenchie warmed up to her immediately, which was the most important thing!! in addition, the house is cleaner than when I left it!! amazing 👏 🤩 🙀. Already booked another stay.”

“April was great with your dogs!! She was very communicative and always kept me updated so I could have some peace of mind while I was out of town for work. I will definitely hire her again!”

“This was the first time we ha Elizabeth watch our pup. Although it was only an overnight stay, our pup seems happy, all directions were followed, and she left the house with everything neat and clean. I would definitely give her a 👍thumbs up!”

“Eric and Julia did an amazing job with our rambunctious pups while we were bringing our baby girl home from the hospital. We get really anxious leaving our dogs but ended up having nothing to worry about! Not to mention, they were able to stay a last minute extra night when we had an extended stay at the hospital. Thank you so much guys!”

“Beyond perfect! Our dogs love Laura and she takes care of them and our house like her own. She Truly makes our trips completely comforting- without a worry ever. Thank you again!”

“Danielle is kind and reliable- she was absolutely wonderful with Ares! She followed all of his care instructions carefully, including keeping his activity level low while he recovered, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing he was in such caring hands. She kept me updated throughout the day with messages and photos. It was clear Ares had a good day while still getting the extra care and rest he needed.”

“We feel like we scored the Rover jackpot with Jessica! Our dog, Piper, was in the best hands while we were gone making it easy to enjoy our vacation. Jess was on time, followed instructions, kept us updated, and gave our dog all the love and attention. Definitely will book her again!”

“Kelli and Torrie were amazing pet sitters in my home! Beyond their sweet and adorable personalities, they took outstanding care of our fur babies! Mariana was absolutely amazing taking care of my two dogs during my 12-day vacation! She handled their daily medications, strict feeding routines, and regular walks with absolute care and professionalism. I received wonderful daily updates and photos that gave me total peace of mind while away. My dogs were happy, relaxed, and well-cared for when I got home. I couldn't have asked for a better sitter and will definitely book with her again!

This was our first extended trip in several years and Alyssa answered the call when we reached out to her. Coco and Sallie love Alyssa and she did not disappoint once again. The daily updates with videos was very nice to see how our girls were doing. Sallie, our "Senior" maltipoo has some health issues as she is getting up there in age that require daily medications & Alyssa did a tremendous job!! Sallie and Coco absolutely love Alyssa. Alyssa and Landon are the best in the business and highly recommended for your pets needs! Thank you Alyssa for taking tremendous care of our two "girls"

As always, when I leave Pretty Kitty in Sami’s care I have complete peace of mind while I’m away. Sami sends me pictures and tells me of the funny antics they experience together. Sami also is very respectful of my house and tends to the kitty’s daily routines, including giving meds as prescribed. I highly recommend Sami as a very professional, compassionate pet sitter.

Sarah stayed with my dog for 11 days in my home. She is a lovely person and a wonderful caretaker!. My dog was happy and serene when I got home and my house was immaculate. I hope Sarah is available the next time I go away - in fact, I may plan my travel around her availability!

Crystal was an absolutely wonderful housesitter and dogsitter! She took great care of our senior dog and our home, and was also great about communicating and providing updates (and we loved that she sent plenty of cute photos and videos too). We highly recommend her!

Mary is fantastic! It’s the 2nd time we book her to sit our dogs and we’ve had a wonderful experience both times. She’s proactive and if she thinks there’s anything she can do to better handle our dogs, she will ask questions and make it happen. She loves our babies and we love her!

Andrew is phenomenal and I’ll happily be requesting his service again soon :) he completed an in home stay with my pup and I know they took great care of him. He was incredibly flexible with my scheduled as well as Milo’s. Happy to have met Andrew and had great vibes on out meet and greet too!

We could not be more happy with having Nicole house/dog sit. From the moment we met to her leaving the house we had no worries about our pups being in good hands. Our pups are older (12.5 & 15.5 yrs old) and though they are for the most part very chill, they do require a lot of attention. Our little girl has three different medications she is on daily, and have to be given at specific times of day. She is also incontinent and has to be let out to pee every 2-3 hours to avoid accidents. They food is Farmer's Dog and the list could go on of important things that need to be tended to daily. Nicole had no problem at all with any of this. We were able to have a nice vacation away on the beach without a worry. Nicole sent updates with photos and even asked questions to make sure she understood my notes accurately. This was her first time staying with them and the house was spotless when we got back, with a youtube channel on our tv playing beautiful music. The dogs were very happy and I am pretty sure they miss her already!! Highly recommend Nicole (Eunice) !! Hope to have her back soon!! Very grateful-- thank you so much Nicole!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Cheval on Rover is $54.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 4,212 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Cheval. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Cheval walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Cheval maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Cheval choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Cheval. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
