“Taviana was very communicative throughout the entire process. She was very attentive of my cats personality and provided detailed updates and pictures. I appreciated her time checking on my cat and will definitely book with her in the future!”

“Cyndi was great with our two five month old kittens. She stayed in touch with us to let us know that they were OK, and sent photos and videos that showed how much they enjoyed her company! We would recommend her without any hesitation.”

“Laura was a great find for me and my girls!!! I have an older cat and a young one. The younger girl is not as socialized and did not want anything to do with strangers. By the time I returned from my trip, not only was my kitty comfortable with Laura, she was climbing into her arms for cuddles!! If she’s available, snatch Laura up! She goes above and beyond to make your furry babies happy and safe…. My indoor cats are both runners and Laura was excellent to keep them inside. Not an easy feat…even for me. Laura was an added bonus of watering my newly planted flowers. I will keep having her visit my girls on any trips that I can book her. Thanks, Laura!!!!”

“Doh is incredibly sweet, trustworthy, and reliable. She communicates promptly, provides thoughtful updates and advice, and genuinely cares about our pet’s well-being. We truly appreciate her kindness and dedication. We highly recommend her and would happily book with her again!”

About: Hello! I specialize in caring for cats and big dogs, but I love all animals. I especially love cuddly and low energy pets. I’ve taken care of neighbors’ pets for a few years and now would like to expand my pet sitting services. I currently have two cats and have grown up with dogs as well. I’m a full time college student, currently attending night classes Monday-Wednesday. I’m available for walks and drop-ins in the morning and early afternoon on these days. Scheduling overnights on these days depend on how frequently your pets need check ins. Thursday-Sunday I’m available all day to give your pets the attention they need! Your pet’s happiness and safety is my top priority. I take the time to get to know your pets and understand what they need from my visit, whether it’s high energy playtime or cuddles and belly rubs.

About: I’ve been caring for pets since I was 14, watching over neighbors’ and others’ animals, including dogs, snakes, a bearded dragon, and cats. I’ve also had cats of my own since I was 8—four in total—and currently care for two on my own. What makes me stand out as a sitter is my ability to connect with animals, especially those that take time to warm up to new people. I’m patient, observant, and always prioritize their comfort. Whether it’s recognizing subtle body language, engaging in enrichment activities, or simply providing calm companionship, I adapt to each pet’s individual needs. In addition to pet care, I work full-time as a nanny for young children (ages 4, 2, and 6 months). This experience has strengthened my attentiveness, patience, and ability to balance multiple responsibilities at once—skills that also translate into pet care. I’m experienced in maintaining structured routines, ensuring safety, and providing comfort, which makes me well-equipped to care for pets with different personalities and needs. I treat every pet as if they were my own, offering not just basic care but also companionship and reassurance. I’d love the opportunity to care for your pet and make them feel at ease while you’re away! I will have to go home to feed and spend some time with my two kitties, Pumpkin & Hazelnut, but I also always find time to spend time with your pets as well. Some days I work in the afternoon/evening, and some I work during the day. My work schedule is listed below. Monday 4-8pm, Tuesday 8-3:30, Wednesday 1-8pm, Thursday 8-3:30, Friday 8-3:30 I provide pet care in the comfort of your home, ensuring your pet stays in a familiar and stress-free environment. Every pet is different, so I follow your specific routines, guidelines, and house rules to keep things as consistent as possible. Whether it’s feeding schedules, walk routines, playtime, or medication needs, I prioritize your pet’s well-being and comfort while respecting your home. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I take extra care to follow any instructions you provide, from home security measures to special pet needs. I also keep you updated with messages, photos, or check-ins so you have peace of mind while you’re away. My goal is to provide loving, reliable care so your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for in their own space.
About: Our three rescues recently traveled to the rainbow bridge after 13 years in our home. We are not ready to fill our home permanently, but are emotionally available to love on your babies while you’re gone. I’ve had dogs and cats my entire life. I have many years of pet sitting and house sitting including dogs, cats, fish, and bunnies. I know firsthand how expensive pet boarding is, not to mention stressful, so I am here to make traveling and being away easier. I work very part time and stay home with my kids, so I am available regularly and have an extremely flexible schedule for accommodating needs. We have a one story home with a large fenced in yard for safe exploring and sun bathing. Our home is currently pet free, so your pets would have full control of the place!

About: I’ve been caring for cats and dogs for over 12 years and have experience with pets of different ages, personalities, and needs. Growing up, my family had Pekingese and Pitbulls, and I loved walking and caring for them. I recently cared for a Yorkie puppy who was learning to potty train and needed consistent practice with basic commands and tricks. I currently have two cats of my own, and friends, relatives, and neighbors have often trusted me to care for their pets while they’re away. I’ve also helped my aunt care for a pregnant cat and her foster kittens, including feeding, cleaning, and giving them plenty of love and attention. I’ve also read extensively about why cats may be nervous or afraid of strangers and how to approach different cat personalities in a calm and respectful way. I’m patient, attentive, and genuinely love spending time with animals. My goal is always to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for while their owners are away. ❤️ I have flexibility in my schedule for pet care. I’m available for drop-in visits and dog walks on weekdays after work, as well as weekends. I’m happy to work with your schedule and provide reliable, loving care while you’re away. I prioritize your pet’s safety and comfort and treat every home with care and respect. For drop-in visits and walks, I follow your instructions closely and make sure your pet has everything they need. I’m also happy to take extra time to help shy or nervous pets feel comfortable with me. I’m happy to also take extra time to play with your pet if they feel comfortable to.
About: With an energetic pup of my own, I am no stranger to the needs of fur babies. Consistency is key when it comes to pet care and training. I will make sure your pup(s) get plenty of exercise with a walk around your local neighborhood. Each pet is unique and I will be certain to cater to your individual pet’s needs. But no matter what, I will be certain that each pet gets the same loving care as if they were one of my own. I am currently very flexible in my schedule so I can offer walks or drop ins for potty breaks and daily enrichment or house sitting for more comprehensive care for your pet when you’re away! I would love to check on your fur baby if you're busy so they don't get lonely! Personally, I have my own rambunctious pup named Lila who loves treats, walks, and attention. I would treat your dog like my own in care and affection!
About: I have taken care of a plethora of different animals for my family members, neighbors and friends. I have watched dogs for hours or weeks at a time. I am especially good with active animals that need attention. I am currently working part- time at a coffee shop so my morning start bright and early at 4am. I am normally home by 12 at the latest and am able to come home on my lunch break to take your pets out. After 12, I am completely free to take your pets on walks or just snuggle up to them on the couch. I am very comfortable around animals and can adapt to what they need. While I do not have a fenced yard, I live in a beautiful neighborhood that is more than friendly for walks. I also love to play with animals and give them attention, but know that they need their personal time as well. Whatever your animals needs, I can do!
“Jalisa was absolutely fantastic! She took such good care of Lilo while I was away. She was very reliable, communicative, and was available on such short notice! Jalisa kept me updated and provided photos that put my mind at ease. Lilo warmed up to her right away, which speaks volumes about her gentle nature. I came home to a happy, healthy kitty and a tidy house. Thank you Jalisa!!!”

About: Animals have always been my passion, and with 17 years of hands-on experience, I’ve seen it all…from high-energy puppies to independent cats and senior pets who need extra love. My day job as a therapist means I don’t just care for your pet’s physical needs; I’m an expert at reading their unique personalities and managing their emotional well-being (and let's be honest, sometimes a little separation anxiety is real!). Whether your fur baby needs special diets, medication, or just an aggressive amount of belly rubs, I’ve got it covered. Expect plenty of photo and video updates while you're away so you never miss a beat! Pet care is currently my main focus as I navigate pursuing my career goals. I’m dedicated to providing exceptional care and can structure my day according to look after the pets in my care. Whether it’s a quick drop-in or extended care, I’m open to collaboration in adjusting my schedule to ensure your pets get the attention and love they deserve. Creating a safe and trusting environment for the pets I care for is my top priority. I start by taking the time to understand each pet’s unique personality, preferences, and needs. Building trust begins with patience and gentle interactions, allowing the pet to approach me at their own pace. I use positive reinforcement and calming techniques to ensure pets feel comfortable and relaxed in my care. Communication with pet owners is also key—I make sure to keep you informed with regular updates, so you know how your pet is doing and can share any specific needs or changes. By combining attentive care, consistency, and open communication, I create an environment where pets feel safe, loved, and confident in my presence.

About: Not only have I grown up with large dogs for the past 23 years, but I have also consistently pet sat for families in need of a loving and reliable sitter. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Arden-Arcade
Christy is a fantastic sitter! She watched our two cats while we were on vacation. Christy is dependable, responsive, and trustworthy. She communicated with us each day sending lots of pictures and provided a thorough report card. She took great care of our house too. But most importantly you can tell how much she loves animals, and she took excellent care of our cats. She not only did the basics but really took time to give them love and attention. We highly recommend Christy!

Audrey did an amazing job watching our cat for almost three weeks. When the cat got sick, she communicated with me very well. She ended up taking her to the vet for me and we did a voice call with her, the vet and myself. In the following days she kept me well informed and I appreciated her opinion as to how things were going. Will continue to use Audrey for my cat sitting as I trust her totally.

Elena was amazing! She was extremely communicative throughout my vacation and took such great care of Potatoes. She took the time to understand Potatoes' individual needs, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. I came home to a happy, well-cared-for pet and would absolutely book with her again. Highly recommend!

We had a need of an emergency change in sitters while we were out of town (super stressful!) and Kevin was able to save the day! Amazing communication, great updates and photos, and truly went above and beyond in caring for our pup with walks and cuddles. Very thankful for the care and service provided by Kevin!

Prompt, attentive, flexible, and super nice! She helped us take care of our 12 week old puppy when we needed to be away last minute and she did a fantastic job! I instantly felt comfortable with leaving our young puppy with her and our puppy just loved her! Will definitely be using her for any future puppy care!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
