“I would recommend Michelle!! Ozzy loves going to hers. Her care is great for dogs like mine who are excited, need exercise and supervision. Ozzy always gets to run around and play and Michelle is very tentative with his care! 5 stars definitely a great environment”

“Bruce is amazing! His kindness and his love of animals just shines through. Our little Sweet Pea is a great judge of character, and she happily trots away with Bruce when we bring her to him. Bruce gives us great feedback during her stay and when we pick her up. I feel comfortable that I'm leaving her with a genuinely caring person.”

“Siqing is an absolute angel and took such good care of Mia. She was quick to respond, patient with our last minute request. She sent pictures and let us know how Mia was doing during her stay. So nice to get away for a little bit and know my dog will be well taken care of...Siqing is the best!!! :)”

“Noemi and her family are incredibly kind. My pup can be high energy so their large backyard is a great fit for him to run and have fun. Blue is also loved by their children and he absolutely loves them back. Your pup will be in great hands with them. They also send photos and updates throughout the day which is nice update to receive. Thank you for all you do!”

“We had a wonderful experience using Ingrid’s doggy day care services for the first time. We started with a meet and greet and Ingrid is helping Shadow ease into the new space and other dog intros in a digestible fashion. She is quick to respond, has great communication, very professional and experienced, with attentiveness towards each dog’s unique needs. It’s a relief to know my pup is in safe, caring hands getting the love, attention, play and exercise he needs. We just moved to the area and are looking forward to booking with Ingrid regularly during my work days. Thank you, Ingrid!”

“Gracie had a great day with Mariana and her crew. Mariana welcomed her with open arms. Having the fenced back yard so accessible is perfect for letting dogs in and out as needed, but the house itself is comfy and warm -- just right for these snowy, cold winter days. I highly recommend Mariana as a loving dog care giver.”

About: I’m a mother of 3 children and two fur babies, a Labrador and a tuxedo cat. In addition to caring for my own pets over the years, I have some experience with foster care as well as veterinary assistance. My schedule is flexible as I am a stay at home parent. Daytime is best but I am also available for night check ins and weekends. My pets are very friendly but I will respect the wishes of the pet owner on how much exposure they prefer their pet to have to other people or pets, as well as any other safety concerns they may have. I live on a low traffic cul-de-sac street, ideal for walking.
“Seems like my boys adjusted well to a new environment and humans. My youngest fur baby can be very anxious at times and I have a very senior fur baby that needed extra TLC. I was glad to have someone that understand the specific needs of my babies. I am excited for their next visit!!!”

“Ashley was very communicative and was a great sitter for our little guy. Our dog is normally very shy and doesn’t like new surroundings, but Ashley was able to make him feel right at home, sending me photos of my pup smiling.. actually smiling because he was having a grand ole time. 10/10 recommend!”

About: With years of hands-on experience caring for dogs and cats, I provide more than just pet sitting — I offer dependable, loving companionship tailored to each pet’s needs and one thing I can say I specialize in is accustoming to different routines based on your pet’s schedule and preferences, from long walks to playtime to quiet cuddle sessions! I treat every animal as if they were my own — with patience, love, and respect. My goal is to ensure your pet feels safe, happy, and cared for while you're away. I work at a school which means my schedule could be flexible at times and I do have weekends off which gives me more than enough play time for your furry friends on the weekends! I have a large fenced backyard which gives the dogs a chance to run around and play freely. I also have a partner who is a Firefighter and a huge dog lover and has more of a flexible schedule on most days so on the weekdays when I am at work and he is not working they will still be with someone offering lots of love and attention.
“Kara was great! She was super flexible and willing to watch Shadow with what I believed was a last minute request! I would definitely recommend to anyone if you’re looking for a sweet and personable dog sitter!”

About: I've loved dogs for as long as I can remember. For the past 4 years I've helped my stepmom with her pet-sitting business, caring for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities. I've also watched, walked, and cared for pets for friends, family members, and neighbors. Being around animals never feels like work to me. I love getting outside for walks, playing with energetic dogs, and giving extra attention to dogs that might be missing their owners. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your pet, and I do my best to make every dog feel comfortable, safe, and happy while you're away. Pet care fits easily into my routine because I love spending time with animals. Between working at home and my other responsibilities, I make sure I have plenty of time set aside to give pets the attention they deserve. Whether it's a walk, drop-in visit, or overnight care, I'm happy to work with your pet's normal routine and make sure they stay comfortable and cared for. I know every pet is different, so I always take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special needs they may have. I follow owners' instructions carefully and make sure pets always have fresh water, exercise, attention, and a safe environment. I'll also keep you updated while you're away with photos and messages because I know how much that means to their families.
“Stephanie took great care of my beagle for three days while I had to travel out of state. He came home to me exhausted and happy after full days of playing and walks. Thanks Stephanie!”

About: I have many experiences pet sitting and taking care of dogs. As I kid my parents would not let me have a dog which lead to me taking up any opportunity I could to take care of any family or friends pets. I have helped to take care of dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, turtles , fish and I hope to continue this hobby. I now live in an apartment that does not allow pets and try to find any ways I can to interact with animals. I hav experiences walking, bathing, feeding, and playing wiyh dogs. I also have multiple years od experience taking care of rescue cats at animal shelters. Additionally I also shadowed a vet and have seen how animals are taken care of in a professional setting. I am free most afternoons and most mornings and can try to work around your schedule. I am free on weekends and can easily change my schedule around. My apartment unfortunately does not allow pets, but as a student I have a very flexible schedule to come to your home and take care of your animal. I have a lot of experience working with animals and know how to handle shy animals gently as well as playful animals with the same enthusiasm they give off. I miss being able to interact with animals and would love the opportunity to spend some time with your pet :).
About: I love pets! I have had both cats and dogs. It’s been a few years since I have had a pet of my own but I have been a trusted sitter for many dog breeds when my friends or family are out of town. Nothing is better than a greeting of a pet. I used to travel more so I never had a dog of my own. I am in the process of getting one soon! With your help , I’m on my way to becoming a cat/dog mom! I work remotely and am in NYC a day a week but am home on weekends and 4 days a week. My job is flexible and I am reliable. I live in a secured apartment building and there is a dog area. I am open to come to your home as well. I am a professional.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Ansonia
Kara was great. Very accommodating, which really helped me with my early drop off and late pickup. I was nervous about leaving my 10 week old pup with anyone for the day, but I’m glad I did. My pup came home good and tired. She seemed to have had a fulfilled day. Thank you Kara.

This was our second time using Bruce, and we couldn’t be more grateful! Even with a last-minute request, booked less than 24 hours in advance, he was incredibly accommodating. He provided frequent text updates and tons of photos, showing our dog getting all the attention and belly rubs he adores. Having that peace of mind allowed us to enjoy our time, while away from our pup. Highly recommended!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
