Taryn was really sweet throughout the whole process and our two dogs seemed to respond well to her. Her photos of the dogs during her stay were endearing and showed that she formed a great relationship with them.

I’m so thankful for finding Hailey! This was my very first time leaving Luna ,my dog, and my home under someone else’s care and I couldn’t have chosen better! Luna was extremely comfortable with Hailey, as soon as she walked through the door Luna liked her. Her schedule was followed without issues and she even took her on long walks. Luna didn’t miss a single meal and I could tell she was happy and calm in every picture. She even put her hoodie on during colder days. My home was in good hands as well. It was so clean and tidy it didn’t even look like someone was staying there! Being our first time doing this, me and my husband were very nervous but Hailey sent us updates and pictures as often as she could and that allowed us to enjoy our trip. As dog owners, we look for someone who would treat your dog as their own and that’s exactly what Hailey did! I can confidently say I will keep coming to back to her every time I need my home or my dog taken care of! Thank you Hailey!

Dan & Kat took care of our babies for a week and it went awesome! In the past, one of our boys has had anxiety when we've left and had accidents. Not so this time! Our two dogs and cat loved Dan & Kat and we wouldn't hesitate to book with them again. From the meet and greet to being flexible on our dogs' schedules and daily updates, everything was absolutely perfect.

I had a very long day and night at work and I needed someone last minute to come to my house and stay with my puppy dachshund. She's amazing with communication and I already knew she was going to be a great fit. BELLA loved her and I felt so safe and comfortable leaving. I got picture updates often along with check ins. If Michella is available, I'll only use her to watch Bella at my place. Thanks again Michelle!! You're Great!!

Heaven was a wonderful house sitter and caregiver for our pets while we were away. We have two high energy and needy dogs and she took such great care of them along with our 2 cats too! She left our house tidy and clean. And she even left us a card and flowers which was just so incredibly sweet and such a nice gift to come home to! I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and kind pet or house sitter. And I will definitely ask her to house sit again in the future!

Ashely stayed in our home with our animals while we were out of town, and did a great job! Our house was left tidy and our animals appear happy and safe. She was great at sending pictures and communicating what was going on while we were gone. I felt safe having her in our home and with our pets who we love like family. Will definitely be booking her for many vacations to come!

Samantha did a fantastic job taking care of our pets while we were out of town. We have a dog that is challenging when you first meet her, but Samantha with her calm demeanor and animal behavior experience, won our dog over and now Fiadh loves it when Samatha comes over for a walk. Samantha kept in touch with us consistently and sent plenty of pictures. We highly recommend her!

About: I’ve always had dogs my whole life, I currently have a Pitt Bull Mix. The majority of my experience is with medium to large dogs, but I love all of them. I have plenty of experience with dogs! I grew up with dogs and I’ve had plenty in my life. Right now I have a very high energy Pitt Bull mix and she’s very spoiled! But, like my grandpa says, “a spoiled dog is a good dog.” I have a very high energy dog, who would love a playmate! She’s very loving and friendly! She would do well with a friendly and playful dog.

About: With over 10 years of hands-on experience in pet care, I have developed a deep and compassionate understanding of animal’s needs and behavior! I am an owner of two dogs (ages 3 and 5), and will treat your fur babies as my own. They are truly a part of the family and should be treated as such! I have experience with puppies as well as senior animals and can administer medicine, help with training, and go on walks with them! I currently work four days a week but would be available on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays to help out with your pet care needs! I am more of a home body on the weekends so I often do not have plans and would be able to care for your pets with no issues! There’s no better way to fill time than to take the best care of other’s pets! Animals mean the world to me and I aim to aid your animals in the way that you want them cared for. If they need to be crated, I can ensure that they are not in distress. If they have a special routine, I will make sure to adhere to that. I want your animal as comfortable around me as they’d be around their own family!

About: My husband and I have owned our dogs since 2018, adopting a third in 2024. We've been fostering for a rescue for nearly 3 years- we've fostered/rehabilitated 16 dogs through adoption so far! We call them our "foster alumni" and often see them back for a weekend of pet sitting. I work a standard 9-5:30, so my availability is limited to nights and weekends. If you're nearby with a morning need, let me know and maybe we can work it out. Our pets are welcome in all parts of our home, as well as any guest dogs. We always kennel "guest" dogs when we're away. Our younger dog is still kenneled when we're gone, the older ones stay in the office. When we're here, our dogs and guest dogs have a fenced in front and back yard to play in, an easy neighborhood to walk in, and can take their pick from the toy bin in the living room.

About: Aside from owning 2 dogs, 2 cats, and a reptile, I have worked as a kennel tech at a dog daycare for almost a year. There, I worked with dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and conditions, ensuring comfort and ample enrichment. Also, I am studying wildlife sciences to work in wildlife education and I love all types of animals (except wasps). Before the semester starts, I am available all week! After that, I can come spend time or board on mornings and evenings on weekdays as well as all weekend. With each pet and home, I’d make sure to take the time to familiarize myself the pet(s) space and preferences. I would care for and enrich the pet(s) as if they were my own, making sure to spend quality time in ways that are more receptive to them. I’m also open to accommodating various specific requests and also care for other pets (e.g. fish, snakes, bunnies, etc). I’m more than happy to welcome pets into my house. In those cases, I’d spend time testing compatibility and comfort in my environment with my own pets and accommodate the pet(s) as necessary to ensure low stress but plenty of enrichment. I also have a spare room I could host the pet(s) in.

About: On top of personally having several pets since I was a child, I have also volunteered at local Animal Shelters during my spare time. It is fun spending time with pets of all types and bring joy to my life! I have worked from home for the last 5 years. This makes it extremely convenient to take pups out for a walk and also spend time with them during the day. I always ensure food and water bowls are filled on schedule or as needed per pup. I know how nerve wracking it can be worrying if doors were locked or crates shut all the way so I ensure these are secure before leaving the home.

This is our second time having Bailey dog and house sit for us, she goes above and beyond to make sure our pups are well taken care of! Bailey takes them from nice/long walks, plays with them, and gives them lots of cuddles while we are away. She also leaves the house in perfect shape and communicates frequently to keep us in the loop! Bailey has become a sitter that we will continue to book because she is so reliable and loves our dogs. We really appreciate everything she does for us!

FAQs for House Sitting - Watkinsville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Watkinsville on Rover is $41.07 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 648 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Watkinsville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Watkinsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Watkinsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Watkinsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Watkinsville. On Rover:

  • 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
