“I couldn’t have asked for a better person to watch my cat for me. The level of care that went into watching her was amazing and the care she had for my apartment was so unbelievably kind. The lock to my front door broke and after informing me of the situation contacted maintenance and had them fix it in my absence while ensuring she was there to look after Eden when it was being changed. On top of this the awesome photos and videos made it a wonderful and stress free experience and I can’t recommend them enough.”

“Loved the updates of my dog Marley with pictures. Took time to play with my dog and make sure my dog was comfortable in our absence. Even gave my cat some love who she was not there for. Will definitely book again next time I leave my fur babes. Anxiety reduced knowing my dog was looked after”

About: I've always loved dogs growing up and learned to train them since I also have smart and energetic dogs who need playtime, socialization, love, and discipline. I just quit my corporate job so I have a lot of time and flexibility to play with your dog, take them to the park, go for a walk, or simply keep them company. I can drive to your house for visits, walks, or take them to the park. I can also take them to my place for boarding or playtime. I have a huge fenced backyard and a fenced pool as well if you'd like your dog to swim, we can arrange for this as well. I have 2 friendly dogs who will also keep your dog company.
“Sarah demonstrates exceptional professionalism in pet care. She graciously accepted my last-minute reservation during the holiday season, and I am deeply appreciative of her assistance. During our final meet-and-greet, she provided me with a comprehensive overview of the Rover platform. Her thorough updates were invaluable. Notably, when I inadvertently missed her call regarding a question, she demonstrated remarkable self-sufficiency in making appropriate decisions. Furthermore, she went above and beyond to ensure Lilo’s well-being during a power outage in my area, bringing in packages left at my doorstep. I eagerly anticipate continuing this partnership with Sarah on Rover.”

“Laura is a natural with my cat Joy. Joy took to her immediately and loved play time. Laura arrived on time and followed directions about closing a crazy door. I was at home because of a health situation when Laura came by. I can't say enough about how comfortable I am with Laura being in my home and caring for my fur baby. Laura, thank you!!!!”

“I reached out to Maya at the last minute to help with my dog. She was prompt in replying back to me and easy to work with. She made sure to send me pictures, and I felt at ease that my dog was in good hands. I would definitely use her services again.”

About: I'm a lifelong dog and cat lover, and I’ve cared for pets from their youngest, most rambunctious years to wise seniors needing slower days. One of my own dogs started out extremely anxious, so I’m also experienced with shy or nervous pets who need calm, gentle care, and maybe a few treats to help the process along ;) I'm also up to raise my heartrate a little jogging, going on long walks, or playing tug-of-war with younger bubs who want a bit more excitement. What I Can Do for Your Pets: - Handle larger/stronger pups (my own are both pitties with lots of energy that I walk on a dual-lead leash) - Administer meds & monitor health - Long walks, playtime, and enrichment fun - Puppy, kitten, and senior care - Multi-pet household management - Work through reactivity & behavior support - Build trust and confidence in nervous pets I’d love to give your pets the same patient, loving care I give my own! Hope to hear from you soon :) I work remotely with flex-time, so my schedule is quite adaptable. I can make most times work to bring the best care to your babies! I focus on keeping pets safe, happy, and comfortable in their own home. In past experiences watching friends' animals, following each pet’s routine for feeding, walks, playtime, and any medications has helped them feel secure and well cared for. I give shy or anxious pets plenty of space and patience, avoiding overwhelm and encouraging a calm and confidence in their space. Despite how well we try to prepare ourselves, I know leaving your furry friends in the care of relative strangers can be an emotionally taxing experience. That's why I really enjoy keeping pet parents updated with notes and pictures about walks, play, meals, and behavior, so they can relax knowing their pets are happy and loved. I also enjoy taking dogs on long walks around neighborhoods, local parks, or even along the river, fitting into whatever their routine is or you as the owner would like it to be, of course. My own dogs and I have been working through their reactivity training with a clicker and training treats. I'm no expert, but they have come a long way since we started! If you have a reactive dog, rest easy knowing this isn't new to me and that I'm willing to work with them and follow your lead on whatever it is they need in those moments. Regardless of their background, every pet in my care gets patience, love, and a reassuring presence <3
“Sam took care of our kitties while we were out of town for the weekend. We would 100% book with her again! She was amazing with the cats and even brought in some packages from the porch. Thank you!”

About: I have had dogs (and cats) my entire life. Trained, love and traveled across the US with my animals in tow with me. We currently have two dogs, Ozzy & Bear. I am retired and love to garden, travel and play with our dogs! We moved back to the Sacramento Area recently and would like to do something fun and thought pet sitting would fit perfect. No pet sitting at our house. Animals need to be in their own environment where it is safe and they are comfortable with their own toys & bed.

About: I’ve raised my 14-year-old German Shepherd from puppy to senior, giving me hands-on experience with all ages. I’m patient, attentive, and treat every pet like family. I’m currently not working, so pet care easily fits into my daily routine. My flexible schedule allows me to give your pets the time and attention they deserve. When overnight pet sitting, I prefer to care for pets in their own home so they feel comfortable and secure. For daytime visits, pets are welcome at my home — I have a large backyard and a nearby park for walks. I don’t visit dog parks for safety reasons, so your pet will always stay on leash unless we’re in a safe, enclosed space at your or my home.
“Diana is the best! Our Jack Russel Halo loved her. We really appreciate the love she gave Halo over the weekend. Would highly recommend her and will ask her to dog sit Halo again.”

About: I’ve been pet sitting and house sitting for around 20 years, starting when I was about 8 or 9 years old watching neighbors’ homes and animals while they were out of town. Since then, I’ve continued caring for pets for family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and acquaintances. What sets me apart is my experience with pets who need extra patience and attention. I have cared for special-needs and senior animals, including dogs with deafness, blindness, and medical routines. I’m comfortable administering medication, eye drops, and IV fluids when given clear instructions. I also have experience with dogs of different sizes, from small and medium dogs to larger breeds like German Shepherds and Labs. I’m gentle, reliable, detail-oriented, and very respectful of each pet’s routine. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, senior, medically fragile, or just happiest with consistency, I’ll treat them with patience, kindness, and care. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I currently work part-time as a Program Aide at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, which leaves me available for early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and many overnight house-sitting needs. Because I have a cat at home, pet care is already part of my everyday life. Feeding schedules, litter box care, fresh water, medication routines, playtime, and quiet companionship are all things I’m used to building my day around. I understand how important consistency is for animals, especially cats, senior pets, anxious pets, and pets with special needs. My schedule works especially well for clients who need dependable check-ins before or after work, afternoon care, evening visits, or overnight house sitting. I’m reliable, routine-oriented, and careful about keeping pets comfortable while their owners are away. Safety, trust, and routine are my biggest priorities when caring for pets. In a client’s home, I follow their instructions closely so their pet’s normal routine stays as familiar and stress-free as possible. I pay attention to feeding schedules, medication instructions, litter boxes, walks, water, playtime, quiet time, and any special rules for the home. I treat every home with respect and care. I’m mindful about locking doors, securing gates, keeping food and medications out of reach, cleaning up after pets, and leaving the space the way I found it. I also keep an eye out for changes in behavior, appetite, bathroom habits, mobility, or mood, especially with senior pets or pets with medical needs. Because I have experience with special-needs animals, I understand how important patience and consistency can be. I’m comfortable caring for pets who are shy, anxious, elderly, blind, medically fragile, or simply need extra reassurance. My goal is always to make pets feel safe, cared for, and comfortable while giving owners peace of mind through clear communication and updates.

“Jenna was wonderful with my senior dog. She was very adaptable to his specific needs and asked thoughtful questions about his routine to make sure everything was done exactly right. Her updates were thorough and reassuring, and she took the time to sit with him and keep him happy and comfortable while I was away. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. I would absolutely request Jenna again and highly recommend her to friends.”

“Johnna is an amazing pet sitter. I can’t tell you how reassuring it is to know that she is the one in our home taking care of our beloved pets. I feel very fortunate to have found her.”

“Alexandrea dropped in on our 2 big black labs for 3 days while we were traveling. She was always on time and very responsive. I had to add another drop in at the last minute and she was able to help us! I'm very grateful for her hard work and would be happy to use her again.”

About: I’ve been a pet lover for as long as I can remember. Pets aren’t just animals—they’re part of the family and deserve the best care possible. I’ve been caring for family pets since I was 13, and I truly enjoy spending time with animals of all ages. I especially love working with young puppies and watching them grow and learn through training. At the same time, older dogs always surprise me with how smart and unique they are. Whether your pet needs fresh water, food, playtime, or just some extra cuddles, I’ll be there to make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for. I currently work a part time jobs with kids but am looking for on my free time during the week another way to increase my income and there’s nothing better to do than something u enjoy and for me that’s animals weekends I usally work 430-830pm or 945am-3 week days I’d 345-830 I usally work about 3 days a week I will care for your pets with the same love and attention I would give my own. I make sure they always have fresh food and water, get plenty of exercise, and feel safe and comfortable in their environment. I’m happy to follow any specific instructions you have, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, or training routines. Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Carmichael
I can't say enough great things about Johnna! She was incredibly patient, kind, and diligent in following my instructions. My dogs are quite shy and tend to be difficult with new people, but she managed to connect with them in a way that I've never seen before. She even found a way to play fetch with them, bringing out their playful sides and building a bond that I thought would take much longer. Her wonderful approach made a world of difference in their comfort levels. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring and skilled dog sitter!

Jessica was fantastic! Very good communication and super friendly. Our cats unfortunately got into a fight while she was there and she broke it up swiftly and separated them appropriately, as well as updated me right away. She also had to do a last minute ask of giving my cat twice daily medicine after an emergency dental surgery and took it on well and with no gripes at all. She definitely knows what she’s doing and I highly recommend her!

Susan has cared for my cat several times, my cat likes her! He can be moody and Susan understands that. She plays with him, brushes him and doesn’t worry when he’s camera shy. He’s comfortable around her and she takes good care of him. I have the peace of mind that he’s okay when I’m away!

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
