“Rene was so wonderful with my senior boy. I was anxious to leave him for the first time ever but, Rene’s sweet and welcoming disposition took away all my fears. We will definitely be seeing her again!”
“I felt very at ease leaving Diesel with Frances! Diesel had plenty of safe space to play and went for walks. He went on a short trip to Belle Island. Frances also gave him his daily medicine. And I loved the picture she sent me. With her background I was pretty sure she could handle my guy. I will definitely recommend Frances to others. Diesel looks forward to staying again with his new buddy! ”
“Hazel had the best time with Jonathan and Mary! We got tons of pictures during her stay and she came home absolutely exhausted from playing all weekend. Can’t thank them enough for giving our Hazel a great first boarding experience.”

“We recently had to board our dog, Coco, with Joyce on very short notice due to a family emergency. We can’t thank her enough for her incredible care and support during this difficult time. From the moment we dropped Coco off, it was clear she was in good hands. Joyce was attentive, kind, and made sure Coco felt comfortable and loved. We truly appreciate the extra effort Joyce put into making our pup feel at home. We’ll definitely be returning for future boarding needs. Thank you, Joyce, for being such a wonderful host!”

“Zeus was very well cared for and enjoyed his stayed with Dorian and his family. The home was very clean with a large fenced in backyard. The best thing is that Zeus took right to Dorian. Will definitely book with Dorian again.”
“Kacy and Justin were amazing with our fur baby! We were a bit anxious about leaving our puppy for the first time (especially for a full week), but Kacy and Justin helped ease our anxiety. They are very kind and provided daily updates with videos and photos. And they were very flexible when our flight was delayed and we were a bit late for pick-up. We would definitely recommend them and will be using them for any future dog boarding services!”

“Christa is very kind, Caring and polite. She listens and follow up per your request according to your need for your fur baby. She answers to messages very quickly and send you picture of your fur baby while the pet is there . Our pet came home happy. She packed everything clean back to us. I love her service and my pet loves her. A big five star and above .”

“Jessica was amazing. Took such good care of our two dogs and has expertise in grooming! I felt very comfortable leaving my dogs with her and she made sure to update me everyday which made me feel better. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone!”

About: I recently lost my 14-year old bulldog and I am looking to reconnect with dogs before committing to another long term companion. I have experience with senior dog care, to include dogs with cancer and dementia. I work full-time from home. During the day, I would be able to offer 2 15 -minute bathroom visits/walks during my breaks from work. I also have flexibility when other needs arise. In the evenings, I am free to give your dog as much love and attention as they desire. I only accept 1 dog at a time (unless multiple dogs are from the same owner and the dogs are pair bonded). I was single handedly responsible for my own dog for 11 years before she died of old age, so I know what it takes to compassionately care for a dog. I have also watched my friends’ dogs and my parent’s dog for weeks at a time. Taking care of dogs is not a new experience for me. I work from home and have complete control over the flexibility of my schedule. I can take breaks from my work to attend to your dogs needs 2 times per day during my 15-minute breaks. I am free evenings. I can also use my breaks to give walks/pet stop-ins if within close proximity to my house. I am willing to take care of dogs who prefer free play in a fenced in yard or those that prefer longer leash walks or park outings. I have no problem with free roam in the house or crating, whichever fits best with the dog’s regular routine. I have a big fenced in back yard and live in a neighborhood with sidewalks and a park 1 block away. I also have a good relationship with a local vet in case of emergencies.
“Emily was wonderful. Very responsive and took great care of my dog. She also was very accommodating when I arrived back later then expected to pick up my dog. Will definitely use her again.”

“Candace and her family are amazing. There are know other words for them. From the second Shadow was dropped off they loved on him and treated him as their own. I believe they wanted to keep him for good but we had to have our boy back.😊 But let me say this every time we travel if Candace is available Shadow will be staying with her and her family.”

“James and Mary were awesome with Nuka! They very conscientiously followed the special diet the vet put him on. They were also excellent with communication and shared videos and pictures of my pup throughout his stay. I am so grateful to this lovely couple for looking after my buddy and hope he can stay with them again in the future!”

“I’m so glad I left Apollo with Rebecca and her family while my husband and I were out of town. She took care of Apollo and made sure he was fed, active and happy. He wasn’t eating his own food and wanted the other pup’s food, and Rebecca was absolutely open on feeding Apollo her own pup’s food just so that he could eat. Apollo was getting spoiled the whole weekend. I can’t wait to use Rebecca and her family again to sit Apollo again. Thank you again for everything!”

About: For as long as I can remember, dogs have been a huge part of my life. With over 15 years of hands-on experience caring for dogs of all sizes, breeds, and personalities, I’ve learned that every pup is different and deserves care that’s just as unique as they are. For the past 7+ years, I’ve also been fostering dogs through local rescues. Helping dogs transition from uncertain beginnings into loving homes has been incredibly rewarding and has given me experience with many different temperaments, energy levels, and personalities. The idea of boarding dogs in my home came from a challenge I faced myself — finding a place that truly felt safe, loving, and comfortable for my own dogs when I had to go away. I wanted more than just a place for them to stay. I wanted them to feel cared for, understood, and treated like family. When your dog stays with me they will enjoy plenty of safe, supervised playtime in a large, fully fenced yard, giving them space to run, explore, and burn off those zoomies. Whether your dog loves active play or relaxing cuddle time, their comfort, safety, and happiness always come first. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. We’re used to having dogs around and all the activity and responsibility that comes with them, so caring for pets feels like a normal part of everyday life. When we don’t have any extras here, the house actually feels a little too quiet—like something is missing! I want every pet in my home to feel as comfortable and at home as possible. I try to keep their routine and familiar comforts as much as I can—if they sleep in the bed at home, they’re welcome in the bed here; if they love curling up on the couch, that’s where they’ll be. My goal is to make their stay feel like a vacation, not a kennel stay. I want them to feel safe, relaxed, loved, and right at home while their family is away.
“I was a first time boarder and Kathleen and her family helped me and my pup to be at ease in this new space. The photos and updates throughout the stay were amazing. I can definitely see that my dog felt comfortable and welcome. I will definitely return as a customer.”

“Bristoe had a ball! Thank you for having him! I loved the texts throughout my stay away from my boy. Theresa was very accommodating and easy to work with. Thanks again!! We look forward to future stays.”

“Marieliz was fantastic with our dog. We have a larger breed dog, and she was confident and able to handle him with no problem. She made us feel very comfortable while traveling, keeping us up-to-date with a daily summary and photos and videos of how he was doing and what they did throughout the day. She kept his routine, and feeding schedule the same way we have it at home. She gave him a great deal with love and he came back happy and healthy. We would definitely use her again.”

“My pug, Django, loves staying with Linda. He was so excited to see her when we showed up to her place! This is his second stay with her. She’s always kind and friendly and I trust her with our furry little guy. Linda sends lots of photos and updates throughout the stay. Linda is definitely our go to Rover <3”

“Ashley was fantastic, she sent photos or videos everyday and all of them showed the happiest dog ever!!! Would recommend highly and will go back to her as long as she’s available!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
