“Renee was great, checking in with questions when needed. One of my dogs is more needy and she let me know so I could offer suggestions. I've invited her to come back and she said yes, so that's a good sign!”

“Sergey was terrific! He came by to meet our dog before the pet sitting appointment and was very patient and caring. He was on time and dependable. If we visit Portland again we will definitely ask for him to pet sit our dog again.”

About: I’ve taken care of pets of all kinds since I was little and worked at a doggy daycare for 3 years! I have a lot of experience with: • Understanding canine behavior • Dog walking • Off-Leash Trail Adventures • In-Home Pet Sitting • Drop In’s • Med Management and Administration • Grooming (Baths, nail trims, ear cleaning.) I’m free and flexible to dog walk Monday-Friday and willing to pick up some walking on the weekends when available! Animal care is a passion of mine and I’d love to do it full time! I’m confident managing different temperaments, energy levels, and feeding routines. I’m very detail oriented and will follow all care instructions closely to make sure your best friend is happy and healthy. I’m also always providing regular updates and pictures so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away! :)
“Jade was awesome with our dog Honey Bee! She met up with us beforehand so everyone could get acquainted, which made leaving for the weekend way less stressful. She took Honeybee on two long walks a day and sent us a ton of pictures. We always knew exactly how she was doing. We’d absolutely book her again.”
“I cannot leave a good enough review for Julie. If you are looking for a house sitter, animal lover, someone to hang out with your crew she is exactly who you were looking for. Everyone was happy and well cared for when we got home and Julie was so flexible with us as we had difficult flight cancellations and change of plans during travel. Cannot recommend enough. 10 out of 10.”

“Marissa was fantastic! I will definitely use her again! My girls fell in love with her, and one likes to test people to see if she can gain control and run the house. Marissa was firm in who was in control, but loving to jot hurt feelings. She provided regular updates and together we got through some tummy issues to make it where I got back home. The house kitties, who were not part of her duties other than to accept snuggles, adored her as well. At one point she was surrounded by 2 dogs and 2 kitties touching her at once! When we got back, as excited as my dogs were to see me, they also looked around me to see if Marissa was there. My animals tell me all I need to know about a person, abd they adore her. Your pets will too!”

“I highly recommend John! He asked questions to clarify my dogs needs, sent regular updates and even shared photos. His attentiveness allowed me to enjoy my few days out of town without worrying about my 2 senior dogs.”

“Meghan was a great dog sitter for my two pups! She maintained communication throughout, was always punctual, and showed great flexibility. Most importantly, she was incredibly kind and caring toward my dogs. I recommend her for anyone looking for a reliable and compassionate sitter!”

“Amy was amazing!! Sent so many pictures and had such good communication the entire time I was away. I know Poppy was so loved! Oh, and she was a great guest at my place, left it so clean and put together! Thank you Amy!!”

“Rachael was loved immediately by my pup! She helped me in a pinch last minute when I needed overnight care. She is kind, punctual, sent me updates & stayed in touch. It’s really nice to not have to reach out about your pet, and to already have updates and photos when you check your phone!!! Delilah and I look forward to working with you again. 😊”

“We would absolutely book Kayla again! She was incredibly communicative throughout, and from the photos she sent, it was clear our dog was happy and comfortable with her—his wagging tail said it all. Since he's not typically used to being around others, we were thrilled with how well he settled in. Kayla was also very accommodating to all of our requests. Thank you, Kayla!”

“Returned home after a weekend away to two very happy, well cared for dogs. Celine provides multiple updates per day, sending cute pics and videos of our pups playing. Very grateful for Céline!”

“Lynne was amazing! She stayed at our house in July while we were traveling for a week. This was the first time for us to leave our puppy overnight, so needless to say, we were a bit worried about how our 13-month-old pup would do without us. Lynne immediately put both the dog and us at ease. Throughout the week, she sent us pictures and quick updates. We met up with Lynne again a few days after our trip and the dog was super happy to see her. We will definitely reach out to her again when we need somebody to watch our dog.”

About: I have been pet and house sitting for 15 +years. I have worked with all different types of breeds of dogs, as well as the those with medical needs, and special diets. I have 4 dogs of my own, ranging from 3 years - 8 years. The smallest being a silly frenchie and the largest is a malinois. I am currently working from home part time and I am available after 10am everyday to come walk the dogos or whatever you might need. We have a tiny fenced in farm at our house to keep all of our dogs and other animals safe. But if staying at a clients home all safety protocol would be followed to their standards.
“Brook is AMAZING! Super sweet, great communication and she took the BEST care of my sweet kitty Lily, who loved her! Brook will be our go-to from now on — so grateful to her!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gorham
We had a great experience with Marissa! She stayed with our dog Odin for four nights and was responsible, respectful, and easy to work with throughout. It was clear she took the job seriously and treated our home and our pup with real care. Odin was happy and well looked after when we got back, and we felt at ease the whole time we were away. We would definitely recommend Marissa to anyone looking for a reliable dog sitter and will be using her again.

I’m so grateful that we found Lyndsey. She was beyond kind to our animals, including our eight month old puppy who is still learning his way along and needs a lot of patience! She came over before the visit to get to know everyone and asked great, thoughtful questions, and during the visit she sent regular detailed updates and great photos. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Christina stayed in our home with our nervous and anxious dog for about 5 days and made us feel comfortable with check-ins and pictures. Christina is kind and you can tell she really loves your pet as though they were hers. We were flying home and Christina stayed with our dog a hour longer than we asked, so she didn’t have to be alone for too long. So kind! Christina left our house in great condition, you wouldn’t even know she had been there. I would have Christina pet sit again and highly recommend her!

Kim was great! Ended up with a massive snowstorm towards the end of the trip that delayed me getting home and she was amazing with communication and stayed late beyond the agreed upon time when it became clear that was I going to arrive home several hours later than expected. Sent daily updates with photos.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gorham walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gorham maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gorham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gorham. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
