Lori did a wonderful job taking care of my dog Harley at my home over 4th of July weekend. Harley is a quirky girl who is full of personality. Lori showed so much patience and love to Harley, she really put my mind at ease. I wouldn't hesitate to have Lori watch Harley again.

About: I’ve taken care of pets of all kinds since I was little and worked at a doggy daycare for 3 years! I have a lot of experience with: • Understanding canine behavior • Dog walking • Off-Leash Trail Adventures • In-Home Pet Sitting • Drop In’s • Med Management and Administration • Grooming (Baths, nail trims, ear cleaning.) I’m free and flexible to dog walk Monday-Friday and willing to pick up some walking on the weekends when available! Animal care is a passion of mine and I’d love to do it full time! I’m confident managing different temperaments, energy levels, and feeding routines. I’m very detail oriented and will follow all care instructions closely to make sure your best friend is happy and healthy. I’m also always providing regular updates and pictures so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away! :)

I cannot leave a good enough review for Julie. If you are looking for a house sitter, animal lover, someone to hang out with your crew she is exactly who you were looking for. Everyone was happy and well cared for when we got home and Julie was so flexible with us as we had difficult flight cancellations and change of plans during travel. Cannot recommend enough. 10 out of 10.

About: I have grown up working closely with shelters and fostering elderly dogs with my mom. My family have even had our own litter of puppies from birth through adoption. My family then started fostering pregnant cats and raising the kittens until they were ready for adoption. I have my own cat with a slew of medical problems and have no issues administering medications. Please let me know what I can do to fit your pet needs! I’m currently working full time as an accountant and have the option of working from home. This allows me to be flexible with where I work and allows for frequent walks! I have my own dog and cat at home and always make sure they are well fed and well-entertained throughout day! Cuddles at night are always a must and heavily encouraged.

Rachael was absolutely wonderful caring for our dogs! We have a senior dog with extra needs as well as a younger, very energetic dog, and Rachael provided dependable, loving care to both. We received updates and photos while we were away, and Rachael kept us well informed with how our pups were doing. She also was very responsible in our home, and left things in even better shape than before she arrived. We would highly recommend Rachael to others, and will certainly be reaching out to her again as future dog sitting needs arise.

Elizabeth was an exceptional house sitter for our standard poodle, Paddy. He is a big dog and quite excitable. She handled him very well (we saw the photos) and he seemed vey content with her. She followed all our directions for his care including giving medication twice daily. He was very calm, brushed and stress-free when we arrived home. She left our home cleaner than we left it, laundered her sheets and towels and even cooked delicious quiche-like creations is several varieties for our lunches! We would highly recommend Elizabeth.

About: I've been passionate about pets for decades. Although it's fun to walk and play with a furry friend, I also have experience caring for sick and older pets that may require extra attention and medication. Making sure my pets are well cared for is a top priority. After many years in education I have retired and now do volunteer work part time. My flexible schedule leaves plenty of time to care for your pet. I have a friendly small dog at home that will keep your pet company when you are away. I live near the ocean so dogs in my care go for long walks on the beach.

About: I grew up with fur siblings! I have also been trusted by family and friends to watch over their dogs from anywhere between one day and two weeks at a time. I work full time, 8hr shifts at the Maine Mall. The latest I would be at work is 7:30pm. I start and end my day with 45 minute walks. I always keep dogs on leash, unless the yard is fully fenced. I try my best to stick to the pups normal schedule. I also enjoy staying up on basic training commands while making it fun for your pup.

I have had many sitters for my dogs, who aren't exactly easy. They are on a special diet, and take meds. They bark at everything. But Julie always takes care of them and my house so well. I can go away and never need to worry. I have hired her about half a dozen times now. Won't hire anyone else.

I used Rover for the very first time and found a gem in Sparrow. They met with me ahead of time, as my 12 yr old Westie has meds both morning and night and anxiety issues. Honestly, Sparrow’s communication with me was stellar. Fiona stopped eating the first morning I was gone (Westitude and a nervous Nellie!) and Sparrow immediately texted me. Their concern was very reassuring, and once Fiona figured that she was in caring hands, the rest of their stay went smoothly. Sparrow stayed overnight in my home for 6 days, and I returned to an immaculate home. I would not hesitate to have Sparrow doggy sit for Fiona in the future. They get a 10 on a scale of 1-5!!!!!

We cannot say enough good things about Ryan and David. They went above and beyond for our little senior girl while we were away. We were worried about leaving her, but Ryan put us at ease immediately, and we could see how comfortable Maggie felt too. Ryan kept us updated with photos and texts, kept Maggie comfy with treats like a heat pad and walks in the front pack, and even went the extra mile and stayed another night to be with Maggie when our flight home was canceled. Ryan is so kind and we won’t look anywhere else for our dogs.

Heather did such a great job at our house while we were away on an international trip. She sent photo updates and was always prompt to respond if we checked in with how things were going. She was very understanding of our dogs specific breed and we felt very at ease leaving him and our cat and chickens in her care. They seemed to have a great time with her and we came home to a very clean house which was lovely! This was our first time using an in home pet sitter and we would highly recommend Heather and her services!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Old Orchard Beach on Rover is $66.6 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 627 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Old Orchard Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Old Orchard Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Old Orchard Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Old Orchard Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Old Orchard Beach. On Rover:

  • 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
