“Elizabeth and Stephen took such great care of our Stella. They communicated often while we were away and sent some of the cutest pics. We will definitely be repeat customers!”

“Sydney is amazing!!! We have two high energy / high anxiety Boston Terriers and two very social cats - she was great with all of them! She sent adorable pictures, checked in often, sent lots of updates. The dogs clearly had a good time, the house is exactly as we left it, she was prompt, professional, and kind... Literally all the things you are looking for when you're leaving your pets home with someone for days. We'll definitely book her again any time we need someone to stay at the house!!”

“Sara is a fantastic cat sitter! She is absolutely a "cat whisperer" and we highly recommend her services if you have a finicky or neurotic wee beastie who needs that little bit of extra attention and care.”

“Highly recommend Maddie! She was fantastic with my elderly dog, Oliver, who has separation anxiety. During our initial visit, she was wonderful with him and asked detailed questions to understand his needs. Throughout my entire work trip, Maddie was highly communicative and sent regular photo updates, giving me total peace of mind. I returned to a clean house and a very comfortable, happy dog. It is rare to find someone who provides this level of specialized care, patience, and affection. I will absolutely use Maddie again!”

“Amy was absolutely wonderful with our dogs! From the moment we left, we felt completely comfortable knowing they were in her care. She sent great daily updates and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind and let us see how happy and relaxed they were. One of our dogs is a bit skittish and can take time to warm up to new people, but Amy truly worked her magic — by the end, our pup loved her! It was clear she was patient, attentive, and genuinely caring with both of them. We are so grateful and will definitely be using Amy again. Highly recommend! 🐾”

About: I have 10+ years of experience working in the pet-care industry. I have worked both full time and part time as a pet sitter/dog walker. I have familiarity with a large number of breeds and personalities. It doesn't matter if you have multiple animals in your home needing care, or just one. I am currently full time for pet sitting and/or dog walking and available days or nights, including weekends. Mornings, midday, evening, and late night. I will meet with you prior to caring for your pets to go over their routine and care so we are able to keep the same schedule while you are away. The goal is limit stress for both you and your pet during the separation.
“Sophia was flexible with my last-minute drop-in, and I appreciate the time she spent with my cat, who doesn't like to be alone. She was very friendly and made me feel comfortable letting her into my home. I would definitely hire her again!”

“Jay stayed with my dog Lucy while I went on a business trip across the country and she was so wonderful with my sweet old girl. She was very curious about Lucy’s needs and communicated with me and shared some pictures along the way. I came home to a happy dog and I’m so grateful to Jay for taking such good care of her!”

“Hannah has watched our pets a couple times and does a great job! She is responsible and communicates well. It’s such a relief to know our babies are in good hands when we are away.”

“Renee was great, checking in with questions when needed. One of my dogs is more needy and she let me know so I could offer suggestions. I've invited her to come back and she said yes, so that's a good sign!”

“Christina was absolutely phenomenal and provided simply superior in-home dog care when we went away on a week vacation out of town. She is attentive, responsible, amazing with our dogs, and provided daily updates on our pups that we so appreciated! I cannot recommend her enough!”

“Celine was always quick with communication from beginning to end. She stayed with our two crazy pups, one who can be a handful. She shared pictures, followed their routines, and let our puppy sleep under the covers with her in bed!”

“Sarah was amazing! She was available for a last minute booking with Athena and stayed at our house. Her communication was prompt, and we felt at ease on our trip knowing Athena was well taken care of. Will definitely reach out for future trips!”

“I cannot recommend Ryan highly enough! Leaving my high-needs, anxious dog for a work trip is always a source of stress, but Ryan completely put my mind at ease. From our initial meet-and-greet, it was clear that Ryan is not only a true animal lover but also incredibly knowledgeable and patient. My dog requires a lot of extra attention and can be quite nervous with new people, but Ryan handled him with such a calm and confident demeanor. I received regular updates, including photos that showed my dog was not just being cared for, but was comfortable in Ryan's hands. This consistent communication was invaluable and allowed me to focus on my work knowing Oliver was okay. Ryan went above and beyond to alleviate his anxiety and let him have the space he need to feel comfortable. I returned home to a happy, relaxed dog, which is the best indicator of the excellent care he received. In addition, the house was spotless which is always nice to return home too. If you're looking for a pet sitter who is reliable, compassionate, and truly understands how to care for anxious or high-needs pets, Ryan is absolutely the one to choose.”

“Sarah was excellent at taking care of Sesame and Bob. I felt at ease knowing they were under her care while I was away. She gave constant updates and took photos of the dogs so that I know they were doing good. Thanks so much for taking good care of them!”

About: Animals have always been the center of my world, from growing up with pets to pet-sitting countless dogs and cats across NYC. My two cats, August and Ivy, are the absolute loves of my life - My goal is simple: to provide your beloved pets with the exact same high standard of care, safety, and affection that my own two companions receive at home. I work in the office 3 days a week, but I have an hour for lunch and live only 7 min from my office. If close enough I will be able to check in midday as well as morning and after work. I have a fenced yard, though my cats are indoor only I have taken care of my neighbors dogs and enjoy playing fletch for round after round after round. I am organized and will have notes based on what you need for each drop in, will supply pictures, be there on time and stay the whole time. Having used rover myself I know how integral these things are!
“Bret accepted our short notice booking and stopped by for a meet & greet before we headed out for a weekend trip, which was great. Our pets are currently pretty low maintenance but it was important for us to have someone stay the weekend while we had some R&R. We’d have Bret back on a future vacation.”
About: My life has been filled with the joy of both dogs and cats. As a child, I grew up with Collies and adopted my first cat in college. In my adult life, my husband and I have raised a black lab/golden retriever, three Great Pyrenees and five cats. Our current household is with our beloved 14 year old Great Pyrenees, Dolly and our two cats, Licorice and Ken. My love and care for my own pets is something that I would like to offer now to others. I am a dedicated pet owner and enjoy taking my own dog for daily walks every day, and enjoy spending quality time with my indoor cats. I am comfortable with all breeds, sizes and ages of both dogs and cats and would love to offer my love and care to your fur babies! I currently work during the day at an elementary school, Monday - Friday. My availability during the week is limited to afternoon/evenings. During the summer months (starting in later June), my schedule opens up to morning, afternoon and evenings. Weekends, I am typically available morning, afternoon and evenings. I will try to be as flexible as I can be to work with your schedule! I will provide all the loving care to your pets in your that I provide to my own pets in my home. I look forward to getting to know them, to earn their trust, and to meet their needs - through exercise, playtime, feeding, cleaning, and most importantly, lots of love!

I’m so grateful that we found Lyndsey. She was beyond kind to our animals, including our eight month old puppy who is still learning his way along and needs a lot of patience! She came over before the visit to get to know everyone and asked great, thoughtful questions, and during the visit she sent regular detailed updates and great photos. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Jay took great care of our house and our girl, Winnie, while we were on vacation. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for pet care and housesitting services! Jay was prompt, easy to reach, followed Winnie’s daily routines, and provided thoughtful updates and photos.

Goldie house-sat for me for two nights and watched my dog Zoey. Her calm demeanor was great for my dog who gets a little anxious with change. She sent updates regularly and followed Zoey’s routine. I had peace of mind knowing she was in Goldie’s care and was able to enjoy my time away. Goldie was respectful of the space and left the apartment looking clean. Highly recommend her for any pet care needs!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Westbrook walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Westbrook maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Westbrook choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
