Cindy was a lifesaver during my stressful workweek. She took care of Panda and made sure she felt loved and comfortable. She kept me updated throughout the day and knew I’d be off later and was flexible with my schedule - absolutely fantastic! I had regular updates with Panda being spoiled with love by her girls. I’ll definitely use her again when I need a sitter. Thanks a million!

About: As a dedicated dog parent myself, my unique strengths include senior dog care, dog walking and providing a calm home environment along with custom routines. Pet care is already a core part of my daily rhythm. As a dog parent myself, I start and end most days with walks, so caring for a dog fits naturally into my schedule rather than competing with it. Since I'm currently a homemaker, I have flexible, consistent availability throughout the week — including mornings, midday, and afternoons — which means I can offer reliable, on-time walks rather than squeezing them in around a 9-to-2. I'm looking to build dog walking into a regular part of my week: it keeps me active, gets me outdoors, and lets me connect with neighbors and other pet parents in the community. Because I understand the responsibility of caring for a dog firsthand — from reading their energy level to knowing when they need a slower pace or extra water breaks — I bring the same attentiveness to dogs in my care that I'd want for my own. For dog walking, I focus on safety, routine, and attentiveness. When I arrive at a client's home, I take time to greet the dog calmly and let them warm up to me before heading out, especially on a first visit. During the walk, I keep dogs on a secure leash, follow the pace and route that suits their energy level and age, and stay alert to their body language, other animals, traffic, and weather conditions. I always bring water for longer walks, clean up after the dog every time, and make sure collars, harnesses, and gates are securely fastened before and after each visit. Once the walk is done, I make sure the dog has fresh water available, lock up the home securely, and send the owner a quick update — including photos when I can — so they know their pet is happy and cared for. Because I'm a dog owner myself, I treat every dog in my care the way I'd want someone to treat mine: with patience, close attention, and respect for their individual personality and needs.

About: I had a brother who loved to bring animals home which I had to take care of. Now I have two daughters who love to take care of dogs , cats and other animals. I’m working part time at home so I have more time to play with your pets when I’m on break. I love to play with and to care for animals I have a home with a fence so they can pace around my yard freely without escaping. I don’t have many harsh rules for animals in my house so they can move anywhere they want any time .

I will definitely be going back! Bandit LOVED being with them. I knew they’d be good sitters when they walked out and the kids and Shawna had researched my dogs breed (Frisian Stabij) that was an immediate sigh of relief and it only went up from there. They were communicative, sent pictures, and so trustworthy. Would recommend !!

About: I have experience caring for dogs including my own senior Shih Tzu for 14 years. I currently offer daily walks, drop-in visits, overnight boarding, and in-home pet sitting. I’m comfortable with feeding routines, potty breaks, playtime, and giving dogs the attention and calm presence they need while their owners are away. I also make sure pets stay on their usual schedule as much as possible so they feel safe and settled. Whether it’s a quick visit during the day, a walk to get energy out, or staying overnight, I focus on being reliable, patient, and attentive to each dog’s personality and needs. About my schedule: Pet care fits naturally into my daily and weekly routine because I am available full-time. My flexible schedule allows me to provide dependable, consistent and attentive care while ensuring each pet feels safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout their time with me. She was incredibly patient and caring with my puppy. Since he hasn’t completed all of his vaccinations yet, she was able to accommodate him by only watching one dog at a time, which gave me great peace of mind. She regularly sent me photos and updates, so I always knew how he was doing. She also helped with his potty training and was very attentive to his needs. I could tell she genuinely cared about him and treated him like her own. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, thoughtful, and responsible dog sitter! I will definitely rebook her if needed in the future! Thanks Yan!

Tatiana walked my dog three times while staying at her house and gave her good exercises. She let my dog playing at the park and hanging out with her ground children. I’m sure that my dog had a good time. She also took good care of her by checking her food, trying to feed her until she got enough. She is a good walker and caregiver as well. I’m happy and comfortable to leave my dog with her.

Jing was a lifesaver, available to watch our three year old English Cocker while we visited our grandchildren. She was waiting for us when we pulled up to her home and seamlessly watched him til we returned about 3 hours later. She sent fun pictures while taking care of him and Murphy seemed very happy when we picked him up. I definitely recommend Jing and will book her again!

Aubrey's such an amazing sitter! My shy dog who struggles with separation anxiety loves going to daycare with Aubrey. She literally runs out of the car and doesn't even look back. The peace of mind means the world as does the fact that she comes home exhausted from all the fun!

About: Hello! My name is Allie. I’m a lifelong dog lover, owner, and trainer. I come from Washington state where I was raised with dogs of all kinds. For the last few years, I professionally trained and also trained law-enforcement canines. I actively compete with my dog in a sport called Schutzhund. I am extremely confident with all kinds of dogs- from tiny ones, to the giant breeds! If you have a sport dog that you need handled by an experienced working dog handler, I can absolutely help you out. I am an extremely competent and safe handler and look forward to helping you out with your pups! Right now, I am a stay at home dog mom who is always training and working my dog. I have a highly flexible schedule and would love to help you out! I have an awesome yard that your dogs are welcomed to play in on a long line. I also have a very sweet intact male dog who is a friend to all, if your dog likes others! I have crates available if your dog needs one. I exercise and train my dog daily, so your dog’s needs can easily be tended to. I have plenty of experience with working dogs, so I understand the implications of handling them (detection, apprehension, sport). Your pup will be extremely safe and well cared for!

Our pup’s first day staying with Dyan and her family. He sure seemed to have a good time. Dyan sent several pics and videos of Kitsu on a walk and playing with her kids. It was a “get to know each other” day. He’s going to stay with them again next week while we’re away. Dyan is great with communication and following whatever requests we had for Kitsu.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Brookshire

5.0 out of 5 stars

Jing’s place was nice and clean. The front yard had several safety gates available so it reassured me my puppy wouldn’t run off into the street as young dogs can get excited. It was our puppy’s first time going to doggy daycare so I also didn’t know what to expect. We provided our dog food, which he didn’t eat because he doesn’t typically eat during the time we booked but wanted to make sure he had a backup in case needed. My puppy is house trained so I asked if he had any accidents, Jing stared he didn’t. He also had some time outside in the fenced backyard to sniff and play.

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Brookshire commute.

If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.

A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.

Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:

  • For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
  • For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
  • For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, Rover is well-suited for finding sitters who can care for your pet within 24 hours. With 5,764 sitters in Brookshire, 87% respond to messages in under an hour.

You can message multiple sitters simultaneously to find the fastest available match. If you need care today or tomorrow, you can look for sitters with a "calendar last updated" notice on their profiles.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
