“Noel did a great job taking care of Daphne making my trip possible. Very good with communicating and pictures. Kept her busy with games and walks. Hoping she will be available for future stays!”

“This was our very first time using Rover and having a house sitter, so we were a little nervous but our experience with Claudia blew all those concerns away! She was super communicative, punctual, and kept us in the loop while we were away. We are so happy we found her and thankful that she took great care of Finn and our home!”

“I reached out to Pedro as our dog has some leash aggression issues and needs an experienced hand on his walks. Our dog immediately warmed up to Pedro and left us comfortable going away on a vacation. Pedro was great with our dog and sent updates with each walk as well as some great photos of our dog. We get pretty nervous when leaving our dog as he takes some work but Pedro made us feel comfortable the whole time that our boy was being properly taken care of. 10/10 will use again, and so should you!”

About: I've had a lot of dogs around me my entire life and am the first point-of-contact of my family members when they need their pets looked after. I had a miniature dachshund named Blue when I was 4 who lived to be 20 years old, so I have much experience taking care of young and old dogs. My schedule is currently very open. I recently graduated from college and am looking for work. I heard about this app from my step-sister and thought it sounded like a really fun thing to do while sending out job applications. I am unable to bring pets to my home, but I am open for drop-ins, overnight, all-day, & dog walking. I will protect your pet with my life, play with him/her a lot, and follow any instructions precisely.

About: I have always loved animals growing up (sometimes more than people at times) and I continue to surround myself around animals whenever I can. Throughout my life, people have noticed my love and connection with all animals and have asked and trusted me with full confidence to take care of their pets. Before I knew it I was being hired left and right through word of mouth. I've watched big dogs, small dogs, senior dogs, puppies, cats, plants, the home and and checked the mail. Now that I have moved from my hometown I would love to build a network again and have some paw playtime! I live in a 5 bedroom house with occasional access to the backyard. I have 3 roommates that come and go that are all animal lovers and also give attention to any visitors in passing. We actually have a frenchy who is a year old who likes to socialize as well and loves to share his toys and play. Please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions! Thank you! -Rachel
“Aicha did a fantastic job taking care of our very active border collie. She is professional, caring, and a clear communicator. Aicha stayed in our home for 3 weeks and sent consistent updates with photos that showed our dog relaxing while connecting with her and enjoying himself on walks. She also left the house in great shape and even helped with watering my plants. We are really grateful she stayed in our home while we were away and we would absolutely trust her again in the future. Thank you, Aicha!”

“Aubrey was great!! She was very quick to message me back, was able to meet ahead of time so my dogs could get comfortable with her, and let me know her work hours (that could possibly affect her stay) right away. She kept constant communication with me and sent me plenty of pictures. Aubrey was respectful of our house and even asked to clean some things, who could say no to that!? My pups were so happy when I came home and I know they were well taken care of. I am pretty picky about who I let watch my dogs and I searched through a lot of different Rover profiles, and I’m so happy I found Aubrey! Would absolutely book her again if/when we need another dog sitter!”

“Gabriela played with my pups and they had a great time. She walked them and they went to the park. I haven’t been able to do that for quite a while. She is a superhero. We had a great conversation about tropical fish and I learned a lot about pets from her. I’ll be requesting Gabriela again.”

“Kessyah was absolutely amazing and we’ll definitely be using her again in the future. We were gone for almost two weeks, so leaving our three very high energy pups for that long was stressful, but she made the entire experience so easy and reassuring. She stayed at our house with Moose, Olivia, and Wallaby, and they absolutely loved her and her pup Miso. We came home to three very happy, loved, and clearly well cared for dogs. She was incredibly kind, accommodating, and went above and beyond the entire time we were away. We received many photos/videos, texts, and updates while we were away and she took them on so many adventures. She even made us fresh chocolate chip cookies for when we got home, which was such a thoughtful touch and they were fire!!! You can really tell she genuinely cares and puts so much effort into making both pets and owners feel comfortable. Highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and caring for their pets!”

Ayanna took care of our cat and dog for overnight stays during our recent vacation. They were much happier when we came home because they were able to stay home with Ayanna for company. We were particularly impressed that our very shy cat was completely comfortable with Ayanna. We would definitely book her again!

Kassandra took such wonderful care of my senior dog and was incredibly patient, caring, and attentive to all of her changing needs and occasional moods. She confidently administered her heart medication and eye drops, which gave me tremendous peace of mind while I was away. Her communication was excellent throughout the stay, with thoughtful updates that helped me relax and not worry like I usually do when I’m away from my little girl. I truly appreciated the kindness, compassion, and dedication she showed, and I wouldn’t hesitate to trust her with Dottie again. Thank you, Kassandra, for taking such great care of someone who means so much to me.

Patrick is an excellent reliable young man with a unique ability to connect with dogs. I have 2 three year old puppies (a Coton. Mimi, and a Shi-poo, Kylo). Kylo has an issue initially meeting people - barking a lot. Patrick has an immediate soothing efffect and Kylo goes up to him wagging his tail and looking for pets. I recommend Patrick for the care of your pets and home.

This was Haile's first overnight stay with Bob and we are so happy we found her. She sends regular pictures and updates and lets us know when she arrives and leaves. Bob is obviously very happy to snuggle with her on the couch, and she's familiar with his medicines, including giving him an inhaler. We are looking forward to future stays with Haile!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vineyard walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vineyard maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vineyard choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
