About: I've worked as a dog bather at two different dog grooming salons, where I gained experience handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments. My partner and I have also owned and cared for pets our whole life—we have 5 cats and regularly dog sit our family members' dogs. My partner and I work well as a team to make sure every pet gets plenty of love, attention, and the best care possible. We also have experience working in the cleaning industry, so we understand the importance of keeping spaces safe, clean, and comfortable for animals. We currently have a very open and flexible schedule, which allows us to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day. We take a daily run and would be happy to bring an energetic dog along if it’s something they’re comfortable with. We also go to the gym each evening from 8–10 PM, but outside of that we are home and available. Because of our flexible routine, we can provide frequent potty breaks, playtime, walks, feeding, and lots of love and attention to make sure your pet feels comfortable and cared for while you’re away, at work, or just need a break for the day. Your pet’s safety and comfort are our top priorities. We provide a clean, calm, and loving environment where pets can feel at home. We have experience caring for both dogs and cats and currently have 5 cats of our own, so we’re very familiar with daily pet care routines. We follow each pet owner’s instructions closely regarding feeding, walks, medications, and special needs. With our flexible schedule, we’re able to provide frequent potty breaks, exercise, playtime, and plenty of attention to ensure every pet feels safe, happy, and well cared for.
About: Except for college, I have spent my life looking after and caring for dogs and cats. My wife and I are retired, 68 years old, been living in a four acre home in New Canaan, Ct. for 34 years, miss the three Australian Shepherds we raised, but now want to travel. Our best option we think is to bring in a boarder for companionship. Both of us are now retired, living at home full time. Our three Australian Shepherds have now passed. They loved the four acres we have to run, and the four thousand square foot home for comfort. We have a working invisible fence if your dog is comfortable with that, if not, plenty of space for walking, a fenced pool, and we belong to the Country Club of New Canaan for great winter runs. We have four acres of lawn for your dog to run, and our plan is to board only one dog per visit, unless your family owns another. This is the best way to keep your dog healthy, happy, and safe. That and we live in a no outlet quiet street, with years of experience keeping dogs safe.
“Irene was awesome, very good vibes, a peaceful home setting & my Shih Tzu loved staying with her, playing in her big enclosed yard & going on walks with her, etc. while we were on our family cruise. My fur baby was in good hands with her & I'll definitely board her with Irene the next time we go away!”

“Great Boarding experience - Our two 8 year old golden retrievers boarded with Kevin and Ana for 11 days. After a successful meet and greet followed by a doggy daycare visit to acclimatize our dogs to Kevin and Ana and their dogs, we opted for the pick up and drop off service to make the separation process less stressful for our dogs. Kevin asked thoughtful questions about the contingent medication during pickup. Straight away we could tell from the videos after their arrival at Kevin and Ana's house that our dogs were more relaxed vs. the initial daycare visit. Kevin and Ana provided video and updates of our dogs during their stay. The best endorsement of Kevin as a boarding host was provided by one of our dogs at drop off time. After cheerily greeting us, she kept returning to Kevin for more attention as we chatted, clearly signaling a top-level canine approval rating.”

“Karine, Ryan and Misu are the best! If you want your dog to be treated like family while you are away and not worry at all, they are the ones to call. I am an overprotective dog mom and my little guy is super attached to us, but miraculously he warmed up to Karine right away. He ate well, played, went out for lots of walks, got along great with Misu and was so well-adjusted while we were out of the country. I could not have asked for a better experience and give Karine my highest recommendations. She also sent me a lot of wonderful photos, so I always knew what activities Chewie was up to each day. 5 stars!!!”

“Stefanie was amazing - kind, patient and understanding with our anxious pup's first boarding experience ever, and a great communicator. She and her human and four legged family members welcomed our pup with open arms and helped put our mind at ease that our pup was in great hands. Would definitely recommend and we'd definitely book with her again!!”

“Ashley was awesome with Spence! She watched him overnight and took such great care of him. The photo updates she sent were the best and totally put our minds at ease while we were away. It was so nice to see him looking relaxed and completely at home with her. Everything went so smoothly from drop-off to pick-up. We’ll definitely be booking her again and highly recommend her to anyone!”

“Monika and her family were wonderful to my little dog. We left him in her care for a week. Everyday I got updates on him with photos. He alwasys looked so happy. She was so sweet to him and to us. It made our vacation enjoyable knowing that he was in such good hands!”

“Dew was wonderful! Our sweet girl can be nervous and uneasy in new situations and Dew was endlessly patient and warm putting her at ease while she was staying with her. Dew sent pictures adn updates to keep us in the loop and was super quick in responding to any questions we had! I would absolutely recommend her and hope to have her pet sit Sankaty for us again!”

“Excellent. Will hire Ariel again. Pleasant and capable, she followed all care instructions to a tee for my 17 yr old dog. Responsive to all communications and kept me up to date on his well being, which I'm skitzo about because of his age.”

“Charlotte was amazing with our shih tzu, Noodle, and really came through for us when we had a last minute weekend getaway and needed a dogsitter. She was super communicative, responsive and easy to coordinate drop off/pick up with. Will definitely book her in the future!”

“Katie had the best, most nurturing and relaxing experience! When I picked Katie up I could tell she felt secure. Katie can have separation anxiety but she was handled perfectly (walks, pets, a nap). I received lots of pictures and texts so I was comfortable too.”

“Jackie was delightful to work with! She was communicative about how our dogs were doing and sent pictures. I felt that my dogs were in great hands and it made my weekend at a family event that much more relaxing. Jackie is A+++!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
