About: Every pup is one-of-a-kind, and I treat them that way. During their stay, I get to know each dog's playful personality, favorite belly-rub spots, and treat preferences. Free daily walks are included with every stay. Your pup gets fresh air, exercise, and time to explore at no extra cost. Need a special meal or medication? No problem. I'll follow your pup's routine so they feel right at home, from playtime in the park to bedtime snuggles. Go enjoy your vacation with peace of paw. I'll send pictures and updates so you can see those happy tail wags from miles away. I work from home most of the week, so your pup is never left alone for long. My mornings start the same way every day: the dogs get taken care of first, then I get my coffee. 😂 Being a responsible pet owner is something I take to heart. I know how hard it can be for working families to find pet care that's both trustworthy and affordable, and that's exactly why I started this. I want every family in Sacramento County to have a safe, loving place to leave their pup without worrying about the cost. My wife and I do this together, so there's always someone home to supervise, play, and give plenty of attention. While you're away, your furry family member becomes part of ours. Attention to detail. Understand dog needs and characteristics to each individual dog. Try to cater to their needs and see how I can make them feel comfortable.

About: I grew up around dogs and am now a devoted parent to a reactive German Shepherd mix. I’ve cared for pets through feeding, training, and daily needs - because every animal deserves love and patience. Let’s make their day brighter! Pet care is a natural part of my routine. I prioritize it just like any other daily responsibility. Whether it’s feeding, training, or playtime; I build it into my schedule to ensure every pet in my care feels safe, happy, and loved. Flexibility is key, and I’m always happy to adjust to meet their needs! For walk, I ensure each pet gets focused attention and exercise tailored to their energy and needs. During drop-ins and check-ins, I focus on feeding, litter care, and quick playtime; always following your instructions to keep their routine consistent and stress-free. Safety and comfort are my top priorities!

She followed instructions to a tee and our dogs immediately got along well. Will definitely reach out again for future pet services!”

About: Hey there! I'm from Wilton, and I'm great with animals. What sets my apart is I have had dogs, cats and horses my whole life. On top of that I also have chickens, ducks, goats, and geese. So I don't mess around when it comes to animal care. Aside from providing exceptional care with my personal animals, I've also worked at a dairy where I milked the cows, fed them, and spent HOURS of time caring for them- so I'm definitely not new to spending some great time with animals that aren't mine. A lot of people I think come to pet sitting sites to earn some extra cash spending time with YOUR animals because it’s "easy". Truthfully, I'm doing this because I want to ease the anxiety of someone leaving their beloved family members (Yes I'm talking about your pets because they are definitely family) with someone they don't know, and provide others with the same amount of care and love I'd want someone to treat my animals with. My dog has a personal morning routine to get her hyped for the day, so I'm good with animals that need a little extra TLC! I work part time 4 days a week Monday through Thursday 6am-3pm. So for the rest of the day I'm free! I love to be outside and staying active so if your animals love the smell of the outside and having someone play games that get their brain moving- I'd love to help! I also do not work on weekend's so am totally free to pet-sit on weekends and weekdays! I live on 3 acres with friendly dogs, and lots of opportunity for your pets to be around animals they typically wouldn't see! I also have a kennel area if you would prefer that.

About: I’ve spent the past year caring for pets, including helping care for a sick dog, where I followed specific instructions to make sure they were okay. That experience made me even more patient and attentive. I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and happy, whether it’s walks, playtime, or just keeping them company. I have school on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 8 AM to 12 PM, but outside of that my schedule is flexible. I’m available for morning, afternoon, and evening visits, including walks, feeding, and check-ins. I make sure pets get consistent attention and care, and I’m reliable when it comes to sticking to their routine. My goal is to make sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and relaxed while you're away. I take safety very seriously, making sure it's a clean and secure place. I always pay close attention and follow all care instructions.

About: As I studied animal science for the majority of my high school and college career, I have learned the necessities of various animals and worked with them from a very young age. This has given me a great deal of patience and experience, as I have taken care of dogs with speical needs, and even more exotic animals like guinea pigs, rabbits, lizards, and farm animals. I have prior experience volunteering at Bradshaw Animal Shelter, as well as Priceless Pets Vet Clinic in Southern California. My own golden retriever unfortunately passed away, and he had a condition called Megaesophagus, which is a condition that required him to sit up in a bailey chair to eat and take medication three times daily— he taught me a lot about caring for special needs dogs. I now have two rabbits and a bearded dragon, but I love dogsitting because I miss having my own dog as well. I love to meet various personalities and get to know everyone’s fur babies. I am a realtor and personal trainer, so my schedule is completely self-determined. I train clients early mornings, and any realtor duties I have are scheduled independently so I can work with tons of needs for dogs. I would love to come feed your dog and take them for bathroom breaks, as well as playing and walking with them! I understand how hard it can be for some dogs to be alone while you are out, so I will spend great time with them. I am a very active individual so I can walk as long as needed, and I am open to other activities as well! I provide consistent updates so you can feel comfortable that your dog is taken care of.

About: I have experience caring for both dogs and cats of all ages, including puppies, kittens, and senior pets. I have walked dogs of all sizes and breeds, including both trained and untrained dogs. I am comfortable caring for pets with special needs and have experience giving medications to sick pets. As a proud Golden Retriever owner myself, I understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy and caring to look after your pet. I treat every pet as if they were my own, providing them with love, attention, exercise, and a safe environment while you’re away. Whether your pet needs walks, playtime, companionship, medication, or extra care, I am dedicated to making sure they feel happy, comfortable, and well cared for. I am currently waiting for college enrollment. As I prepare for college, I have a lot of free time and a flexible schedule to dedicate to caring for pets. When caring for pets in my client’s home, I follow their regular routine to help pets feel comfortable and secure. I provide fresh food and water, walks, playtime, exercise, companionship, and lots of attention. I can also administer medications if needed and make sure the home stays clean and tidy. If caring for pets in my own home, I provide a safe, clean, and pet-friendly environment where they receive plenty of supervision, exercise, affection, and care. I make sure pets have a comfortable place to rest, stick to their feeding schedule, and get the attention they need throughout the day. My goal is always to make pets feel loved, safe, and stress-free while giving owners peace of mind knowing their pets are in good hands.

FAQs for Pet Sitting - Sloughhouse

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
