“My fiancé and I couldn’t be happier with Anna and the care she took of our sweet girl (A 4 year old pit bull). We knew when we adopted our dog, that she loved people but didn’t do well in a shelter environment or around other dogs. This has made leaving town a challenge due to limited options as we couldn’t board her or drop her at my parents’ house with our family dogs, as her well-being comes first. When I found Anna’s profile, she seemed too good to be true but she is real! She is the reason I signed up for Rover. She took excellent care of our girl and our home for 5 days while we were on vacation. It made such a difference knowing our dog could be comfortable and cared for in her own home with someone who is great with dogs. Our pup has some anxiety and quirks so we wanted someone caring and experienced — Anna is that person. Thank you, Anna. We all three hope to see you again soon.”

“Erica is fantastic. She sent lots of pictures of Tipsy playing and stayed in contact. I never worried. I would definitely book Erica again to stay in my home and take care of my fur babies!!”
“Highly recommend! Shalindra provided a week of in-home care for our two dogs, a guinea pig and a gecko. She was delightful to work with. The dogs took to her very quickly, and she was affectionately patient with their unique/opposite personalities. I especially appreciated her daily photo and video updates, and how careful she was to ask questions and provide details on anything happening at the house. I felt confident all was well cared-for, and was truly able to enjoy the time away because Shalindra had everything covered at home.”

About: I’ve been taking care of neighborhood dogs and dogs that my parents friends have had since I was in elementary school, and I have an 11 year old miniature poodle mix that I trained myself but I’ve always loved dogs of all breeds. I have experience working with tiny and huge dogs, anxious dogs, reactive dogs, high energy dogs, special needs dogs, untrained dogs, heavy pullers, and puppies of various ages. I’m also quite strong and can handle big/rambunctious/reactive dogs with ease, so you wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not I can safely handle your dog. I’m currently back from college for the summer and don’t have a lot going on (aside from taking care of my own dog) so I’m home and available all day most days (aside from when I occasionally go stay with my long term girlfriend for a weekend or so). I decided to start working with Rover because I love animals and I’m happier when I have such a fun reason to get some exercise and leave my house :) I have a large grassy (and freshly fenced) in backyard to play in and make sure to routinely check the integrity of the fence and that there aren’t any potential hazards in my backyard. My dog is quite the lounge-around-inside-where-it’s-cool type, so if you would want your dog to have some off leash time in my backyard, even reactive and dog aggressive dogs wouldn’t have issues because they wouldn’t be anywhere near my dog. I also make sure to follow house rules and instructions to the letter (and am strictly no shoes in any house ever) and keep my clients updated on how things are going with photos, videos, as well as update messages. All potential clients are encouraged to meet up with me before entrusting their pets to me, and if you have any interest in your dog having some off leash time with me in my backyard I would be more than happy to give you a tour. Not only those things- but any other requests you may have that can help give you peace of mind when it comes to entrusting me with your fluffy loved ones are encouraged.
“Bryan was awesome! He took really good care of our dog Bella. This was our first experience with hiring a dog sitter and it exceded our expectations. Bryan was very pacient, observant and kind with Bella. Bryan would give us updates throughout the day which was great. Definetly recommend Bryan he wont dissapoint!”

“Eunice did such a wonderful job with watching my buddy! She was very responsive, kind, and accommodating to my dogs needs and my travel plans. She was great at sending pics throughout the stay, took him on walks daily, and left my house spotless!! Would 10/10 recommend and hope to use Eunice again in the future!”

“Branden took excellent care of our to energetic dogs. He made sure that they got their medications and spent a lot of time playing with them. We would be happy to have him as a dog sitter again!”

“Mason continues to be a great sitter. He’s communicative, sends photos and helps take good care of our dog who has been having increasing needs over time. He makes us feel very comfortable leaving our dog in his care. Highly recommend!”

“Daria did a great job looking after my Frenchie! She truly loves and cares for animals and pays attention to details. She even stayed on to make sure my pup did not have to wait too long for us returning from airport. My house was left neat and I received regular photos and updates! Will definitely book Daria again”

“Shayla did an amazing job with our 2 dogs. Our youngest is a challenge and she managed her wonderfully. We communicated daily and she sent photos of them. We’ve never had to leave our pups for 8 days before and were quite anxious about it. But Shayla was very responsive to our needs and we came home to 2 happy and healthy pups. I would certainly recommend Shayla.”

“Jessica was fantastic! She took such great care of our dogs on short notice, and it really showed — she was attentive, communicative, and left everything spotless. Our Akitas were clearly comfortable and happy with her the whole time. We'd book with her again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter.”

“Nancy’s first stay with my pets was exceptional. Being away (and out of cell service) for a week is a huge leap of faith and Nancy delivered in full and then some. The pets were happy and well tended. She left extensive notes and updates for my return and even when above and beyond in a handful of the responsibilities we had discussed. She will be my first stop for all future house sittings without a doubt 🧡🖤🖤🐾”

“Amber did a great job housesitting for me and taking care of my two cats. She was observant and mindful of the environment, allowed the cats to be comfortable at their own pace, and won them both over! She sent pictures and updates and was a great communicator. Thanks Amber!”

About: I've taken care of animals all throughout my life and have worked with and in shelters for the past 4 years. I have plenty of experience with a variety of breeds, from Chihuahua to Mastiff. With a variety of experience in average, senior, and medicinal care, I'm happy to accommodate for you and your pet's needs, I look forward to caring for your fur babies! I can walk and board all week days and weekend days. I am available for in-home/housesitting care from Thursdays-Mondays. I work full-time but am afforded a flexible schedule, so feel free to reach out about your specific needs! I have 2 of my own cats that are as sweet as can be and would love the chance to meet new friends, if you and your pet are up for it. Otherwise, I have a custom "cat city" room and an outdoor patio and backyard for fur friends to get plenty of privacy (with supervision of course!) if they need it.
About: I saved my Chihuahua, Thistle, from a kill shelter when he was 18 months old. I nursed him through being hit by a car, helped him gain weight from being underfed, and encouraged him to be a confident dog (he was extremely anxious) through training and gentle love and care. From this, I learned how to administer medications to animals, so I can provide this kind of care to your fur babies also. My Chihuahua is now a senior dog, but you wouldn’t be able to tell with how active he is! He gets lots of walks and play time, and he loves it best when I get on the floor with him. I am comfortable getting to know your pet and giving them the level and type of attention that they need! I looked into breed specific care, and Chihuahuas have weaker joints, so I put him on a joint supplement right when I got him, and it has really made a difference in his mobility and quality of life. It’s important to administer care to animals in the specific way that is best for them! I would show the same consideration to your pet. That includes factoring in their temperament. As my dog has gotten older, his needs around personal boundaries have increased, so I make sure to check in with him before petting him, picking him up, or otherwise touching him, and I do not touch him if he gives me a no, except in an actual emergency (i.e. the animal could be hurt or hurt someone else if I do not touch them). Instead, I do something else and check in again later. This allows me to establish a real felt sense of safety and trust with your pet. I also had cats all growing up, and have a real affection for them, as well as a clear understanding of their boundaries. I would be honored to care for your pet family just as I care for mine! I currently freelance, which means I have the freedom to take care of your pets whenever you need me to. I can be flexible to your needs. As my dog is a people’s dog and not a dog’s dog, I offer my services in your home. I can walk your pet, do a drop-in visit, or housesit! I will follow your instructions to the letter, and ask about any specific or special care your pet might need.
“Alyssa stayed with my needy little poodle mix and also my son’s active golden retriever for a long weekend. Both dogs seemed happy and relaxed when we came on and the house was clean and tidy. I would totally have her come again!”

“Sophia was an absolutely excellent pet sitter. My dog Brodie can be picky and needs a lot of care and he loves her. She is very communicative and treated my space with the utmost respect. Would certainly work with her again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wautauga Beach
Ryan has a wonderfully calming and capable presence which our whole family (pets and people) appreciate. Our friendly cat and boisterous teen puppy love spending time with Ryan and we appreciate receiving Ryan’s beautiful photos and frequent updates when we are out of town.
Pamela was wonderful with our pup "Rio!" He's normally a bit shy at first meetings but he took to her almost immediately. She was great at giving us daily photos, updates and even a lovely written "Rio Report" at the end of her stay. We had to reschedule our flight and Pamela was very accommodating when we had to return for one of the nights she was scheduled to stay over. Both times we arrived home to a very happy hound and tidy hearth.

Miranda is amazing!! She stayed at our house and with our dog Kiwi for 4 days. Kiwi loved her and when we arrived home, our house was immaculately clean. I could tell as soon as I met Miranda, that Kiwi would be in excellent caring hands. I would highly recommend Miranda and will definitely book her again.

Mel and Kelly are the best! They are responsible and conscientious, and they clearly spent lots of time doting on our very spoiled kitty. Zoya seemed to really enjoy having their company, and was entirely comfortable with them from the start. We feel very fortunate to have found Kelly and Mel, and I highly recommend them!

Kimberly was absolute fantastic watching our boys while we were on a work trip. Her communication was excellent with tons of pictures and videos putting our nerves immediately at ease knowing they were in great hands. 10 out of 10 experience and will definitely be reaching out again!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wautauga Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wautauga Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wautauga Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
