We are new to NC and finding a housesitter was a concern as we have a very nervous dog that needs slow introductions and a calm yet confident demeanor in a new friend. He has a best friend now! And my husband and I have peace of mind. Angel is a God Send. She did an amazing job and even handled a difficult situation with our ducks. We can’t recommend her enough. Thank Angel!!

About: I have been fostering dogs for 15 years now, and have 5 years of pet sitting experience. I have worked with high and low energy dogs, as well as dogs with disabilities such as seizures and diabetes. I love all animals and am committed to making your pets time away from you as comfortable as possible! Last Minute Fee (<24hrs): $10 I currently work part-time, but only during the evenings, so I am available for a majority of the day to care for pet needs. I am a somewhat early riser and also know of the unnecessary stress put on an animal when their daily routines are disrupted, so I am adaptable when it comes to dogs with stricter schedules. I am only providing drop-in services as I have two dogs of my own. I am comfortable walking dogs of all sizes and with issues of pulling and leash aggression. I work to maintain a clean environment for the animal as well as keeping them entertained and healthy.

About: I have had pets in my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve taken care of dogs, cats, fish, lizards, and even tarantulas! I work a typical 9-5 and can be available before going into work, after work and before bedtime. I have the ability to work from home some days when needed. I will pay attention to the details you leave for me and communicate very clearly throughout the process. I think routine is important to animals and I intend to respect that.

About: I’ve walked and boarded dogs for friends and neighbors for years and have done extensive volunteer work with animals-it’s something I’m truly passionate about. I’ve always considered myself an animal advocate and take pride in making sure every pet feels safe, loved, and cared for. Whether it’s an energetic puppy or a senior dog who needs a gentler pace, I tailor each walk to their needs. I’m attentive, patient, and always focused on their well-being. Working part-time from home gives me the flexibility to plan my day around your pet’s needs. I can easily adjust my schedule for walks, playtime, and care. When caring for pets in my home, I follow their regular routine to keep them comfortable and relaxed. I make sure they’re fed on schedule, have plenty of fresh water, and get the right amount of exercise and attention. I take time for play, walks, and companionship, always keeping their safety my top priority. I treat every pet with the same respect and care I would want for my own. My home is pet-friendly with plenty of space to play, nap, and explore.

Anaiah did amazing with our girls! Our cat needs medication multiple times a day, and she administered them as requested. Our picky pup likes having the tv on when she’s alone, and she provided that as well as all her other little side needs. Anaiah didn’t hesitate to ask questions about them/their needs which I appreciate a ton! To me that shows she cared about our girls and paid attention to details we forgot to mention. We got pictures and updates throughout us being gone! If she’ll have our girls again, we’d love to rebook in the future!

About: Cared for dogs, cats, and various farm animals for many years in a variety of contexts. 31 years old Born and raised in Wilkes county, Appstate grad, traveled the world working on farms, taking care of children, and playing/caring for animals all the while Since I'm a teacher, I am very free during the summer, weekends, and during all the other breaks in the school schedule. During the summer (till mid August) I will be spending large amounts of time either in your home or taking care of pets as the larger portion of my day and night. During the school year, I will be able to provide intensive attention after normal work hours, and rich weekend experiences for your pets. My availability during the different holiday breaks like Spring and Christmas break are much like the summer. I will be sure to respect and follow any instructions given to a tee and deliver prompt communication throughout the entire process. About: I grew up beside a high energy husky pup who was my very best friend and the one who taught me what it means to love animals deeply. My mom modeled what it looks like to truly care for your pets as family, always prioritizing their exercise, comfort, and happiness. Now I have two pups of my own, and I finally understand what it means to devote your every day to their care. It can be stressful at times, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. Raising pets really does take a community, and I’m so grateful for the one I’ve built here in Boone. Because of it, my pups are always supported, able to socialize, and infinitely loved. I want to make sure you and your pets have that opportunity too. I work part-time at Watauga Opportunities and recently graduated from Appalachian State! I’m always looking for extra ways to move my body, so dog sitting and walking gigs are truly a luxury for me: a chance to do something I love while helping others care for their pets. I'm available most weekends and am happy to work around your needs! I have a fenced in yard for playtime at my home, either solo or with other dogs. I like to keep a consistent routine for the animals I care for, so I’ll do my best to match their usual schedule and make them feel right at home. As for dog walking, it's important that your pup gets the adequate amount of exercise for their breed- so of course I will try to match that as well.

About: I have experience taking care of both cats and dogs. I have had my own cat for 6 years and took in my family senior dog for two years before she passed. I volunteered for ~80 hours at an Orange County Animal Services as a dog walker. I also received additional training at the shelter to walk and handle more aggressive and shy dogs. I am starting App State’s graduate Speech-Language Pathology program mid-August. I am currently finishing up some summer classes, but have a lot of availability for the rest of the summer! :) I care for pets on an individual basis. When volunteering at an animal shelter, I learned a lot about an animal’s body language and used that to gauge a pet’s comfortability. I love taking care of pets that like affection, but I am able to recognize which pets are open to that.

Maranda house sat for me, caring for my two cats, while I was out of town for a few days. My girls warmed right up to Maranda, even my young cat who has been known to hide from sitters for a long time. Maranda even sent me videos of my young cat being silly and demanding pets. My home appears well cared for and I returned to happy, healthy cats!

FAQs for House Sitting - Boone

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Boone on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 150 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Boone. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Boone walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Boone maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Boone choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Boone. On Rover:

  • 83% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
