“Melissa is a thoughtful and caring dog-sitter. She told me she loves dogs and it show in all her actions when she dog sat my labradoodle. She read him very well and met his emotional needs.”

“Elvia is the best! Our dachshund loves her and so do we. Super reliable and takes such good care of our pup. We’ve used Elvia for both daytime and overnights and would highly recommend!”

“Judy was amazing!! Very patient, detail oriented, and accommodating. I would book her again and recommend to other dog parents in a heartbeat! She even gave my pup Tux a bath and his coat was incredibly soft and fluffy!”

“My dog's stay was very much how Hunter described the care he provides on his bio on Rover. Active and engaging is what I was looking for and that is what my dog received. So much so that I have rebooked with Hunter Christmas. You can't go wrong with Hunter.”
About: Except for college, I have spent my life looking after and caring for dogs and cats. My wife and I are retired, 68 years old, been living in a four acre home in New Canaan, Ct. for 34 years, miss the three Australian Shepherds we raised, but now want to travel. Our best option we think is to bring in a boarder for companionship. Both of us are now retired, living at home full time. Our three Australian Shepherds have now passed. They loved the four acres we have to run, and the four thousand square foot home for comfort. We have a working invisible fence if your dog is comfortable with that, if not, plenty of space for walking, a fenced pool, and we belong to the Country Club of New Canaan for great winter runs. We have four acres of lawn for your dog to run, and our plan is to board only one dog per visit, unless your family owns another. This is the best way to keep your dog healthy, happy, and safe. That and we live in a no outlet quiet street, with years of experience keeping dogs safe.
“Our dog Remy had a wonderful time with Yi Jia and her dogs! We are new to the region and Yi Jia made us feel comfortable by walking us through her property / house where Remy would be staying and that gave us a lot of peace of mind. She sent us a lot of pics of Remy playing with her dogs and kept us informed throughout the stay. Remy had an incredible time with her and the dogs and cannot wait to go back!”

“Katie had the best, most nurturing and relaxing experience! When I picked Katie up I could tell she felt secure. Katie can have separation anxiety but she was handled perfectly (walks, pets, a nap). I received lots of pictures and texts so I was comfortable too.”

“THANK YOU WENDY!!!! For taking such good care of my Zoey. Wendy is an great dog sitter. She was so attentive to Zoe. I loved how she took Zoe on walks and sent me pictures and or videos. Zoe was happy every day that she was with Wendy😁 Again, I say thank you!!!”

“Amazing experience end to end- received pictures and news every day and felt Lola was extremely well taken care of in a home environment. Very grateful for the piece of mind!!!”

“Rocco and I had a pre event meet and greet with Nicole which went great. Nicole has a wonderful fenced back yard which is set up for her dogs and guests. Rocco was immediately comfortable and explored the yard with Nicole’s other dogs. Nicole herself is very knowledgeable about dogs and sensitive to their needs. I dropped Rocco off for an unexpected stay and received updates from Nicole twice a day. Apparently Nicole’s home is over night camp for dogs. Rocco came back happy but tired. (Not unlike my kids when they were young). I would recommend Nicole without hesitation.”

“Eva was the prefect match for my Teddy very warm and caring. Always sent videos with his tail wagging, which means he was happy and that what matters the most. Definitely would recommend Eva to friends and family, she's going to be my #1 for when I have to travel in the future 😁😁”

“Jay was so communicative and easy to work with, responding to a request with relatively short notice, and he took loving care of my elderly chihuahua when I was away for a week. Thank you Jay!”

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by pets and have always loved animals. I’m currently a proud dog and cat owner, so I understand how much our pets mean to us and how important it is to have someone trustworthy care for them. I offer dog walking and drop-in visits for dogs, cats, and other pets. I’m responsible, dependable, and attentive, and I’ll make sure your pet gets the care, attention, exercise, and affection they need while you’re away. I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine and will treat your animals like they’re my own. I’m a single stay at home mom, so I have lots of time to care for and walk your beloved pets ! I drop my kids at school in the mornings and pick them up in the afternoon, so my availability is very flexible ! I’ve loved and cared for pets my whole life! I grew up with dogs, cats, and just about every caged animal you can think of. I currently have a 3-year-old Maltipoo and a 5-year-old cat, so I understand how much our pets mean to us!
“Ryan EXCEEDED my expectations! He has an intuitive way with dogs. He is very knowledgable about dogs & dog behavior. Ryan is the real deal-- a true animal lover & kind, decent human being. He communicated well with pics and updates during my dog's visit. During our initial meeting I felt an instant rapport he had with my dog that put me at ease. His home is VERY dog-centric! The visiting dogs are not confined and are free to mingle and find their own place to relax. There are ample dog beds, couches, human beds and floor space for lounging and sleeping. I especially appreciate that Ryan limits the number of dogs he boards at one time to a very small group, & makes sure they vibe well together beforehand. The living space Ryan and his boarders occupy is all on one level, which is great for my dog with arthritis. There is a wooded trail for walks adjoining the yard, and a guest bedroom if a dog needs some quiet alone time. I would HIGHLY recommend Ryan and I plan to use him again!”

“Alondra and her family were the best! This was the first time I used Rover or any pet sitting service for my pups and I’m really glad I found Alondra. My peanuts had a blast with her and the other dogs, and she really put me at ease when I was out of town, especially with the daily updates of both pictures and fun videos. Thanks so much, Alondra and to your family! If ever I need to be out of town for a long time, I’ll know who to contact.”

Rusudan and her entire family were great with our dog Sammy. They took amazing care of him and gave him lots of love and attention. Rusudan was also great with sending photos and very responsive to my texts so I did not need to worry about Sammy while we were away. I highly recommend Rusudan and will be happy to have them take care of Sammy the next time we are away!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
