“This was our first time using an in-home dog sitter after losing our previous dog unexpectedly at a boarding facility, so we were understandably very hesitant. From the moment we met Vickie, she immediately put us at ease and gave us the confidence to leave our new pup at home while we were away. Vickie went above and beyond by visiting a few times before our trip to help our pup feel comfortable with her in our home. While we were gone, she kept us updated with daily photos, which meant so much to us, and she even took the time to water our garden. We came home to a happy, healthy pup and a house in perfect condition. We’re so grateful for the care and attention Vickie provided and would absolutely love to work with her again. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter.”

“I’m so happy we had Maria to take care of our Cane Corso. She stay in communication with me and kept me updated with pictures of “our baby”. She made me feel very comfortable having her in our home. I highly recommend Maria, we will be booking with her again.”

“Marissa did an amazing job! We adopted a puppy w/ severe trauma background who is afraid of everyone, who’d never been left alone w/ anyone before. He’s never let anyone near him before. Marisa’s patience and skill w dogs with a traumatic past enabled her to break through his fears and by the end of the day my sweet dog was cuddling with her! It was truly amazing. I highly recommend Marissa.”

“It is special to be able to leave Flint and have him taken care of so well. Thank you for the special gift and treats. Flint loves the treats and is playing with the ball not! Thank yoi”

“Lili took great care of our two dogs and our home. She is very attentive to the dogs and they love to spend time with her. Leaving our pets when we travel is always so tough, but knowing they are being cared for by Lili has lifted a lot of worry off our mind. Thank you again, Lili!”

“Cindy was great! She is very kind & professional. She stayed at my home with my animals for a week. My animals loved her! They were very well taken care of and happy throughout her stay. I will absolutely hire her again the next time I need pet care!”

About: Hi! Im Priscilla and I have been caring, sitting, walking, and loving on fur babies from dogs, puppies, and kittens, to horses, sheep, and chickens! I’ve previously held jobs caring for a variety of animals for months and have developed strong responsibility and communication skills! Please let me know if there’s anything I can do for your fur baby! I am a sophomore in college and a cheerleader at Cal State Northridge. Although I have practices coming up and go regularly to the gym, my schedule is incredibly flexible! In a clients home I can easily replicate your pets normal schedule and normal routine if you like. Any special tasks even for older pets I can get done with no trouble. You know your pet best so whatever you know will make them comfortable while you are away, works for me!
“I’ve never left my dog for this long and Bella made me feel completely at ease. Sending pictures taking my Nellie on walks and giving her lots of love and a ton of play. Thank you”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and other pets ever since I was 12. I’ve also had experience with puppies and elderly dogs. Family and friends always rely on me to take care of their dogs while on vacation and I’d say I do a pretty good job! I am currently home for college and would love to pet sit for anyone in need of a sitter. Anytime works for me. I’d be happy to help! I usually like to give dogs a walk if they’re up for it. I give them food and make sure they’re well fed. I also give them baths on occasion!
“Air was so great!! Bubba can be aggressive, depending on how you approach him, and he immediately ran up to her and gave her a kiss 🥹 He won’t do a lot of things while I’m gone, but she got him to go outside, potty, fetch, and eat cheese - things he wouldn’t even do for my family off the bat. I appreciated the updates throughout the day, as well as the pictures. This was my first time using Rover, and I’m so glad that I chose Air to watch Bubba while I was visiting for a wedding 🩷 I would ABSOLUTELY rebook if I lived there!!”

“Myself and my pup felt very comfortable with Jocelyn! She seems to have a lot of experience with dogs which I liked. She was also great at communicating and sent pics throughout her stay to update me. I will definitely be rebooking with her.”

“Laura was very professional and was completly comfortable with my pets right away. She kept me updated and asked/answered questions as needed. She even took the time to clean up after my dog with incontinence issues. And, lastly she added a sweet touch by putting out a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a note of appreciation. It was hard to leave my vacation, but coming home was great. I would recommend her.”

“Anthony was the best! He was incredibly communicative and responsive both before the stay and during. He took great care of our pups and sent photo updates regularly. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better. Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a sitter!”

“Sandra is wonderful! She's like having one of the family stay and watch your pets. She took great care of our zoo and we wouldn't hesitate to have her stay again when we go out of town for long or short trips. We actually think our pets are sad we are home and enjoyed having Sandra with them more than us!”

“Cielo did a wonderful job! We will certainly use her again as our regular. She offered a meet and greet, which we thought was great and she even sent us pics of the dogs! 10/10 recommend!”

“We hired Jasmine to house/pet sit while we were out of town. She took excellent care of our dogs and cat. She is very reliable and attentive, providing consistent communication with photos and video updates. She even went above and beyond by sweeping our floors! Our dogs are very high energy and Jasmine provided them with more than enough playtime. She clearly loves animals! Our dogs were well cared for and happy they got to have her very cute dogs as playmates! I feel she is someone we can trust with our animals and we already hired her for our next vacation. Thank you so much, Jasmine!!”

“I hired Kaylee to sit at my home with my Belgian Malinois with separation anxiety. I appreciate her quick responses thru the Rover App, and her willingness to arrive for an early morning appointment. We will definitely call Kaylee again in the near future.”

“Kirsten is a godsend! She handled my 2 needy dogs and 4 cats without any problem! I felt totally relaxed knowing my babies were well taken care of ! I highly recommend her 😊”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Canyon Lake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Canyon Lake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Canyon Lake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
