“Samantha watched our 3 kitties while we were away. She was extremely professional in dealing with us, and super fun with the cats. She spent time playing with them, even trying to coax the shy one out to play/pet. We got tons of great pics every day with great communication. We would definitely recommend her and will hire her again the next time we leave town!”

“Rover to the rescue when our dog sitter couldn't watch our crazy dogs for our trip. Brian was reliable and loving to our rescue dogs. We have 3 dogs with unique personalities and quirks, and he had no problem navigating that! Great communication, lots of pictures. We recommend Brian!”

“We’ve booked Vivian several times to take care of our husky! Everytime we come home, he’s such a happy boy. We get so many photos and updates, which is so comforting that he’s being cared for. She’s the best ❤️❤️❤️”

“Annika is so wonderful! I could not have asked for better care for my girl. I’m so thankful for her help and I know Wink was happy to see her everyday!”

About: I trained my German Shepherd, Dakota, and taught him all 25 of the tricks that he knows! I have trained and lived with that 80lb pup with behavioral issues, so I am confident even with the biggest, craziest dogs! I have a soft spot for big dogs because of Dakota, but I also grew up with 3 Chihuahua mixes and a Border Collie which cemented my love for dogs of all sizes and temperaments! During the school year, I have college classes Monday through Thursday every week, but they are spread out if I needed to let any dogs out or take them for brisk walks in between! On the weekends, I don’t ever have a strict schedule. In the summer, my availability varies moreso by week! I let the animals warm up to me first before petting, picking up, or feeding, as to keep them as comfortable as possible. I love playing with cats and dogs indoors or outdoors. I have lived in Wheaton for my entire life, so I know the Wheaton area and all of its surrounding towns very well so I can take pets on longer or shorter walks as need be!
About: For me, being around animals isn't just a job, it’s second nature. I’ve spent over 15 years caring for pups of all shapes and sizes, I know how much your dog means to you because I’m a lifelong animal lover myself. Whether it’s a long afternoon trek or a quick backyard play session, I’m dedicated to treating your furry family members with the same love and patience I give my own. I am available for evening walks after 5:00 PM throughout the school week, with full availability on weekends. My schedule also mirrors the school calendar, meaning I offer extended, full-day care during Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter breaks—giving you a dependable option when you travel for the holidays. My home is fully equipped for a relaxing stay, featuring a secure, fenced-in yard for safe outdoor time and a variety of premium dog beds for lounging. As a proud owner of a geriatric dog myself, I am deeply experienced in providing extra assistance and 'tender loving care' for seniors or dogs with mobility needs. I also have a dedicated playpen area for pups who prefer their own cozy, private space
“Paula was great with our 2 pups. She did a meet and greet beforehand which was so nice! She was fantastic with them and brought over games to help engage them during her visits. The picture and notes after each visit were detailed and made us feel better about leaving our pups home knowing they were well taken care of.”

About: I’ve grown up with German Shepards my whole life and have experience with training and walking them. I also have 7 years experience with in home pet/house sitting dogs of all sizes, from Jack Russel Terriers to Saint Bernard's. I find that keeping the pet in their own home helps with the stress of their owners being away. I have no problem administering medication as I’ve done that before. Every dog I take care of immediately becomes family! I am currently an online college student that works part time so I have plenty of time to take care of your pups! Walking dogs keeps me active and overall spending time with fur babies keeps my spirits high! I have no issues following any type of schedule your fur babies are on! Rain or shine I always stand outside with the pups whenever I let them out to go potty. I take weather/heat advisories into account before we go on walks and I always bring water for the doggies on walks. Whether they’re a bedtime cuddler or crate trained, I am flexible and will make sure to fit your fur babies needs.
“Grace was AMAZING and is so knowledgeable about dogs and their unique needs. She was so patient and knew exactly how to get our dog with bad anxiety more comfortable. We really appreciate her help and the updates during the drop- in visit.”

About: I've been a full time veterinary assistant for 5 years now. I've loved animals since I was a child. I pet sit friends and family pets. I work really close to my apartment. I am able to take care of your pet before and after work. I can stop by my apartment on my lunch break and take care of your pet, if needed. I do not work on weekends. My apartment has a dog park, but I do like going on long walks. Play time is essential. Giving treats as a reward for training.
About: I am a high-energy individual who loves all types of dogs! Rover is my first "official" platform, but I have been pet-sitting and caring for dogs since I was young. As I got older, I gained more responsibility and more training with the family dog. I have had a lot of experience with adopted dogs, young and old, and promise to provide the best care while you are away. My parent's current dog that I care for often also has given me experience with regular medication/monitoring health concerns while also providing superior care. If your dog loves to play outside, go for a run, soak in the sun and play tug of war (but also sneak a nap in too), I am your pet-sitter! I am currently a fitness coach that works non-normal hours, so I can spend time with your furry baby during the day! I can also stay long hours overnight if needed to keep your pet relaxed while you are away. Depending on the day, your pet could be alone for 4-8 hours a day with me. I will care for the pet's health concerns (including medication), make sure they have ample time outside (weather dependent) for potty time and exercise, and will care for their physical health if requested (ie brush coat or give bath). I will ask about how they interact with other dogs, people, animals so I can protect your pet and keep them safe.
“We were so thankful to Kristen for scheduling a drop-in visit on very short notice. She checked in with us and sent great photos letting us know our doggies were well cared for. We will definitely reach out to Kristen in the future for pet sitting needs.”

About: I've taken care of pets ever since I was a kid. When I was in high school, my family hosted dogs of all sizes, including one of my favorites, a Burnese Mountain Dog named Ruby. Lately I've had the chance to watch my brother's two dogs (as seen in my bio pics) when he travels. I work a semi-active full time job over the week, with plenty of energy to spare when I'm not working. I am fully available over the weekends from Friday evening straight through to Sunday! I also am free on weekdays for walks or drop-ins as long as it's before 7:30 am or after 5 pm. Your dog will stay in a cozy, smoke-free condo where they are welcome on the furniture and bed. While I don't have a yard, I love taking long, frequent walks around the neighborhood. For their comfort and safety, I host one family at a time and ask that owners provide the dog's preferred bed or crate if possible
About: For 5 years, I’ve cared for pets in my community walking, feeding, bathing, and giving them consistent love and attention. I’m reliable, gentle, and make sure each pet feels safe and comfortable. Pet care easily fits into my weekly routine because I’m very consistent with my schedule. I make time every day for walks, feeding, and check-ins, and I love being active, so spending time with pets naturally fits into my day. In a client’s home, I stick to the pet’s normal schedule feeding, walking, bathroom breaks, and playtime. I take extra care to keep the home clean, give lots of love, and make sure the pet feels safe and comfortable. I also send regular pictures and updates.
About: I’ve done 30+ volunteer hours working with animals, so I take animal care seriously. * I’ve spent time volunteering with animals, including cats and dogs, and I’m comfortable around all of them. * Over 30 volunteer hours means I’ve learned how to safely and patiently work with different types of animals. * I have experience with animal care and understand that each pet has its own personality and needs. * My volunteer work has helped me get better at handling and caring for cats and dogs with patience and respect. It’s currently summer, so I’m free basically every day and have a very flexible schedule. I’m able to provide care throughout the week and adjust as needed. On Saturdays and Sundays, I work part time as a pizza worker for about 4 hours, but I can still be available before or after my shifts depending on the timing. The rest of the week I have full availability for pet care and walks. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always follow their routine as closely as possible so the pet feels comfortable and safe. I make sure they are fed on time, have fresh water, get plenty of attention, and are walked or played with depending on their needs. I pay close attention to their behavior so I can notice if anything seems off. I also make sure the home stays clean and everything is left how I found it. Most importantly, I treat every pet with patience, care, and respect as if they were my own.
About: I had experience taking care of dogs as a kid. I have been entrusted with checking in on, feeding, loving and caring for dogs of friends, neighbors, and family. I am confident in my ability to handle reactive or anxious dogs. I can read a dogs language (stress, aggression, excitement). I can maintain safety such as making sure the dog is leashed in a busy environment. I keep aware of hazards such as heat, and other dogs. I pay attention to detail such as changes in dog behavior, appetite or energy, signs of illness or injury, and owner preferences for routes and pace. I am patient and adaptable. Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I plan my schedule around the pets in my care. I make time for feeding, walks, playtime, bathroom breaks, and regular check-ins throughout the day to ensure pets stay comfortable and on their normal routine. I’m also mindful of providing attention, exercise, and a calm environment so they feel safe and cared for. On a weekly basis, I keep my schedule organized to accommodate bookings, communicate with pet owners, and maintain a clean, pet-friendly space. Kate was amazing taking care of our kitty and made fast friends with him. She is very reliable and responsible in all aspects of cat care. She sent us lot of great pictures and let us know how he was doing each day. We were happy our kitty was in a such good hands. We will definitely be using Kate again. :-)

Grace is kind, calm, reliable, and communicative. She took the time to play with our cat during every visit, took care of the litter boxes and feedings, and handled some other household things while we were away for the week. Cinnamon quickly came out of her shell and administered many a biscuit and cuddle :D

Rosa was so wonderful with our dog. She walked him, played with him and made sure he was well fed, happy and safe. She communicated with us during or after each visit and even sent pictures of him having fun which gave us great peace of mind knowing he was being well cared for while we were away. I highly recommend her!

I am so grateful that Kristen was able to care for my cat Sylvester last minute. She took great care of him and he looked very happy and comfortable with her in the pictures. Kirsten has great communication and I felt comfortable and safe having her in my home. I recommend her and would book with her again!

Edgar and his kids did such a great job taking care of my cat Jake that even though he’s so shy with people he started to feel comfortable and safe with them within a few days. He always had plenty of food and water and Edgar was communicative and sent pictures everyday and text messages everyday. I highly recommend him and his kids. Thank you for taking care of my baby so well!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
