“Lani did a great job taking care of our high-energy dog. She responded quickly, sent photos, and went the extra mile to make sure our pup was happy and well cared for. We would definitely call on her again in the future.”

“Samantha did a great job watching our stubborn English Bulldog. She’s reliable and gave us peace of mind while we were gone for 8 days. Our pup has some behavioral quirks but Samantha was patient and did not have any issues caring for her. We came back to a calm and relaxed pup. Our home was also left clean. Thank you Samantha!”

“Olivia has stayed with our two dogs and one cat in our home twice now, and has been wonderful each time. She's responsive, attentive to the boys' needs and routines, and leaves our house in a lovely state to come home to! We would definitely recommend her!”

“I’m so thankful for finding Hailey! This was my very first time leaving Luna ,my dog, and my home under someone else’s care and I couldn’t have chosen better! Luna was extremely comfortable with Hailey, as soon as she walked through the door Luna liked her. Her schedule was followed without issues and she even took her on long walks. Luna didn’t miss a single meal and I could tell she was happy and calm in every picture. She even put her hoodie on during colder days. My home was in good hands as well. It was so clean and tidy it didn’t even look like someone was staying there! Being our first time doing this, me and my husband were very nervous but Hailey sent us updates and pictures as often as she could and that allowed us to enjoy our trip. As dog owners, we look for someone who would treat your dog as their own and that’s exactly what Hailey did! I can confidently say I will keep coming to back to her every time I need my home or my dog taken care of! Thank you Hailey!”

“Dan & Kat took care of our babies for a week and it went awesome! In the past, one of our boys has had anxiety when we've left and had accidents. Not so this time! Our two dogs and cat loved Dan & Kat and we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. From the meet and greet to being flexible on our dogs' schedules and daily updates, everything was absolutely perfect.”

About: I’ve watched my sister’s 2 dogs quite a bit who are high energy 45 and 75 pound dogs. My roommate and I also dog sat an old lab for 5 months. I have cared for a few other dogs for shorter times, including puppies as well. I also have some experience watching and taking care of cats. I am recent college graduate currently figuring things out so most of my schedule is free currently. I am available to pet sit any day of the week and available for most times of the day. I always ensure the environment is safe for pets by making sure there is this nothing that could be dangerous for them or anything they might damage or knock over. I believe it is important to keep pets active so I will play with them and take them on walks frequently.
“Ashley was so great! We had her come out twice to see our two different places for our animals and she came out and met all the animals before we had her stay with our three babies for the night. She was very attentive and replies quickly. She also sends tons of pictures while we were away! Can’t wait to continue using her in the future.”

About: I've got multiple years of experience handling a highly anxious dog that can be dog selective during high stress situations. I was the one primarily training my family's two dogs, as well as the one taking them out on as many walks as I was able. I have multiple years worth of experience with senior dogs that had arthritis and who needed to have their food prepped especially for easier eating. I'm currently a student at the University of Georgia and currently looking into part time summer positions, however my schedule is very flexible with daily check-ins and overnight stays during both the week and weekend are very doable. During check-ins, outside of ensuring food and water are available, I would make sure to spend time playing and hanging out with any dog and if I have time to take them on a walk I will. For overnights, I would do the same thing with the only difference being the amount of time I'd be able to spend with the dog.

“Chris took great care of our two dogs and our house while we were away for about a week. He took the time to get to know our dogs and even got them a special treat! We would be happy to book with him again.”

“Sophia is wonderful! She instantly connected with my senior dog and took special favor to her needs. Sophia didn't even flinch with med requirements and was an overall champion for the experience. Look no further when booking.”

“Sydney does such a great job for us! The pets all love her, even our skittish kitty. She also leaves the house looking better than she left it and is so pleasant to work with! She'll definitely take great care of anyone's home and pets. :)”

About: I grew up on a farm taking care of dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens, and bunnies my whole life. I feel very comfortable around all types of animals and know very well on how to take care of them properly. I’m a student at UGA now and working towards graduating this May. My homework has slowed down a lot and I am looking for ways to make extra cash with my free time. I will take care of your pets safely in your home—cleaning up after their messes, taking them out at appropriate times, and playing with them.
“Hanna was excellent at keeping us updated throughout her stay. She was patient and willing to listen to all the quirks about our dog and always kept us in the loop about how they were doing. I have two very different dogs and she did so well with them! She was absolutely fantastic and I would highly recommend her to others!”

About: My experience includes fostering my little sister's cat for almost three years and dog sitting for over five years. My main strength involves caring for your pets with intent. I currently work part-time and and my availability is mainly on the weekends. If you need availability during the work week, send a request and I may be able to adjust my schedule. I prefer caring for my client's pets in their own home. I strongly feel that pets feel more safe and loved when they are in a familiar environment. I would also love to meet the pet and the pet parents before a new session to get a sense of needs and that pet's personality.
About: I’ve had cats and dogs my entire life, including kittens and puppies so I am very well versed in the pet realm! I am on-time and I can ensure that you can trust me to take great care and show lots of love to your furry friend :) I work as a bartender part-time about 1-2 times a week and I am taking online classes this summer so I am very available to care for your pets! I care for pets in their home by sticking closely to their normal routine to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I follow all instructions for feeding, walks, medications, and any specific needs. I also make sure they get plenty of attention and care, while keeping the home clean and respecting the client’s space. I send regular updates and photos so owners feel confident their pet is in good hands.
About: I don’t just show up—I take the time to understand each cat’s individual personality, preferences, and quirks. Whether that means respecting their need for space or engaging them with their favorite toy, I adapt my care to fit them. I also keep pet parents in the loop with updates and photos, so they feel confident and at ease while they’re away. My experience, reliability, and love for animals make me someone pets can trust—and someone owners can count on. I’m based in Athens, GA, working part time. For the holiday season I will be in Atlanta. I’m most free in the evenings and morning before 9 a.m. When caring for pets, I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment tailored to each animal’s unique needs. I stick closely to feeding and medication schedules, keep living spaces clean, and make sure pets get plenty of playtime, enrichment, and affection. For cats, that might mean quiet companionship and interactive toys; for dogs, it often means long walks, games, and plenty of exercise. I also communicate regularly with pet parents, providing updates and photos so they know their pets are happy and well cared for while they’re away.

Hanna is absolutely fantastic! She took such great care of our pups. We were out of town for about 10 days and she sent pics everyday of our fur babies. She was responsive, responsible, attentive, and just the best! I couldn't recommend her highly enough as a pet and house sitter! Thanks, Hanna!

Hailey did an amazing job taking care of my home and flint over the weekend. She was responsible, communicative, and clearly very attentive to detail. I felt completely at ease knowing everything was in such good hands while I was away. My home was just as clean and organized as I left it, and Flint was happy, well cared for, and comfortable when I returned. Hailey followed all instructions perfectly and even went the extra mile to make sure everything ran smoothly. I would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful pet sitter.

I’m so incredibly thankful for Connor and the care he gave my pets. He was kind, patient, and so chill, which made a huge difference for both me and my pets. I really appreciated how understanding and flexible he was, and it meant so much that he was willing to stay the night to help my pets feel safe and comfortable. That level of care and compassion is rare, and I could truly tell he wanted the best for my animals. I would absolutely trust Connor again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone dependable, thoughtful, and genuinely caring.

This was our first time using Rover. Lyss was so great about coming and meeting our dogs before we confirmed. I love the interaction she had with them and her questions showed she really cared. She took great care of them and we are definitely going to be using her in the future!

This is the second time I’ve used Sara to pet sit my dog, Lenny, and she was fantastic once again. I never have to worry when Lenny is with her. She sends regular photo updates, and he always looks happy and well cared for. It’s clear he feels comfortable and enjoys his time with her. Sara is wonderful, and I would absolutely recommend her—and will continue to use her again in the future.

We are beyond grateful for the incredible care our dog and cat received. From the moment we met, it was clear how kind, responsible, and genuinely loving they are with animals. We had complete peace of mind knowing our pets were safe, happy, and well cared for. The updates and photos were so appreciated and showed just how comfortable our pets were. We couldn’t have asked for a better caregiver and would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for exceptional pet care.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Athens walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Athens maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Athens choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
