“Johnna did a fantastic job with my 2 dogs, kept me updated and sending proof of life photos…which I appreciated!! She showed such respect for my home as well. Would highly recommend her and for sure will be using her again in the future. 🙏”

“Dustin was very patient with my anxious dog (and very patient with his anxious mamma). Thank you for hanging in there with him, I appreciate it. Highly recommended!”

“Marina was amazing !! She came over a couple days before to meet Kusama and asked appropriate questions about food and medications. One can tell she really cares for animals and genuinely likes being around them. She's sweet and sent multiple pictures and updates daily. We felt very comfortable leaving our precious kitty with her and would use her again and again. Would have no hesitation recommending her to anyone and everyone! Thanks again !”

“Jenna cared for our Ruby in our home when we vacationed— Ruby has never been without my husband or I and is anxious around other people. Jenna was amazing! She sent photos and videos of them cuddling, which made me feel so much more comfortable that we left Ruby in the perfect hands! She has also been able to give my husband and I some tips about Ruby’s behaviors that were spot on! If you need someone with a gentle loving touch who can get through to even the most fickle dog, hire this lovely woman. She also took great care of our home.”

“Keishla is great. My pup loves her and even with an injury, she gave Rocco lots of love and exercise. She was great about sending updates, pictures, and responding. She took great care of my home too.”

“RJ did a great job watching my dog. He sent me multiple pics of her which put my mind at ease and kept in contact with me throughout the stay. Thanks for putting this dog mom at ease!”

“Aicha was fantastic! She stayed over at my house with our baby for 4 days and was so responsive, respectful, and loving to our kitty! The house was in good shape when we returned and she sent us consistent images throughout the stay to show off how much fun she and the kitty were having. We would rebook (and did!) at any time. Thanks Aicha!”

“Alayna was terrific. She sent me updates while we were gone, keeping me upraised about my two cats and large dogs eating and routine habits. She ticked off my list of “to do’s” making me feel very comfortable about leaving my senior cats and persnickety dog in her care. I would recommend her and I will contact her again. Thank you Alayna.”

“Jenna is the best Rover sitter I've found! Sends regular updates, is super thoughtful and takes great care of my older pup. Trustworthy, reliable. Have used her before and will continue to book with her!”

“We had a great experience working with Jazmin! She stayed in our home for two nights, treated our house with great respect and left everything clean and tidy. Most importantly, she truly loved our pups. She sent us frequent photos and videos that gave us so much peace of mind and she even surprised the pups with pup cups as a special treat 🐶❤️ We could tell our dogs were happy and well cared for. Highly recommend her!”

“Joseph was phenomenal with our pups, he had our "difficult" pup in love with him in the first meeting. He gave frequent updates and even picked up the poop when we told him he didn't have to. The house was left immaculately. I strongly recommend him!!”

“We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Mel. She was incredibly communicative from start to finish and made us feel completely at ease while we were away. She sent frequent updates and tons of adorable pictures, which we loved and truly appreciated. She took wonderful care of our home and gave us such peace of mind during our wedding weekend, allowing us to fully enjoy every moment. It was clear our pup was in caring, capable hands the entire time. We would absolutely trust her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and loving dog sitter! Thank you, Mel!”

“We appreciate how Allie cared for Whippley. As a senior dog, he has more needs with specific instructions for meds and mobility, and Allie made it easy to feel confident. We were grateful for the photos and updates, and we would work with Allie again.”

“Alma is a terrific professional dog and house sitter and I’m happy to refer her services. She’s calm and kind and consistent. I was gone for 10 days and she fit seamlessly with our routine. My two dogs are very different ages and personalities and Alma handled both perfectly. She kept the house up and it was in excellent condition when I returned. I’ve been in the Sacramento area for 5+ years and can honestly say that Alma is the best pet/house sitter I’ve found here.”

“Aspen watched our two dogs for over 2 weeks while we were away. She sent us daily photos and updates which were treats to receive while abroad. We came home to two happy dogs and can tell they were well taken care of! Thank you, Aspen!”

“Ava was very communicative and graciously stayed overnight to hang with my pups. She checked in and sent pictures of their time while I was away. Many thanks to her and would rebook.”

“We are so grateful to have found Erika! She is amazing with our dogs. She is very responsive and a great communicator. We could go on our trip feeling at ease knowing our dogs and house were in really good hands. It was a great experience from start to finish. Thank you Erika!”

“Cheryl was wonderful with our two dogs. We had a last minute emergency and asked Cheryl to start her house sitting stay earlier, which she was able to accommodate. Our dogs take some time to warm up to new people, but they seemed so comfortable in Cheryl's care, which gave us a ton of peace of mind during a difficult time. She was also great at communicating with us through the booking process and during her stay and was a very gracious house guest.”

“We usually do drop ins for our kitties but did house sit this time and it worked out amazing! Jazmine is responsible, dependable, and communicative. We get a pretty detailed recap of the day and lots of videos and pictures. Of course the kitties loved it and housesit worked a lot better for my cat that picks at his food throughout the day. We didn’t have to worry at all. Ty Jazmine you are the best!!”

My husband and I are grateful to have had Alayna back to housesit our dog, Polly. Polly is often apprehensive of anyone who is not us, but seems really comfortable with Alayna which allows us to travel worry-free! Alayna is a great communicator and very respectful of our home. Would highly recommend.

Lilly was a tremendous help to us when we went to Japan for 2.5 weeks! Our little senior Jack Russell is a little high anxiety and sometimes doesn't do too well at the dog hotel if left for too long. Thus, we were in search of a house sitter and Lilly came through for us. She updated us with pics while we were away and helped inform us of how Henry was doing during the 4th of July and all. We were very happy she could help us out and we will use her again whenever we are gone for another long trip!

Alice was wonderful. She kept us informed of how our pets were doing the whole time. She came by before we were leaving to make sure the pets were comfortable with her since it had been some time since we booked her and the time she was watching them. We highly recommend her.

Laura has been the most flexible, understanding, and easiest sitter - my boys love when she stops by. She texts and sends photos, which brings peace of mind at work. I haven’t found the right person to help ever since I moved back to Sacramento, so I’m lucky she and I connected. Trust me y’all, shes the one! Thank you Laura ✨

Abby is absolutely phenomenal! She is responsible and checks in whenever she has questions. We have had her housesit for our two dogs on several occasions and she is our go to sitter when needed. We appreciate her kindhearted, respectful and responsible care!

Julia recently cared for our 16 year old cat, Leaux, over night/s in our home. She did a fantastic job with him, following his frequent meal plan and giving him lots of cuddles. She also took extra care to calm him during the night when he cried out (several times) as he has a little older kitty dementia. She also took extra good care of our home. She sent me pictures and kept excellent communication along the way. It’s been a day since I’ve gotten home and he still keeps going into the guest room to see if she’s still there. He misses her. Don’t hesitate to book Julia for your pet.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Parkway-South Sacramento walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Parkway-South Sacramento maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Parkway-South Sacramento choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
