“Heather was amazing. She was able to care for our difficult older cat like a pro. Our cat required two medications twice a day, including an injection, and our cat doesn't do well with stranger but she did great with Heather. Heather let us know everytime when she completed the shot which really put our minds at ease. We ended up book her again for two more trips these coming months.”

“Just arrived home after long vacation and cats are happy and doing well. Bex took care of them and kept us updated when we sent texts asking how things were going. Her replies were prompt. We are used to getting daily photo updates from past sitters so even though that didn’t happen, we knew cats were in good care. I would recommend Bex for your pets.”

About: Hi! My name is Alexa, and I absolutely love animals! I have grown up around pets and currently have a cat and a German Shepherd of my own. I also previously had an English Mastiff, so I’m very comfortable caring for large dogs and understand the extra patience and attention they can sometimes need. I have experience dog walking for many different families, doing drop-in visits for both dogs and cats, and house sitting for dogs, cats, and even chickens! I love getting to know each pet’s individual personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. While I haven’t personally cared for every type of animal, I am responsible, trustworthy, and very willing to carefully follow any instructions you provide. I’m always happy to learn about your pet’s specific routine, needs, and preferences. I recently graduated high school with a 4.67 GPA and will be attending Washington University in St. Louis next year. I’m dependable, organized, and take my responsibilities seriously, but most importantly, I genuinely love animals and would treat your pets as if they were my own. I work a daily job from noon until the evening, so I’m most available in the mornings. I’m able to provide plenty of attention, walks, playtime, and care before noon, especially if your pet is sensitive to heat and only takes morning walks! I may not be able to personally stay with a pet 24/7 every day, but I can accommodate pets who are comfortable being alone for part of the day. For boarding, I also have family members in my home who can be with your pet while I’m at work, so your pet will have someone around and will not be left alone for the entire day. I’m happy to discuss your pet’s specific schedule and needs beforehand to make sure I can provide the right level of care. Your pet’s safety and comfort are extremely important to me. I have experience caring for dogs and cats and understand how important it is to follow each pet’s individual routine, instructions, and boundaries. I have a large, securely fenced backyard where dogs can safely get outside, play, and get some energy out. I also have an older German Shepherd and a cat, so I’m very familiar with having multiple pets in the home and making sure everyone is comfortable. I’m responsible, attentive, and trustworthy, and I will always follow your instructions carefully. I’m also happy to provide regular updates and photos so you know how your pet is doing while you’re away.

I prioritize safety, consistency, and a calm environment when caring for pets, whether in my home or a client’s home. I follow each pet’s routine closely, including feeding schedules, walk times, and any specific instructions you provide.

About: I took care of my pet cat for 15 years and have helped look after cats in my neighborhood since I was a little kid. I hope to one day have a kitty of my own again but in the meantime I promise to give your pets the quality care they deserve! I currently work part-time and go to college locally, so I have four days a week when I'm free to spend as much time with your pets as they need! I can definitely be flexible with scheduling, just send me the details :) I can put out food and water and clean litter boxes as well as basic grooming such as gentle brushing etc. If your cat has any specific dietary needs I can make sure those are accommodated as I take that seriously due to personal experience.
About: I love dogs and dogs love me. Live with many dogs and took care and house trained them. I love to go on walks,!and house sit these log bugs. It brings me joy to support and be in service to families. I Owned a cat for 16 years and then as an adult I have cat sit before. Cats often take time and adjustment to a new energy. So I allow the cat to come to me. I am an online energy healer/life coach and so I work daily on a computer and can be flexible with routine. I would consult and agree to the time needed daily or weekly with the pet care I like to ask for a printed out routine or schedule. Emergency contacts and possible things to do around the house so when the owner comes home they can relax and have everything still flowing in the house.
“Ulysses took care of my kitties for several days. When I got home they were calm and fed. I could tell that they had been well cared for. Everything looked great and he even took out the trash for pickup. I will use his services again.”

About: I have never personally owned a cat, but i loved watching my friends cats when it was needed or my neighbors cats! I feel as though me and cats have a special bond, because you can’t force a cat to love you which is why i am patient and accepting of the animal rather than trying to be obsessive and upsetting the cat. With that being said when i was cat sitting, i would typically try to make them stay active by playing with them or taking them on walks. I also had to give the cats medicine by putting an ointment in their ear or smashing it up in their food. I am a college student, with a very flexible schedule unavailable on mondays and wednesdays but free after 1 pm on tuesday’s and thursdays and friday’s and weekends are completely free! Obviously keeping an eye on the dog is very important, but also remembering to take them outside to use the bathroom frequently. To keep them active i would take them on nice walks outside or i would play with them with their toys that they have already.

About: Hello! My name is Sofia and I grew up in San Jose with a loving sheltie. I’ve had a grey fluffy cat since I was 10 and the dog in the photos is my hyper sheltie mix, Charlie. I adore all pets and all animals in general. I am very active with animal preservation and have donated to WWF for almost 10 years. I am very social and being around animals makes me very happy. I work part time until 2:20 every day so I am open many afternoons/evenings and on weekends! Pls reach out asap for more info on my availability. My cat and dog do not necessarily coexist so I have to make sure I take precaution when it is time to feed them, put them outside or if they want to roam the house at the same time. I make sure to always pick up after myself and to not leave candles, trash or food or anything else that may be unsafe to the animal unattended.

About: I have taken care of animals since I was a kid. I have taken care of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, bearded dragons. My family, friends and neighbors have trusted me to care for their pets for several years now and I always treat them as if they are my own. I am currently working during the day as a delivery driver so my schedule is flexible. I mostly work during the times from 11am-2pm, 5pm-9pm, 11:30pm-2am. I would have plenty of time to play, walk and sit with your animals during the week/weekend and I am able to stay with your fur babies while you go out of town. I live at a house with two other cats and my dog Charley. I am available and willing to sit with your fur babies at your home and I am well equipped with using kennels and crates if that is required.
“Yifei did a great job caring for my two adult cats! She sent regular pictures and was very flexible and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend her and work with her again!”

“Zhengjun took excellent care of our cats! Our feline babies were well fed and played with, and we got a lot of pictures and videos from Zhengjun. We would love to have Zhengjun take care of our cats again!”

About: I have taken care of a large variety of pets, including cats, dogs, reptiles, fish, and rodents. They have ranged from newborn to elderly, and I have experience with pets with behavioral and medical concerns. I have worked in a professional capacity as a dog groomer and in a boarding facility, and trained my own puppy, Maisie! I've been petsitting since I was young, starting with neighbors and family, and animal care remains one of my greatest passions. I'm excited to meet your beautiful pets! At this time, I'm not offering overnight services, because my own puppy is too young to be left alone at night. Throughout the day I am available to dedicate my energy to making sure your pet is happy and having all of their needs met ♥️ As a pet owner myself, I know how nerve-wracking it can be to be away from your pets. For that reason, I make sure that I know exactly the routine and requirements you're looking for in a sitter, and I keep regular communication with you — both to ensure your expectations are met and to share updates and cute photos of your furbabies whenever requested. I know how central my pets' well-being is to my life, and the safety and happiness of your beloved companions are no less important to me.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
