Hadija did a fantastic job watching Layla overnight. She made sure all instructions were followed and sent lots of pictures. There was great communication and Layla was very well cared for. House was clean, you would not know anyone was even in the house! We would definitely use her again and even potentially for longer stays!

About: Hello, I go by V. I am currently looking for a full time job and am walking dogs in the interim. My schedule is a bit full at the moment, so I cannot take on new clients that need services daily. An animal’s wellbeing is my highest priority when they are in my care. I take them out every couple hours if they are antsy and am happy to play, cuddle, and give them my attention. Ultimately, I just love to see tails wagging :) Right now, I am doing pet care full time. Weekday afternoons are all booked up, but I have some available time slots in the mornings and evenings. Weekends I have most of the day open. Please message me with any questions. While my dog Frosty is very gentle with humans, he is not friendly towards other dogs, so I am unable to host animals in my own home. I can take out your pets for frequent walks or keep them entertained inside, whichever you prefer. My only caveat is that I am asthmatic so I have trouble keeping up with a dog that requires a lot of running or walks around a hilly neighborhood.

About: Hi I’m Angelica, i’ve owned so many dogs throughout my life from tiny dogs to big dogs, I currently have two of my own dogs and walk them every day as is, I would love to go on walks with other dogs as well and get some exorcise in with your dogs as well! I adore all sorts of animals! I’m a high school senior, so I get out of school anywhere from 12-1 which is early, so anytime after that I can come walk dogs or take care of cats or whatever is needed of me to do. I do not allow animals in my house but I can come to your house and walk your dog or check on the cat whenever is needed.

Hi. My name is Diane. My son got married 10/21/23 and I needed a sitter for my dog in the hotel, the Sheraton, near the park savoy. I was concerned about leaving Sami in the room by herself because she is 16 years old, can’t walk without assistance and can’t hear. I found Daniela , and she saved me. I was so upset and concerned but when I met her and she met Sami I was so happy. She is great and knows her stuff! I want thank her for all her help with Sami. I would highly recommend her and use her again if I am ever up in that area again.

We had such a great experience with Kayla. Our dog struggles with separation anxiety, but Kayla did such a great job to calm his nerves. She was very patient with him and went out of her way to do a meet and greet prior to the appointment. He had such a good time! Highly recommend.

About: I've been the go-to catsitter among my family and friends since elementary school ! I've worked with indoor cats, outdoor cats, spicy cats, and kittens. I can adjust to your cat's every need ! Though I've mainly cared for cats, I also have experience with more exotic pets like fish, geckos, and tarantulas. I have a 30gal fish tank of my own ! I don't have another job at the moment, so I am available at any time. I will update days of unavailability as soon as possible. I'm very patient so if your pet isn't very trusting of new people, that's okay ! On the flipside, if your pet wants a friend then I can stick around !

About: I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for dogs, cats, horses and more through pet sitting, dog walking, and volunteering as an Animal Therapy Assistant. I’ve worked with a variety of pets, maintained regular communication with owners, and always make sure animals are safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I’m dependable, organized, and patient, and I genuinely enjoy spending time with animals. My experience as a nanny, camp coach, and small business owner has strengthened my responsibility, communication, and ability to handle different situations with confidence. I’ll care for your pet with the same attention and love I would give my own. I’m a college student home for the summer, which gives me a flexible schedule for pet care. I occasionally babysit and pet sit, but I have plenty of availability for drop-in visits, dog walking, and overnight care. I also care for my own dog, Lola, every day, so I’m used to maintaining a consistent routine and making sure pets get the attention, exercise, and affection they need. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I understand that every pet has their own routine, personality, and needs, so I’ll follow your instructions carefully to help them feel secure while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home or stopping by for visits, I’ll provide plenty of attention, playtime, fresh water, meals, and updates so you can have peace of mind. I treat every pet with the same love and care that I give my own dog, Lola.

About: I have 7+ years experience with my moody fur baby. and have been actively sitting for my friend's dogs and cats. Its just me and my baby at home so your special one will get ample amount of love and attention. I am available at home 24hrs on Monday & Tuesday. (And occasionally on weekends) For any other days i am available only after 8PM . My own baby is very moody and requires a lot of attention .But i have trained her well. Pets have full freedom in my house and i allow them on my furnitures too. There have been times where my baby only ate when i fed her from my hand. Its the same feeling i get when I feed babies. About: I have had 2 small dogs for about 14 years now that I have loved and cared for since they were puppies. I volunteered at a local animal shelter in the cattery and kitten nursery where I cleaned cages, fed, and comforted the cats and kittens. I have also fostered 3 kittens until they found their forever homes. I have been taking care of many friends and families pets over the past few years and would love to help others as well now! I have a very flexible full time work from home career that I can do from anywhere so I can stay home with your pets and care for them throughout the day. I am open to doing whatever is needed or requested. I can be accommodating to make sure clients are happy and pets are well cared for.

I can’t say enough good things. Maria sent me pictures daily and kept me updated around the clock, ❤️❤️❤️ One big special request I have is that I have a Himalayan Persian cat and I needed his eyes cleaned every morning and she did beyond a wonderful job. I’ve never seen him cleaner. When I got home the cats always pur because they miss me but this time not even one single purr, that’s tells me they loved Maria’s company so much, they didn’t even miss me!! ❤️❤️❤️

About: Hi! I’m an animal lover who genuinely enjoys spending time with dogs of all sizes and personalities. While I’m newer to professional dog walking and pet sitting, I’ve spent time helping walk friends’ dogs, playing with them, and assisting with their care when needed. Those experiences have shown me how rewarding it is to make sure dogs get the exercise, attention, and care they deserve. I’m dependable, patient, and attentive to detail. I understand that every dog has a unique personality and routine, and I’m committed to following your instructions carefully so your pet feels safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away. Whether your dog enjoys long walks, playing fetch, exploring the neighborhood, or simply getting extra attention and affection, I’ll make sure they receive plenty of care and engagement. I’ll also provide regular updates and photos so you can feel confident and at ease while your pet is with me. I know how important it is to trust someone with a member of your family, and I would love the opportunity to earn that trust. I look forward to meeting you and your furry best friend! Dog walking fits easily into my weekly routine. I have flexible availability during the early mornings, evenings, and some mid-day hours depending on the day, which allows me to consistently take on walks. I’ve helped walk dogs for friends and enjoy being active, so I’m comfortable building this into my schedule regularly. I make sure to plan ahead and keep commitments organized so each dog gets reliable, attentive care and a consistent walking routine. I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any specific instructions provided by the owner. My goal is to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed while you’re away. For dog walking, I focus on giving each dog a safe and enjoyable walk based on their energy level and personality—whether that’s a relaxed stroll or a more active walk with plenty of time to sniff and explore. When I’m in a client’s home, I’m respectful of the space, keep things clean, and make sure pets are safe and happy at all times. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel at ease knowing their pet is well cared for.

Our dog can be slow to warm up to new people and is often a bit withdrawn when we leave her with sitters, but she took to Jodi right away. We only had Jodi for a short weekend. She took Piper for 2 walks, despite the brewing nor'easter, and Piper had fun with her.

Emma took care of our two newfies for 6 days and nights. She was very attentive and gave us photo updates every day. We could see how comfortable they were with her. Walking 230lbs of canines combined is no easy feat and she managed them beautifully. We will definitely use Emma’s services in the future. We highly recommend her.

FAQs for House Sitting - Long Hill

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Long Hill on Rover is $96.3 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 18,091 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Long Hill. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Long Hill walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Long Hill maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Long Hill choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Long Hill. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
