About: I have cared for dogs my entire life and have experience with dogs of different ages and needs. I am dependable, attentive, and passionate about animal care. I enjoy spending time with dogs and ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I currently work from home so I have a lot of free time. Why not spend time with furry friends! It’s also a great opportunity to take a breather and get fresh air during daily dog walks. When caring for pets in a client's home, I ensure that their daily routines are maintained to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I also make sure the home remains clean and secure while providing pets with plenty of attention, affection, and companionship. I am attentive to each pet's individual needs and committed to creating a safe, loving environment while their owners are away.

Pam was so great with our two kitties while we were away. She was on time every day and we truly appreciated the extra steps she took like vacuuming and offering to take out the trash. Would definitely book again. Thanks!

About: Fair warning: Pets are a little spoiled in my house! 😊 I've cared for animals my entire life and have experience with pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. I've cared for my own senior dog throughout her final years, large and small breed dogs, rescue kittens, and adult cats, including raising my own two cats since they were kittens. I've trained all of my own pets and understand the importance of consistency. If your pet has specific routines, commands, or training practices you'd like maintained, I'm happy to follow them closely so their progress and structure continue seamlessly while they're in my care. I have a genuine soft spot for animals, and every pet in my care receives the highest quality treatment. Whether your furry friend enjoys treats, walks, playtime, or cuddles, they'll receive plenty of love, attention, and personalized care and are sure to have a great time while you're away. The day is dedicated to taking care of the fur babies. I'm available 7 days for check-ins, walks, home visits, and boarding. Let's connect and set up a time! My home is a relaxed space for cats or dogs to roam freely. My community offers a fenced in dog park and in my unit I have plenty of vertical space for your cat to rule over, including 2 cat towers and plenty of enrichment toys. I also have a catio on my balcony for some fresh air. If needed, I will separate my cats from more reactive animals while in my care.

About: I’ve been taking care of pets since I was 11 (various animals, and breeds)! I’ve grown up with dogs and I’ve always had multiple in my home. I have experience taking care of guinea pigs, cats, dogs, fish, but specifically puppies, and senior dogs. I am a college student that’s working part-time over the summer. However, my day-to-day schedule is extremely flexible and I am at home for a majority of my workday. I have a large backyard that is fenced in, and a very mellow old lab who can either keep your pet company or be crated if needed!

About: A little about me… I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and have experience with pets of all sizes and temperaments. I grew up with larger breeds like Boxers and now have two English Cocker Spaniels, along with my mom’s corgis! I’ve cared for even small animals like bunnies! I started pet sitting at 12 and have continued ever since, so I’m very comfortable reading animal behavior and understanding their individual needs. I know that every pet is different, some need frequent walks and bathroom breaks (like my small doggies!), while others prefer a more relaxed routine, and I’m attentive to those differences. Having grown up in New Canaan, I’m familiar with the area and the types of routines and care local pet owners expect. Whether your dog needs long walks, structured care, or just some extra attention while you’re away. Happy to discuss with you what your pet needs are! I work from home, which allows me to be very flexible and attentive throughout the day. Your pet won’t be left alone for long stretches, and I’m able to provide consistent supervision, bathroom breaks, and attention as needed. I especially love caring for puppies and more active dogs. I’m happy spending time walking in the morning, mid day, and evening to ensure they stay active! I prioritize creating a safe, calm, and trustworthy environment for every pet in my care. I pay close attention to each animal’s routine, behavior, and comfort level to make sure they feel secure while you’re away. I’m experienced with pets of all sizes and understand the importance of things like proper leashing, secure doors and gates, and supervised play at all times.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life and feel more comfortable around them than I do most humans. I can handle big dogs—I’ve had midsized dogs my whole life, but I’m a big guy myself and have experience with bernese mountain dogs. I also have two dogs at the moment, and can handle zone coverage if necessary! I’m very loving of dogs with any conditions or special circumstances, and will be very respectful of any instructions or boundaries. I’m home from college for the summer. I work from home on my own schedule, so I can basically do whatever is easiest for the dog/family with enough notice. I keep my dogs really active! Walks, car rides, three meals a day, tug of war, fetch, treat training. I find it all very fun so none of it feels like a chore!

Right now I have 3 small dogs( all were adopted), one is a senior and one is handicapped. They go out for walks at least 30 min per day in the parks, and I groom them myself. We trained them well and they dont beg by the table, they dont bark for no reasons, and they are well socialized. I am so grateful for able to take care them. One of the dog is 15 years old she got adopted by us at age 7, she came with anxiety issues. we retrained her to relieve herself outdoor, she learned fast, and she was rehabilitated into a wonderful, fun, loving dog. The handicapped one has a birth defects but he is the sweetest dog I ever owned, he is well behaved and very smart. I want to pour more time into taking care of these amazing pets, they are not just dogs, they are our family, companions and true friends I work as arts and craft teacher at elementry school (5 hours per week). I also teach 3 hours per week at the YMCA. I have ample time to take care of the dogs. At my home the dogs are being monitored with servalliace camera. I let them out every 2 -4 hours during the day if I am home. Our yard is fenced. They get 2 meals a day. some treats. I follow clients instruction on taking care of dogs.

Wendy Johanna was really great watching our dog for a few days! Our dog is usually anxious and timid with new people but she seemed to warm up to Wendy quickly. Wendy was great at communicating with us and sending lots of updates, photos and videos that really helped us relax knowing our dog was being looked after. I’d definitely recommend Wendy and will use her again in the future! 🐶

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a New Canaan stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Canaan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.

To find sitters in New Canaan with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in New Canaan. On Rover:

  • 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
