“Laura was awesome to work with. I put in a request the day before I needed it and she responded within 15 minutes. She was also very communicative with her check-in’s. She definitely saved the day for me and my family with our dogs. I would highly recommend using her and I will be using her again in the future.”
“My sweet senior Chihuahua was at ease with Jess from the very first meeting. Jess has a calming nature, which I believe my dog sensed right away. He’s quite comfortable with her already. Communication with Jess is prompt and thorough. I appreciate that she asks questions so that she may provide the best care. She sends photo/video updates giving peace of mind that my dog is happy and well cared for. There are many sitters to choose from on Rover, but I feel I hit the jackpot with Jess!”

“Karla was great with Blaze. She dropped in for an hour and Blaze enjoyed being with her. She was responsive to my questions and gave me updates while she was with him. Will definitely book with Karla in the future”

“Kelsey went above and beyond for the four days she watched my kitty. She seemed to love her and I didn’t have to worry. She even took my packages in and my trash out which was greatly appreciated!”

“You have a wonderful service and l couldn’t be happier with Linda, my cat whisperer. She is loving and gentle and made friends with my cat at first meeting before I even left, I was able to enjoy my visit with my sons family knowing Kiki would be getting some loving and company while I was gone. Can’t say enough good things about Linda and your service.”
About: I’ve been a dog owner my entire life and have cared for dogs through pet sitting and dog walking since college. I also have a German Shepherd who I’ve had for 8 years, so I’m very comfortable with medium and large dogs. I enjoy long walks, feeding, cleanup, and giving dogs plenty of exercise and attention. I always prioritize safety and treat every dog in my care like my own. I am comfortable with cats. I will walk your dog, rain or shine, weather permitting as safety is always first. I’m available Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 AM–1 PM for weekday walks. I’m looking to build a small group of recurring clients, so I can provide consistent care and get to know each dog and their routine. I’m flexible within those hours for 30–60 minute walks and can accommodate occasional potty breaks or shorter visits as well. I’ll follow your pet’s normal routine and give them plenty of care and attention. Depending on their needs, visits can include a walk, feeding, fresh water, a potty break, and some playtime. I’ll always make sure they’re safe and comfortable before I leave and send you an update afterward.
“Mary was great! She did drop ins for 5 days while we were gone and came for a meet n greet first to go over everything. She sent lots of pictures each time and communicated great! We would be glad to use Mary again for our next trip!”

“We had an absolutely wonderful experience with our cat sitter Caitlin and couldn’t be happier with the care she provided. She did drop‑in visits for over a week and was incredibly easy to communicate with from start to finish. She truly went above and beyond in every way. After each visit, she sent many photos of our cat, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She also left detailed, thoughtful updates every day, explaining exactly what she did during the visit and how our cat was doing overall. It was clear she genuinely cared and paid close attention to our cat’s needs and well‑being. Knowing our cat was in such capable, attentive, and loving hands made our time away completely stress‑free. We highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, communicative, and exceptional sitter. We would absolutely book with her again.”
“Madeline was an amazing sitter for our two cats! She was reliable, communicative, and followed all of our instructions perfectly. One of our cats requires medication, and she handled that with care and confidence, which gave us great peace of mind. She also went above and beyond by spending time outside with our cats so they could safely enjoy their courtyard time—something they really love. It meant so much to know they were getting that extra attention while we were away. We had two very happy, well-cared-for kitties. I would absolutely book Madeline again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and thoughtful sitter!”

About: I have been pet sitting for over 12 years in Washington D.C., Seattle, and Placer County CA. I had a roster of repeat clients and was so in demand that I had to stop advertising. All of my clients eventually booked me via word of mouth. I still keep in touch with all of my clients. I have taken care of all types (young, old, large, and small) of dogs and dogs with medical issues. I pride myself on being communicative and taking the best care of your pet, by tailoring the care to your expectations and pets needs. I have references upon request. Throughout the past 6+, I have experience house-sitting for family friends and neighbors and taking care of pets that couldn't go along with them on vacation. As part of a house-sitting service, I know that maintaining gardens and plants is tough, so I am always happy to help in that area as well as any other around-the-house duties. I pride myself on being very communicative and transparent. I always send the owners pictures of their and inform them about how things are going.
About: I’ve been a proud pet owner my entire adult life, with a special place in my heart for large breeds like pitbulls, malinois, bloodhounds, and bulldogs. Over the years, I’ve learned how to care for dogs with a wide range of personalities — from high-energy working dogs to laid-back couch companions. In 2019, I founded a foster-based nonprofit dog rescue focused primarily on bully breeds. Through that work, I cared for dogs of all ages — from tiny puppies to gentle seniors — many with behavioral or medical needs. I gained hands-on experience with training, medication administration, socialization, and rehabilitation, all while ensuring each dog felt safe, loved, and understood. In 2023, I transitioned the rescue to my amazing team so I could focus on providing more individualized, one-on-one care through pet sitting. I bring the same dedication, structure, and compassion to every pet I look after as if they were my own. Whether your dog needs calm companionship, structured walks, or just someone who understands their unique quirks, they’ll be in good hands with me. ❤️ I have a flexible job that allows me to work from home, which means I’m able to give plenty of attention and care throughout the day. I’m typically only away from home for a couple of hours at a time, so your pet will have lots of company, playtime, and supervision. Whether it’s a mid-day walk, weekend stay, or overnight care, I can easily adjust my schedule to meet your pet’s needs. Consistency, comfort, and connection are always my priorities. Pets in my care are treated like family. I provide a calm, structured, and loving home environment where dogs can relax and feel secure. My home is pet-safe, clean, and set up for comfort, with plenty of room for lounging, play, and outdoor breaks. Because of my background running a dog rescue, I’m very experienced with different breeds, behaviors, and energy levels. I make sure each dog has the right balance of attention, activity, and rest, following their individual needs and routines. I’m home most of the day and maintain a consistent schedule, so pets are never left alone for long. You can trust that your dog will be safe, supervised, and cared for as if they were my own.
“Allie and JoJo were the purrrrfect helpers for our cats, they communicated clearly and even provided “proof of life” photos for us to see our girls were doing okay. We would absolutely book with them again!”

About: I’ve cared for animals my whole life, dogs, cats, small pets and I’m known for being calm, patient, and detail-oriented. I specialize in in-home care so your pet stays relaxed in their familiar space. I’m comfortable with seniors, puppies, and anxious or shy pets, and I follow your routines exactly (feeding, meds, potty schedule, exercise). My schedule allows me plenty of time for quality pet care! I’m available most mornings and evenings. I do work part time and have my kids week on week off so between work and kids I make time for pet walks and pet care when I have my kids. When I don't have my kids, I have more available hours and can-do house sitting locally in the placer county area. I take caring for pets in their own home very seriously and always treat your space with respect. I follow your routines exactly ~ meals, walks, meds, and bedtime ~ so your pets feel calm and secure while you’re away. I keep everything tidy, lock up carefully, and provide regular photo updates so you can relax knowing your home and pets are safe and well cared for. My goal is to make your time away completely worry-free.

About: I’ve been caring for dogs since I was 10 years old, helping family, friends, and neighbors with feeding, fresh water, playtime, walks, potty breaks, check-ins, and keeping them company. I’m comfortable helping with daily routines such as giving treats, cleaning up after pets, providing exercise, playing fetch, giving them attention and affection, and making sure they are comfortable and safe in their home. I understand that every dog has their own personality, energy level, routine, and needs, and I take the time to learn what makes each pet feel comfortable and secure. I’m patient, responsible, attentive, and able to recognize when a dog may need space, extra attention, or reassurance. I’m currently a part-time college student and working part-time. I’m completing 8-hour training shifts through the Oct.16th, after which my work schedule will become more flexible. Because of my flexible schedule, I’m available to provide pet sitting, dog walking, drop-in visits, and other pet-care services around my class and work commitments. I’m happy to communicate with pet parents in advance to discuss their pets’ routines, needs, and preferences so I can provide reliable, consistent, and loving care. I’m committed to treating every pet with patience, care, and the same attention I would want for my own. I have a safe and caring environment where pets can feel comfortable and secure. I take pet safety seriously and always follow their normal routines, feeding instructions, medication directions, and exercise needs. I provide plenty of attention, playtime, potty breaks, and supervision while making sure each pet feels comfortable and cared for. I’m also respectful of clients’ homes and will treat their pets and belongings with the same care I would want for my own.

McKenzie is the best! She was so wonderful with our 6 year old Aussie. She sent messages and pictures each day and completely eased my worries. She was very dependable and felt she took the responsibility of caring for our pup with great care. What a sweet person she is and we were lucky to have found her. Thank you again!!!!!!

Thank you so much Nicole, you are the best! We always feel great about leaving Lovely in your care when we take a trip, and this time was no exception! Your write-ups and photos are so thoughtful, and you are so thorough, we can really tell she enjoys your visits! Thank you again!

Jacob is very reliable and made sure my cats were getting the care they needed while I was away. This was my third time booking him and I will always look for him first next time I’m going away. He communicates well and shows care for my cats. One of my cats is very shy when there’s people around but he likes him.

Michelle was so professional and went above and beyond while checking in on my kitties. She was responsive and kept me in the loop when dropping. I appreciated her communication throughout my tip and enjoyed seeing the photos she sent. I highly recommend Michelle for any services you may need and will be using her for any future pet needs!

Stephanie was such a great sitter for our cat, Jojo. We were out of town for almost two weeks, and Stephanie made us feel at ease when she checked in daily with Jojo. Our cat is not the most social or easy cat to deal and Stephanie handled it like a pro. Stephanie was quick to respond and went the extra mile on many occasions. We highly recommend her for watching your pets.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
