“Sara is a fantastic cat sitter! She is absolutely a "cat whisperer" and we highly recommend her services if you have a finicky or neurotic wee beastie who needs that little bit of extra attention and care.”

“Elizabeth was an exceptional house sitter for our standard poodle, Paddy. He is a big dog and quite excitable. She handled him very well (we saw the photos) and he seemed vey content with her. She followed all our directions for his care including giving medication twice daily. He was very calm, brushed and stress-free when we arrived home. She left our home cleaner than we left it, laundered her sheets and towels and even cooked delicious quiche-like creations is several varieties for our lunches! We would highly recommend Elizabeth.”

“Once again I was relieved and felt confident that my dog Walter was in good hands while I was away on vacation. Walter can be anxious with different people, but Amanda knows how to handle him. I definitely plan to use Amanda's services again in the future.”

“Sergey is a wonderful, kind man and took excellent care of our home and pets while we were out of town. Our cat needs a pill and a inhaler and he was completely unbothered. Will absolutely book with him again.”

“Renee was great, checking in with questions when needed. One of my dogs is more needy and she let me know so I could offer suggestions. I've invited her to come back and she said yes, so that's a good sign!”

“Sydney is amazing!!! We have two high energy / high anxiety Boston Terriers and two very social cats - she was great with all of them! She sent adorable pictures, checked in often, sent lots of updates. The dogs clearly had a good time, the house is exactly as we left it, she was prompt, professional, and kind... Literally all the things you are looking for when you're leaving your pets home with someone for days. We'll definitely book her again any time we need someone to stay at the house!!”

About: I grew up with fur siblings! I have also been trusted by family and friends to watch over their dogs from anywhere between one day and two weeks at a time. I work full time, 8hr shifts at the Maine Mall. The latest I would be at work is 7:30pm. I start and end my day with 45 minute walks. I always keep dogs on leash, unless the yard is fully fenced. I try my best to stick to the pups normal schedule. I also enjoy staying up on basic training commands while making it fun for your pup.
“I highly recommend Hannah! She stayed at my house for a week and took excellent care of my dogs while I was away. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing they were in such caring and responsible hands. She kept me updated, followed all instructions, and treated my dogs like they were her own. When I came home, my dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly very well cared for. The house was also in great condition. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and I will definitely be booking her again in the future. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, and genuinely great with animals, I would absolutely recommend her!”

“I cannot leave a good enough review for Julie. If you are looking for a house sitter, animal lover, someone to hang out with your crew she is exactly who you were looking for. Everyone was happy and well cared for when we got home and Julie was so flexible with us as we had difficult flight cancellations and change of plans during travel. Cannot recommend enough. 10 out of 10.”

“Marissa was fantastic! I will definitely use her again! My girls fell in love with her, and one likes to test people to see if she can gain control and run the house. Marissa was firm in who was in control, but loving to jot hurt feelings. She provided regular updates and together we got through some tummy issues to make it where I got back home. The house kitties, who were not part of her duties other than to accept snuggles, adored her as well. At one point she was surrounded by 2 dogs and 2 kitties touching her at once! When we got back, as excited as my dogs were to see me, they also looked around me to see if Marissa was there. My animals tell me all I need to know about a person, abd they adore her. Your pets will too!”

About: I’ve taken care of pets of all kinds since I was little and worked at a doggy daycare for 3 years! I have a lot of experience with: • Understanding canine behavior • Dog walking • Off-Leash Trail Adventures • In-Home Pet Sitting • Drop In’s • Med Management and Administration • Grooming (Baths, nail trims, ear cleaning.) I’m free and flexible to dog walk Monday-Friday and willing to pick up some walking on the weekends when available! Animal care is a passion of mine and I’d love to do it full time! I’m confident managing different temperaments, energy levels, and feeding routines. I’m very detail oriented and will follow all care instructions closely to make sure your best friend is happy and healthy. I’m also always providing regular updates and pictures so you can feel completely at ease while you’re away! :)
“John was an awesome pupsitter and we would definitely hire him again! He was communicative, thorough, and very attentive to our 2 dogs over the course of the week that he watched them. Highly recommend him!”

“Rachael was absolutely wonderful caring for our dogs! We have a senior dog with extra needs as well as a younger, very energetic dog, and Rachael provided dependable, loving care to both. We received updates and photos while we were away, and Rachael kept us well informed with how our pups were doing. She also was very responsible in our home, and left things in even better shape than before she arrived. We would highly recommend Rachael to others, and will certainly be reaching out to her again as future dog sitting needs arise.”

“Lori did a wonderful job taking care of my dog Harley at my home over 4th of July weekend. Harley is a quirky girl who is full of personality. Lori showed so much patience and love to Harley, she really put my mind at ease. I wouldn't hesitate to have Lori watch Harley again.”

“Meghan did an amazing job with my pup! She kept me updated on how everything was going during the week, and took great care of Coda. I’ll absolutely be reaching out to Meghan for future trips!”

“Celine was always quick with communication from beginning to end. She stayed with our two crazy pups, one who can be a handful. She shared pictures, followed their routines, and let our puppy sleep under the covers with her in bed!”

About: I excel at making dogs feel calm and like their owners never even left the house. Learning their schedules, quirks, and favorite walking spots helps me make them feel comfortable for extended stays. Energetic puppy? I’ll run around w them and tire them out. Senior dog? We can relax and go at their pace. What sets me apart is my intuition and caring heart. I have a flexible, remote job so I am able to stay with your pet as long as needed through the day and take them on frequent walks in the neighborhood good or to the dog park! I do live-in dogsitting/housesitting at the client’s house. I like to learn about your dog (how they like to play, chill, etc..) so I can make them feel as comfortable as possible.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Gorham
We had a great experience with Marissa! She stayed with our dog Odin for four nights and was responsible, respectful, and easy to work with throughout. It was clear she took the job seriously and treated our home and our pup with real care. Odin was happy and well looked after when we got back, and we felt at ease the whole time we were away. We would definitely recommend Marissa to anyone looking for a reliable dog sitter and will be using her again.

I’m so grateful that we found Lyndsey. She was beyond kind to our animals, including our eight month old puppy who is still learning his way along and needs a lot of patience! She came over before the visit to get to know everyone and asked great, thoughtful questions, and during the visit she sent regular detailed updates and great photos. Can’t recommend her highly enough.

Christina stayed in our home with our nervous and anxious dog for about 5 days and made us feel comfortable with check-ins and pictures. Christina is kind and you can tell she really loves your pet as though they were hers. We were flying home and Christina stayed with our dog a hour longer than we asked, so she didn’t have to be alone for too long. So kind! Christina left our house in great condition, you wouldn’t even know she had been there. I would have Christina pet sit again and highly recommend her!

Kim was great! Ended up with a massive snowstorm towards the end of the trip that delayed me getting home and she was amazing with communication and stayed late beyond the agreed upon time when it became clear that was I going to arrive home several hours later than expected. Sent daily updates with photos.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gorham walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gorham maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gorham choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
