I value respecting your boundaries for your pets and your home. I Always make sure your home is safe and secure upon leaving. Prior to booking, a meet and greet is ideal for a harmonious connection with your pet, and to ensure clear guidelines on how I can best care for them. Things I like to know: -a basic idea of your pet's usual schedule for feeding, sleep, and walks, preferably texted or written down so I have a reference to look back to. -vet emergency information, and any neighbor’s number if needed. -your pet's habits, and bad habits: (peeing in the house/biting -any special needs your pet might have. -if your pet has never been sat before as they may act differently in such a situation.
A typical day
With pet care I obviously follow your directions first, but here are some generalities. With cats, I know things are done on their time depending on their mood. So I start by letting the cat smell my hand so they can get more comfortable, and if permitted, offering them a treat. I then check their water and food. Then see if they are in the mood for cuddles or play time with their favorite toys, or if they need food. I know generally cats seem to like to do things in the order of: cuddles, play, food, bathe, alone time. For playtime, I adjust the intensity depending on the cats age. I know that when older cats lose interest in chasing objects they still receive a lot of mental stimulation by watching a toy dancing around. I like to talk a lot to your pet. It makes me feel more connected and engaged with them and they seem to really like it too. I enjoy sitting on the ground with them for cuddles or play if that is something they like. When caring for dogs. I like to greet them with a healthy treat (if allowed) and reciprocate lots of affection if they are very excited. After some loving attention I see if they need a potty break, and check their food and water. On walks I allow dogs to sniff at their leisure. I learned that when they’re smelling the smells it’s like reading a novel. Of course I also move them along faster at times for steady exercise as well. When a dog pulls too hard on a walk, I stop until the dog stops and then we remain walking again. And possibly give them a treat.This really helps the dog understand that I’m in control, incase they want to chase something enticing. We would play catch and/or tug of war, making adjustments on intensity, depending on the dogs age and needs.

Pet care experience
I’ve been taking care of cats for 35 years. Growing up, we always had at least 2-4 cats as pets. Some were rescues and some adopted us. I’ve been Pet sitting other people’s cats and dogs, and house sitting since 2013. I’m open to caring for other animal species, though I don’t have experience with them. The reason why I joined Rover to become a pet sitter is because I know how stressful it can feel to leave your dear family member at home with a new person, and I wanted to provide an the experience for others that I wanted for myself. I find pet sitting very fulfilling because I strive to not only care for your pet but also ensure they are loved. Cats have always had a special place in my heart. I am also very grateful for the experience of helping pet owners feel safe and at ease while they are out of town. Pet sitting in house sitting is such a fun way to be of service. How I care for my own pet My current kitty and family member is Buddy (King Buddy his Royal Sweetness). I’ve had him since 2020. I’m unsure of his age because he was a rescue. I provide him a nourishing environment with his special rugs, and hiding places. I make him a fort cave in the bed everyday. We have Lots of play time and he has a big backyard to play and sunbathe. He gets Plenty of cuddles throughout the day, and I feed him a high quality diet. I strive to understand his behaviors and communications to the best of my abilities. Through research, close attention, and noticing patterns, I feel confident in understanding his needs in the moment and why he behaves the way he does. I’m interested and open minded to finding ways I can make his life even more enjoyable.

Nicole is amazing! Rocky is very shy meeting new people, but he warmed up to Nicole on the first visit. She was patient with him; she gave him the space he needed to get used to her being there and she spoke to him in a kind and gentle voice. He eventually came up to her and let her know he needed to go outside. I'm so happy with this decision and it has eliminated so much stress. It's such a piece of mind having someone so amazing help look after my boy.
