About: I have cared for dogs, cats, fish, and other animals all my life! I rescue animals when I can, have fostered, bottle fed, treated injuries, given injections and medications to many animals. Animals are my comfort zone- just being around them is my joy! I can do short walks, herding dog games, feed, or provide overnight care. About: I've had dogs my whole life, and I truly believe that they are a part of the family. I grew up hiking, training, and playing with my own dogs, as well as pet-sitting for my friends and family in high school. My two childhood dogs were both big and high-energy, so I have experience with dealing with intense personalities-from hyper puppies to senior dogs with health issues. I am also used to walking and taking care of two dogs at once, so if you have more than one pet, I am prepared. Most of all, I love seeing dogs happy, whether that be through taking them on walks or giving them love and attention. I am a UCSB student, but I am home for the summer (until I go back to school in mid-September), so I will have plenty of time to care for your fur-babies! I am available anytime of day, all days of the week. I am extremely responsible and detail-oriented, and I will do whatever I can to make sure your pets are safe and happy. I will send frequent updates and pictures as I understand the anxiousness that can come from being separated from your pet. I also have experience with taking care of dogs that need to take frequent medication or have other ailments, as my first dog (an Akita mix) was seizure prone and arthritic but, with much love and care, lived to be 16. She recently passed, so I am eager to love your dogs as if they were my own.

“Nora is a GIFT! About a year ago my now 14 year-old cat Riley abruptly lost a significant amount of weight and bloodwork showed some kind of significant liver event though nothing was evident in an XRAY or ultrasound. He was prescribed two ongoing medications to support his liver & reduce inflammation; a small pill that needs to absorb during a fast (no food for 2 hours before and 1 hour after) and a liquid medication that needs to be given with food. In addition to the with/without food medications complexity, successfully pilling a cat every day requires a deft hand—pretty straightforward for someone who’s good at it, increasingly difficult each day for anyone who isn’t. Add to the equation both Riley and his brother Ash are initially shy with strangers. All things considered to me the situation seemed like a complicated ask for a pet sitter, so over the past year I hadn’t gone away on any trips longer than 2-3 days. In the face of a terminal illness diagnosis in my direct family I came to terms with having to hope for the best using a pet sitter for an 8 day family vacation though I was very concerned about how Riley would be affected by the extended change in routine. Enter Nora; highly intelligent, highly *attuned* (to the pets & the people), instantly trustworthy, and very gracious, a rare combination of total professionalism & grounded compassion. Though Nora was only here for about an hour each day her presence *visibly improved* Riley’s health. I didn’t know it was possible to come home from being away for 8 days to find Riley noticeably fluffier and more energetic than when I left, but that’s the magic that unfolded under Nora’s care. She also sent me pictures of Riley and Ash every day and let me know how they were each doing, sharing her sophisticated curiosity & creativity getting Riley to eat more and Ash to gradually come out of his shyness with clear warmth towards both of them. It’s extremely clear Nora *truly cares* and is keenly observant and exceptionally competent, a combination that made it possible for me to relax so much more on my trip. About: Ive been a dog owner for +15 years and have been working with family in a private doggy day care business, but looking to spread out and have access to more people in need of pet care. Let your dog be the judge of me because dogs love me as much as I love them. Im a pretty flexible person, so if there are any special needs or requests I should be able to do whatever is necessary for your dog. I'm also a very clean person, so you can expect to receive your home back in a better condition than when I arrived. I look forward to meeting you and your furry friend!
