“Noel took great care of our puppy Tito! She was attentive, reliable, and clearly loves dogs. We felt totally comfortable leaving him with her and would absolutely book with her again.”

About: As someone who grew up with dogs, both small and large, I've learned what it takes to make sure the puppies are well cared for, between giving them the right food, making sure they go on walks, and grooming. Our pets are our best friends and so we should take the greatest care of them, and I'm willing to do that for all animals alike. I'm currently a part time worker both on weekends and weekdays and have lots of time to dedicate to taking care of pets. The only time I would not be able to offer my services is dueing weekends. In my home, I have a fenced yard to allow for our big huskies to have space to play and run, offering them toys that I know would keep them entertained. I also make sure to clean my dogs and ensure they eat healthily.
“Cheyenne watched our 11 month old mini golden doodle, Teddy, for 10 days. We were really nervous about leaving him because we had never left him before. Also, he can be a little rascal at times. Cheyenne handled him like a pro! She followed our directions to the letter! Not only did she take care of our puppy, but also took excellent care of our house! She watered our plants and went above and beyond and raked our leaves. I received many photos and videos of Teddy during our trip, which put me at ease. I felt confident that he was in the very best of hands. Thank you, Cheyenne for being an amazing sitter for our puppy! I would recommend Cheyenne in a heartbeat! She is friendly, kind, responsible, and totally trustworthy!”

“Claudia was great! Sent photos throughout the day and responded quickly when I checked in. Also made my dogs their picky/spoiled lunch and sent photos afterward. Also sent me updates as to how much they ate. I’ll use Claudia again whenever needed - you should too. They’re in good hands.”

“I couldn’t be happier with the care my two pups received! She was incredibly responsive from the start and sent me daily photo updates, which really helped ease my mind. One of them can be a little high-maintenance, and she handled everything like a pro. I came home to two content pups and a clean home. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, responsible, and communicative dog sitter. I’ll definitely be booking with her again!”

“Diana is so kind and generous! We have two animals and she came over twice to make sure she understood how to take care of them. Each time, she was a complete delight and also she kept me updated with updates on how my fur babies were doing. I couldn’t recommend her enough. She will be our go-to sitter from now on”

About: We are devoted dog enthusiasts! Having grown up with dogs and many other pets, we welcome your dog as family and care for them as we would our own. Our charming pugs greet all dogs and love playing together in our enclosed yard, reached through a pet door. We understand both puppies and older dogs—one of our pugs is 15 years old, and we’ve nurtured our companions since infancy. We both work from home so all dogs will have ongoing attention day in/day out. Our pugs are allowed on our furniture, but I will abide with guests' home rules, so no bad behaviors will be learned, but will be spoiled with walks, treats and plenty of love and attention. We are happy to have a meet and greet prior to boarding for added peace-of-mind for dog parents. While with us, your fur babies will be treated like they are part of our family.
“AJ is wonderful! I was worried prior to my trip because my dog is old and has separation anxiety (and I was travelling for a long time). AJ kept me informed, took such great care of Bella, and was tidy and very kind. Really enjoy having her sit!”
“Great experience! Gabby was Awesome!!! On-time, super easy, and responsive! She took very good care of our doggies and our home!!! We will definitely reach out to Gabby in the future!!! Thank you!!!”
“he hardest part about going on vacation is leaving behind our fur babies. Our babies are older, stubborn very spoiled and can be very difficult to care for. It’s really hard to trust anyone to care for them so finding Nhi was a blessing. I needed someone to stay at my home to watch over them. Nhi was very patient with our babies. She followed directions down to the smallest detail and took time to hand feed our finicky eaters when they wouldn’t eat. She gave them so much attention, time and patience. After a few days, our babies followed her around, they even wanted to spend time with her and you can tell they trusted her. I would not hesitate to invite Nhi back to our home to watch over our precious babies. She’s very trustworthy, dependable and caring. She kept in contact with us and provided daily updates and sent us the cutest pictures. We are already planning our next trip knowing Nhi is someone we can count on in the future. Thank you, Nhi, for taking such amazing care of our babies so we can enjoy our vacation. I highly recommend her if you need a pet sitter.”

“This was by far one of the best experiences I have had. I have two pups 1 and 2 years of age. My 15lbs Chihuahua pug mix is a little leash reactive. My two yr old hound mix is extra excited! I was so nervous about boarding them. I so happy I looked at Roover who background checks people! A pet sitter mades more sense but I was worried my dogs might be too much for some people. Or I might be asking too much for 5 walks a day, about 3.5 hours total. I reached out to Brittany because the price seemed fair and competitive with local kenal boarding places. She wanted to do the meet and greet 2 days before my trip. I expressed I'd like to meet sooner in case it's not the right fit. She was very flexible and met me the next day! That was huge because it took this massive worry away the week before my first trip away from them. She confirmed with me the day before and she was soooo punctual at 630am the day of, it was impressive....better than myself that's for sure! She constantly sent pictures of their walks and them snuggling. I didn't even have to request them. I'd look at my phone and have 6 pictures of their activities. It made me smile. I felt more at ease and relaxed knowing they were getting awesome care! I was never once worried about. That's huge. She left a few hours earlier than my return flight. Right before I boarded my short 2 hr flight home She had another sitting right after mine. Then my my flight was suddenly delayed, after I had boarded! The woman next to me on the plane is telling me horror stories of similar situations that turned into hours and eventually over night! I let Brittany know it was delayed by only 30 minutes, not telling her the stories I am hearing. She said if it's crazy delayed she can go back to check on them. In that moment that was exactly all I needed to hear. This was only my first business trip. There will be more. I plan on asking Brittany first if she is available. My house is as clean as I left it, she took out the trash and stripped the bed. Those small things matter when you you've had a long day and just want to play with your pups after being gone from them for 36 hours! Highly recommended!”

“Keishla took great care of my large dog and cats while I was away. She even won over the affection of my more skiddish kitten! From the meet and greet, through the end of the sit, Keishla was respectful, responsive, and professional. She spent plenty of time playing with the animals, kept the house clean, and sent several updates and pictures throughout the sit. I would happily book her again!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sloughhouse walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sloughhouse maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sloughhouse choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
