“Melissa has become such an important part of our lives. She is so consistent, reliable, kind, lovely, and professional. It's such a gift to turn to her for care for our senior dog.”

About: I’ve cared for animals my whole life, dogs, cats, small pets and I’m known for being calm, patient, and detail-oriented. I specialize in in-home care so your pet stays relaxed in their familiar space. I’m comfortable with seniors, puppies, and anxious or shy pets, and I follow your routines exactly (feeding, meds, potty schedule, exercise). My schedule allows me plenty of time for quality pet care! I’m available most mornings and evenings. I do work part time and have my kids week on week off so between work and kids I make time for pet walks and pet care when I have my kids. When I don't have my kids, I have more available hours and can-do house sitting locally in the placer county area. I take caring for pets in their own home very seriously and always treat your space with respect. I follow your routines exactly ~ meals, walks, meds, and bedtime ~ so your pets feel calm and secure while you’re away. I keep everything tidy, lock up carefully, and provide regular photo updates so you can relax knowing your home and pets are safe and well cared for. My goal is to make your time away completely worry-free.
“Alexandra did a great job housesitting and watching our boys. She sent pictures all that time which we loved and kept us updated on the boys throughout the days. We will definitely rebook with her soon!!”

“Ben took excellent care of my spicy kitten who wanted nothing to do with him. He is a soft spoken gentleman who eventually got her to trust him enough to play with him, even though there were soft hisses of protest when he tried to pet her, she didn’t run away. So if she was truly upset she would have been gone. I’ll have him back for sure to keep an eye on her and her separation anxiety at bay.”

“Makenna has watched our house and dogs multiple times and I highly recommend her! The dogs love her and we know they are well taken care of. She is respectful of our home, and she cleans up after herself so well that you would never know anyone was there.”

About: I have had experience in dog sitting and walking puppies! I have always wanted a dog but just do not have the room for it at home so pet sitting for friends has always been something I have loved doing! Currently, I am working part-time and I am a college student. However, my shifts are never longer than 4 hours. My services are available all week! I make sure to care for pets with as much love as I can! Seeing a stranger come into your home can be daunting so I try to be as graceful as possible when meeting and interacting with the clients pets!
“My dog loves visits with Lez D. I know she is in excellent and kind hands. Lez D goes on walks, gives cuddles and plays with my pup. It eases my mind when I have to go out of town. Thank you so much.”

“We appreciated Brandy’s thoughtful and responsible care for our three babes!! It was clear that they each felt loved, while we were away, and Brandy updated us with any questions or happenings as necessary. We truly felt at ease leaving her in charge with our fur babes and home!! Thank you Brandy!!”

“Alena took excellent care of Nilla. She gave her lots of exercise and love. She followed care directions and checked in frequently with pictures. My house was very clean when I came home. Alena did a fantastic job and Nilla was very well taken care of.”

“Deanna was wonderful!!! Couldn’t recommend her enough. We left for a week and when we got home our dogs were happy as can be, that tells me everything I need to know :) we were sent lots of pictures and they seemed to really enjoy themselves. Would definitely book with her again!!”

“We have never had anyone stay at our house with our animals before, so the idea of leaving them with a complete stranger was very daunting. Sydney was absolutely wonderful with our two big, rambunctious dogs (2 year old huskies) and four cats. Our house was exactly as we left it and she sent lots of updates so we could see everyone’s sweet faces and how much fun they were having without us! She was terrific about updating us when she got here and letting us know how everything was going. She was always very responsive through the whole process, and it was very clear our animals were all comfortable and enjoying their normal routine with her. We will absolutely have Sydney back, and I would 100% recommend her to anyone!”

“Hailey is great! Rocky takes awhile to warm up to new people, but Hailey was great with him and patient. Rocky also has to take seizure medication twice a day, every day and Hailey was able to give him his medication with no issues.”

“Alexis was the best! We would totally recommend and can’t wait to use her again. She was so communicative and really went above and beyond. She sent updates, followed the instructions we left, and even washed and remade the bed before leaving. Brisket loved the snuggles and daily walks.”

About: I have taken care of family friends cats and dogs while they were out of town since I was 8 years old. Growing up I had bunnies and a golden retriever dog. I have over 13 years experience in cats. I have two cats of my own: a senior & a young adult. I have a flexible schedule to visit your fur babies throughout the day to accommodate your schedule as well as keep them company. Can send cat/dog selfie updates while you are away if you would like. I have two cats in my household that don’t do well with other animals. I’m more comfortable staying overnight at your house and treat your home as your sanctuary.
“Our two pups loved Morgan! We are so happy we found her, she took amazing care of our home as well as our dogs. We loved the pictures she sent and how often she checked in with us. Best pet care we have had in a long time. We look forward to having her again soon 💕”

“We were so lucky to have Helen sit for our fur babies while we were away for an extended period. we were very nervous to leave but immediately when we met Helen we knew that they would be in great hands. Helen sent us daily pictures and updates and our entire vacation went off without a hitch. When we returned home, our house was clean and our animals were happy and you could tell they had been loved. In fact, I think they miss Helen quite a bit. We will certainly be using her for all future trips if she is available and we highly recommend her to any family looking for patient loving care for their animals.”

“Bryce was a great dog/house sitter. Chai and Sassy were well cared for and he walked them daily. He also gave Sassy extra walks to burn off some of her energy. We appreciated the daily updates (photos) showing their well being. The dogs seemed contented when we returned home. Bryce arrived on time and kept our house neat and clean. We would definitely hire him again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Whitney
Keira is exceptional! She took such good care of my crew - a very sweet and sassy 4-year-old Golden and two cats - one of whom is very old but a determined girl! She was thoughtful in her care and reached out when she had any questions or concerns. I highly recommend Kiera!!!!
This was our first time using Rover and obviously our first experience with Fallon. She came for the meet and greet in a timely manner and was eager to listen to instructions and friendly. We were only gone for a day but she took great care of our two large dogs during that time. She was flexible with her time and accommodating. We would definitely use her again! Thanks!

Matt is obviously an experienced house and dog sitter. Even when he met our dog, he was clearly a "dog whisperer," because our wild and crazy dog immediately lay down for pets and calmed down. Matt has sent us dog pix each day. He's really chill, and seems very reliable. Highly recommend!

Helen stayed with my senior boxer for a week while we were in Hawaii 💖 she is the absolute best! My girl was cared for loved and happy! Pink, decided to stop eating, then got diarrhoea and puked 🙄 all in Helen’s care…and mostly because she’s so attached to me. Helen readjusted her food and loved her back to healthy, happy and relaxed. Plus she was in constant contact with me and sent pictures. Our house was in perfect order, Pink was taken care of, more than I could have hoped for. Highly recommend 🌺

Hailey did an amazing job of taking care of my cat during a holiday weekend. She was great at communicating with me throughout the booking process and the stay. She sent a good amount of updates and pictures and my cat warmed up to her pretty quickly. I’m always a little nervous about leaving her, but Hailey gave me confidence that she was in good hands!

After our prior sitter cancelled, we were a bit worried about finding a new sitter for our week-long trip. But, from the start, River was great. She bonded quickly with the dogs at the meet and greet and asked a bunch of questions to familiarize herself with their routine and our needs. Throughout her stay, she updated us with photos, asked questions as needed, and overall communicated timely and thoughtfully. We arrived home to a tidy home and well-cared for pets. Thanks, River!

Belinda watched our dog, Winston, for a week and she did a great job. He's a bit anxious and we appreciated how thoughtful and kind she was to him that week. She did a great job to make things as stress-free as possible for him and us! She was super communicative throughout the week with updates which we really appeciated. I will definitely be requesting her services again the next time we go away.

Madeline did a great job helping with our pets. She was very communicative and sent pictures throughout her time with our two dogs. She was flexible with her schedule to fit our needs and did a great job taking care of them. I highly recommend Madeleine and will ask her to take care of our two dogs in the future.

Karyna was requested last minute to care for our dog and was able to accommodate our needs. She is very responsive and communicative while sitting. We were so pleased with her excellent care she took care of our dog making being away from home so much easier for me. We will definitely be booking her again in the near future.

As of September 2026, there are 2,619 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Whitney. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Whitney walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Whitney maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Whitney choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
