Jordyn was amazing with my pitbull Leah! She really cared about her routine and well being. My dog has a lot of separation anxiety so when I left she didn’t eat much. Jordyn kept me informed and even went out of her way to cook her some chicken and rice to help her to start eating again and help stomach issues. Leah is also very strong and can pull hard at times and she had no issues walking her. I have been so scared to leave my dog with someone for this long (6 nights). So I feel so happy I found Jordyn so I can vacation without being nervous about Leah. I recommend 100%!

Luis did a great job looking after our two dogs. He was responsive and clear with communication, and was sensitive in meeting the needs of our dogs. We would happily use his services again.

About: Hello, I go by V. I am currently looking for a full time job and am walking dogs in the interim. My schedule is a bit full at the moment, so I cannot take on new clients that need services daily. An animal’s wellbeing is my highest priority when they are in my care. I take them out every couple hours if they are antsy and am happy to play, cuddle, and give them my attention. Ultimately, I just love to see tails wagging :) Right now, I am doing pet care full time. Weekday afternoons are all booked up, but I have some available time slots in the mornings and evenings. Weekends I have most of the day open. Please message me with any questions. While my dog Frosty is very gentle with humans, he is not friendly towards other dogs, so I am unable to host animals in my own home. I can take out your pets for frequent walks or keep them entertained inside, whichever you prefer. My only caveat is that I am asthmatic so I have trouble keeping up with a dog that requires a lot of running or walks around a hilly neighborhood.

This is the second time Dani has taken care of Vinny. She kept me up-to-date while I was away on how he was doing each day and sent me plenty of pictures and videos. She kept my house spotless and when I came home everything was exactly where I left it. You can definitely trust her in your home and with your fur baby.

About: I've had dogs all my life, the most recently i had a awesome miniature poodle who I was fortunate to love and care for 17 years, so I am familiar with the needs of senior dogs. My schedule is fairly open every day after about 9 or ten am. I'd like a regular opportunity, but one offs will be good as well I am available for pet sitting at the clients home, but due to younger kids I can accommodate pets at my home. Walking and feeding and playing is ideal

I was very hesitant to have a sitter stay at my house . We took a chance on Gabby and couldn’t be happier . She sent us updates on our boy throughout the stay , showed up on time , distributed his meds properly , and followed all our directions for our boy. On top of that she left our house in the same condition it was given to her and took all our mail and deliveries in. Our Zee came back to us happy and as healthy as we left him. I’d definetly recommend Gabby and we hope to use her again.

About: I've been the go-to catsitter among my family and friends since elementary school ! I've worked with indoor cats, outdoor cats, spicy cats, and kittens. I can adjust to your cat's every need ! Though I've mainly cared for cats, I also have experience with more exotic pets like fish, geckos, and tarantulas. I have a 30gal fish tank of my own ! I don't have another job at the moment, so I am available at any time. I will update days of unavailability as soon as possible. I'm very patient so if your pet isn't very trusting of new people, that's okay ! On the flipside, if your pet wants a friend then I can stick around !

About: I have 7+ years experience with my moody fur baby. and have been actively sitting for my friend's dogs and cats. Its just me and my baby at home so your special one will get ample amount of love and attention. I am available at home 24hrs on Monday & Tuesday. (And occasionally on weekends) For any other days i am available only after 8PM . My own baby is very moody and requires a lot of attention .But i have trained her well. Pets have full freedom in my house and i allow them on my furnitures too. There have been times where my baby only ate when i fed her from my hand. Its the same feeling i get when I feed babies. That sense of motherly love is what I like to give to all fur babies too.

Gabriel watched our (3) dogs and cat while we went out of town for 4 days with our son. He took them out to the dog park, for walks, and for runs. We know our dogs absolutely loved it, It’s great when you can leave when not worry about your fur babies well being. We got photos and videos which we enjoyed seeing. He took great care of our house as well! We will definitely be hiring Gabriel again!

About: I’ve spent the last 6 years caring for dogs and cats for families in my neighborhood, including puppies, high‑energy dogs, and seniors who need a gentler pace. I regularly do dog walking, drop‑in visits, and house sitting, and I follow each pet’s routine closely—feeding, medications, walks, and playtime. I treat every animal like my own, send lots of photo updates, and make sure they feel safe, loved, and relaxed while their people are away. I’m a college student, so my availability is best during school breaks and holidays. When I’m home in New Jersey, I’m generally free on both weekdays and weekends, and I’m happy to work around your travel plans. I keep my calendar up to date and respond quickly so we can find times that fit your schedule. When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I stick closely to the routines you already have in place—feeding schedule, walk times, and house rules. I always double‑check doors, gates, and leashes, and I watch for any changes in behavior or appetite that might signal a problem. I’m respectful of your home, keep things tidy, and send clear updates and photos so you always know how your pets are doing.

Alissa was fabulous! I was hesitant leaving my 8 month old puppy with anyone for a week since he is just a little guy, but Alissa made me feel so comfortable from the second I met her and watched her interact with my dog! She stayed at my house for a week, sent me daily updates, and even sent me multiple pictures a day! She was phenomenal and if I could give her more than 5 stars I would! She even gave me tips on what worked and what didn’t since my dog is a picky eater! I definitely recommend and will be using her again!! I not only trust her with my little love, but I trust her in my home!

About: As a true dog lover, I understand that dogs need love, patience, and attention—especially when their owners are away. I know accidents and little messes can happen, and I approach them with patience and understanding. I truly empathize with how stressful separation can feel for pets, which is why I focus on making them feel safe, comforted, and cared for. I also understand how important peace of mind is for owners, and I’ll care for your pet as if they were my own. I’m currently a full-time master’s student with a flexible schedule, allowing me availability for dog walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting throughout the week. I currently provide care in my client’s home and always try to follow your pet’s normal routine to help them feel comfortable and safe. I understand dogs need love, attention, patience, and reassurance—especially when their owners are away. Whether it’s walks, feeding, playtime, or companionship, I’ll care for your pet with kindness and patience while giving you peace of mind.

Grace watched our senior pup for a week. He is very boring to watch - he just likes to sleep and hang out (no walks or play - too old for that nonsense anymore lol) Jett is very particular who he likes and he was lying next to Grace by the end of the week! WOW! We are so happy with Grace - always kept us updated on our little guy and was reliable and took care of Jett perfectly! Highly recommend, Grace to watch your babies!

About: I make an effort to be calm when I am with and around animals in order for them to know they are safe when they’re with me. I am home from college for the summer! I have a lot of free time. Mornings, afternoons, and nights I have available and every day of the week. I’d love to walk your pet around your neighborhood. Cleanliness and organization are important to me, so I would make sure to maintain those areas of your space for your pet!

Katie was the absolute best. She went above and beyond for her stay with my high energy pup, taking him on three 2+ mile walks over the course of her stay. We couldn’t be more grateful to Quinn for the incredible care she gave our older dog while we were away. From the start, she was kind, attentive, and truly caring — it was clear she treated our dog like her own. Quinn took the time to understand her needs and routine, and her thoughtful updates gave us so much peace of mind while we were gone. Our dog is older and Quinn handled everything with such patience and love. We came home to a happy, relaxed dog — a true testament to the wonderful care Riley received. Highly recommend Quinn to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate sitter!

FAQs for House Sitting - Chatham

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Chatham on Rover is $88.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 18,320 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Chatham. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Chatham walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Chatham maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Chatham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Chatham. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
