About: Seasoned Rover sitter with roughly 15 years of experience caring for other people’s pets. I’m big on communication, so expect lots of photos, regular updates, and detailed notes about our time together, from walks and activities to meals and anything else worth sharing. I want you to feel completely at ease knowing your pet is in good hands! I’m that person at the party hanging out with the dog or cat instead of the people. I grew up surrounded by all kinds of animals, from foster pets to forever family members, thanks to my dad, a veterinarian who worked with both domestic and exotic species. Growing up around his work taught me a lot about animal care, and I’m very comfortable administering medications. I volunteer as a shelter dog walker several days a week, and my own pup, Isla, is 13. Between my shelter experience and years of caring for animals with different temperaments, I’m especially comfortable with reactive, anxious, and shy dogs. I understand that every animal has their own personality and needs, and I’m happy to meet them where they are, with patience, care, and plenty of love. I am a full time grad student in an asynchronous program. I have plenty of time to hang with your pets for as long as they/you need. I offer drop ins for potty breaks and playtime, as well as dog walks. Walks would vary based on the pets needs, but I am fully willing to accommodate most requests while giving walks. I volunteer regularly at the shelter and have received expert training from them on handling pets with high anxiety, strong pulling, and reactivity. I’ve put that training to good use walking all the pups over there.

About: Hello! I’m Tracy and I appreciate your interest in my services! I am a recently retired elementary school teacher and a lifelong animal lover. I grew up with dogs and cats and they have been a part of my entire adult life. I believe that pets are family members and should be treated as such. My core beliefs about the welfare and humane treatment of animals were informed by witnessing as a child the actions of my grandmother. To illustrate: she would regularly take in stray cats from her neighborhood, providing them with a safe, loving, and healthy home. She would have up to 6 cats at any given time! She would also trespass on our neighbor’s property and fill empty water bowls and clean out the backyard kennels of the hunting beagles that were kept and largely neglected. (Well behaved women seldom make history, amirite?!). Professionally, I have prior experience as a dog walker and trainer, volunteering and working with dogs in organizations such as the Sacramento (CA) SPCA, Seattle Humane Society, Ahimsa Dog training in Ballard, and the Service Dog Academy (formerly in the Morgan Junction in West Seattle). I also attended the Karen Pryor Academy Dog Trainer Program in Salem, OR. All of the skills I learned and used were grounded in a positive reinforcement, force-free approach. I am also a nature lover and my idea of heaven is walking through the woods or in the mountains with a canine companion by my side. Maybe your pup would enjoy a walk through the park with me? We recently lost our sweet husky, Luna, and are still feeling the huge void that she has left. Since we are not ready to welcome a new pup to our home yet, I am grateful for the opportunity to channel my love and devotion to the animals in my care. I have recently retired from full time teaching. At this time I will not be taking recurring appointments, but otherwise have a flexible/variable schedule. If seeking house sitting, please be advised that I will occasionally be substitute teaching, as well as providing occasional walks/drop-ins for other clients so, at times, may be out of the house for one to four hours at a time. If your pet requires more constant care, I may be able to accommodate on a case by case basis for an adjusted rate. Just ask! Your pets safety and comfort is my #1 priority. We have a secure, large, fenced in property for your pup(s) to play in. We have a very comfortable home, but your pup must be able to climb a set of stairs as our house is a split level. Your dog will be treated as an honorary member of the family while they are here, and, since we are currently pet-free, will get all the love and attention they deserve! A note on boarding and day care: my husband operates a telehealth practice at home. Due to this we will only be able to accept dogs that are relatively chill - no extreme barking, reactivity, whining, or separation anxiety. Not asking for perfection - I understand dogs can be a little anxious especially at the beginning of a stay in a new place, but if you’re unsure let’s talk about it! Also, we have bunnies in the yard (not pets, but “wild”). In the absence of a full time dog, they have gotten comfortable and complacent here. If your pup has a strong prey drive and is fast, this may not be the best fit! 🐰
