“Once again I was relieved and felt confident that my dog Walter was in good hands while I was away on vacation. Walter can be anxious with different people, but Amanda knows how to handle him. I definitely plan to use Amanda's services again in the future.”

“Meghan stayed at our house during our vacation and was great with our older, anxious dog. We left a long list of detailed notes and she carried out everything task we asked, including giving med to Paco and filling birdfeeders. We came home to a clean house (always appreciated). I highly recommend Meghan and hope we can have her return in the future.”

“I cannot begin to say how much we have appreciated the care provided by Sara. Her timely communication with human owners as well as feline care skills are second to none. We highly recommend her as a house sitter/cat sitter should you ever need such support!”

“Not enough good words to say! Elizabeth took such good care of our pups and home. Excellent communication with lots of updates and photos. Would welcome her back anytime. Highly recommend!”

“Kaden is very responsive and has taken good care of our two dogs and house twice. We feel very at ease when he is with our pets communicated well with us and left our house in excellent shape.”

“100/10 recommend Sydney. Did not worry one bit about my pets for my whole trip — received frequent updates without asking which I super appreciated. My shy girl warmed up to her instantly which says it all to me! So happy with my choice in a sitter and will book again :)”

“I would recommend Amy for your house and pet sitting needs. Amy house sat for us over a long weekend and took care of our dogs, cats, and fish. She followed our instructions and was very communicative. Everything was in order when we returned and pets were happy. Thanks, Amy!”

“We had such a great experience with Emily! Taking care of three animals is no small task, but she handled everything with so much care, attention, and professionalism. From the start, communication was excellent — we always felt informed and reassured while we were away. It was clear our pets were not only well taken care of, but genuinely cared for. Each of them has their own personality and needs, and Emily took the time to understand and meet all of them. We came home to happy, relaxed pets and a well-kept home, which says everything. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were in such good hands. We would absolutely recommend Emily to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and trustworthy pet sitter!”

About: I have 10+ years of experience working in the pet-care industry. I have worked both full time and part time as a pet sitter/dog walker. I have familiarity with a large number of breeds and personalities. It doesn't matter if you have multiple animals in your home needing care, or just one. I am currently full time for pet sitting and/or dog walking and available days or nights, including weekends. Mornings, midday, evening, and late night. I will meet with you prior to caring for your pets to go over their routine and care so we are able to keep the same schedule while you are away. The goal is limit stress for both you and your pet during the separation.
“Celine was a wonderful companion for our somewhat anxious dog. She provided regular updates, great communication, and left our place very clean at the end of her stay. We highly recommend her!”

“Julie is an excellent sitter and she went above and beyond for us while watching our 1yr old chocolate lab puppy and house when we were on vacation. She made it really easy for us and had excellent communication the whole time, sending us updates while we were away to let us know our fur baby was OK. Julie was flexible to our needs and requests and really stepped up to help us and did an amazing job all around. When we came home, our house was very clean and our dog was very happy! All around great experience and I would highly recommend Julie and would not hesitate to book her again. Thank you SO much Julie you are the best and we really appreciate you!”

“Rachael was loved immediately by my pup! She helped me in a pinch last minute when I needed overnight care. She is kind, punctual, sent me updates & stayed in touch. It’s really nice to not have to reach out about your pet, and to already have updates and photos when you check your phone!!! Delilah and I look forward to working with you again. 😊”

“Sarah helped us out at the last minute and was amazing!!! We got updates and our animals were well cared for and happy campers when we got home!!! The house was well taken care of too!! We will definitely have her stay with our fur babies again!!! Highly recommend!!!”

“Hannah has watched our pets a couple times and does a great job! She is responsible and communicates well. It’s such a relief to know our babies are in good hands when we are away.”

About: Hi, my name is Oksana, I'm an animal lover and i would take them all in. I'm ready to care for your pups and give them what they need. I have taken care of pups from st. Bernard size to dachshund size. I have taken care of aggressive dogs and dogs that have had a litter of puppies. I also have a cat and am comfortable with watching your cats as well. I love to walk and exercise if that's what your dog is needing.
“Marissa was fantastic! I will definitely use her again! My girls fell in love with her, and one likes to test people to see if she can gain control and run the house. Marissa was firm in who was in control, but loving to jot hurt feelings. She provided regular updates and together we got through some tummy issues to make it where I got back home. The house kitties, who were not part of her duties other than to accept snuggles, adored her as well. At one point she was surrounded by 2 dogs and 2 kitties touching her at once! When we got back, as excited as my dogs were to see me, they also looked around me to see if Marissa was there. My animals tell me all I need to know about a person, abd they adore her. Your pets will too!”

“Wow is all that we can say! Amazing experience! Nishat truly went above and beyond for our 12 week old puppy and not only took great care of him but also took great care of our house while we were away for a week. Our puppy had to take different medications and had many needs that we were nervous about but Nishat put our minds to ease and met all his needs and I was amazed at her knowledge, care and treatment of our puppy and our place like they were her own. She sent us updates every day to let us know how he was doing and it was so clear to us that he was in good hands, which allowed us to relax and enjoy our time away. She was so responsive and present and it was by far our best experience on Rover. I really can’t recommend Nishat enough for anyone looking for a sitter. We would not hesitate to hire her again. There’s no one else I would rather have watch my baby. She’s the best! Thank you so much Nishat we appreciate you!”

“Jessica was punctual and easy to communicate with (before and during), sharing pics of our dogs almost immediately to reassure us that all was well. Jessica was also very attentive to our dogs' individual needs, including separation anxiety and caution towards new people. Thank you!”

Amanda is wonderful. Our Lucy immediately liked her and Amanda sent us regular photos and updates while we were gone. She even helped Lucy through her 4th of July fireworks anxiety and panic attacks. Amanda was very respectful of our home and cleaned up after herself before she left. We highly recommend her for anyone and she is LGBTQ friendly which was an extra bonus and relief for us. We will definitely hire her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Standish on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 683 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Standish. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Standish walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Standish maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Standish choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Standish. On Rover:
- 98% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
