About: I’m a long-time pet sitter who took care of my neighbors’ dogs, cats, hermit crabs, birds, and fish growing up. As a child, I took attentive care of my hamster, betta fish, and snail and loved growing up with cats. In 2020, I fostered and then adopted my cat, Cruz, from the SPCA. We lived with two humans, two dogs, and three rats. Cruz and I now live with my partner and her cat, Moo Moo, in Belmont. I regularly commute through Rio Road and can easily spend time with your pets on my way to and from my part-time job at the library. I live in Belmont and regularly commute through town and Rio Road. About: I grew up with large dogs and cats and have a beloved rescue cat now. As a young person, I housesat, babysat, and took care of animals throughout my neighborhood and my parents’ friend group. I am used to taking care of my family’s dogs when they are out of town. All I need is an introduction and instructions. I am a kind, mature, and responsible person -- a homeowner myself -- and would be happy to take extra care with simple tasks (like collecting mail and watering plants) while I’m checking on your animals. Let me know how I can help and provide peace of mind while you are away! I am currently working part-time from home and finishing a graduate program at UVA so I have a flexible schedule. I prefer early morning and evening checkins/walks (in case I do need to go into work). I can be available to stay overnight if needed. In my client's home, I really want to provide as much continuity as possible. That means emotionally supporting and reassuring your animals and maintaining their schedules and habits with food and medication. It also means fun, a chance for your companions to experience a new friendly face in a safe environment. In my home: My cat is a rescue that came out of a very difficult situation. She is wonderful and we're so proud of how far she has come from the terrified animal we first adopted. I do not feel that she would welcome other animals into our home at this time, however.

Kailyn did an incredible job caring for our dog and two elderly cats overnight while we were out of town for several days. She didn't just do the basics of feeding and potty breaks; she spent time with the pets, communicated regularly, sent photo updates, and I swear the house and the animals were cleaner when we got home than when we left. She even befriended our antisocial tabby by the end of her stay! I was so grateful to know my pets were in great hands while I was far away and would absolutely have Kailyn back again. Mackenzie stayed in our home with Maverick for a week while we were away, and it was such a comfort knowing he was being cared for in his own home. She sent us pictures and updates every day, which I really appreciated and always looked forward to receiving. She also brought in our mail and helped with watering our flowers while we were gone. Maverick was happy and doing well when we returned home, which of course was the most important thing to us. We appreciated Mackenzie taking care of him and would definitely consider having her stay with Maverick again!
I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Danielle. She was absolutely incredible from beginning to end, and I genuinely don’t think we could have found a better person to care for our pets. I was extremely anxious about leaving them, especially because our dog, Merlin, can be anxious when we’re away and requires a little more patience, attention, and understanding than the average dog. Our cats also have their own personalities, routines, and anxieties, so trusting someone else with all three of them was a really big deal for me. Danielle completely put my mind at ease. She followed every single care instruction to a tee and was so attentive to all of the little details that matter to us. More importantly, though, she treated our animals with so much genuine love, patience, and kindness. She took the time to make Merlin feel comfortable and secure, kept up with his routines, gave him plenty of attention, and handled his anxiety beautifully. She even handled his grooming incredibly well, which was another aspect of his care that meant a lot to us. Merlin is a Samoyed with a lot of fur and grooming him can require patience and a gentle approach, and Danielle did an amazing job making sure he was comfortable while still taking such great care of his coat. I was genuinely impressed by how confidently and patiently she handled him. She was equally wonderful with our cats and allowed them to warm up to her at their own pace while making sure they felt safe, loved, and cared for. Seeing how comfortable they became with her was incredibly reassuring. Danielle also went above and beyond when it came to communication. She sent us frequent updates and so many wonderful photos, told us how everyone was doing, and gave me an incredible amount of reassurance throughout the entire time we were away. She seemed to understand without me even having to explain just how hard it was for me to leave them, and her updates allowed me to actually relax and enjoy our trip because I knew our babies were in such capable and loving hands. What stood out most was that this never felt like someone simply “watching our pets.” Danielle genuinely cared about them. You can tell when someone is just completing a list of instructions versus when someone is truly invested in making your animals feel happy, comfortable, and loved, and Danielle was absolutely the latter. The amount of care and compassion she showed them meant more to us than I can adequately put into words. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pets and a home that had been treated with the utmost respect. Knowing that Merlin and the cats had someone so loving and dependable with them while we were gone was priceless. If you are an anxious pet parent, have pets with specific routines or needs, or simply want someone you can completely trust with the animals you consider family, I cannot recommend Danielle highly enough. She exceeded every expectation we had. We are beyond grateful for everything she did for us and our fur babies, and we would trust her with them again in a heartbeat. She is truly an absolute gem, and anyone would be incredibly lucky to have her caring for their pets. We definitely look forward to having her stay again❤️
This is my first time using Rover. We were visiting the city and Kala was excellent!!!! It was the a horrible storm and she came anyway. After the storm, she took my dog out for a walk and did puppy training with her. Kala sent me pictures of my puppy while in her care. My puppy fell in love with her! She is the best!!! I wished she lived in my home town!! She is worth every penny.
Bryn was great! My pets can both be shy and slow to warm up to people, and they loved her! Both Piper and Beckett ended up snuggling with her while she stayed with them. Maggie was amazing! We came home to a happy, well fed, well walked dog!
